    You might not even read this, as this is quite an old video, but thank you so much! I fixed my grille shutter today thanks to your video, works like a charm! Too bad I had to cut off screws holding the bumper together with the fender, the threads on them were torn. That was much more time consuming than the grille repair itself. You helped me a lot. Thanks!

    Well done - I had grill shutters on my 1948 international farmall they were manual back then. I think their to increase mileage by lowering the drag coefficient but in my testing my Farmall never did get any better mileage. I imagine if the electric motor was buggered you could sort it out by just removing the bodge and drive on like a Farmall. Love the music buddy .

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fuel economy had been getting worse since the problem so I don't know if that was down to aerodynamics, power drain by the fan or poorly regulated temperature. As long as the PCM thinks the motor is running then it won't switch into the protective fan strategy. I hope the US Marines don't come after me for that music, I don't want them coming after me!

    Or unplug the thing with the shutters open. I don’t think any of the Fords in the USA have this.
    Good demo with the zip ties !

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The cooling fans come on when it detects a fault with the grille system so you can't just unplug it otherwise that would have been my fix! They're on the Mustang and the F150 I believe, so they're becoming more common. Cheers!

    • @jamessowards3822
      @jamessowards3822 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The grille shutters add about 6% better fuel economy when closed by making the car more aerodynamic. They open to allow air flow through the radiator when cooling is needed then close again. They actually save you money when they work like they are supposed to.

      @@Badgertronix hi managed to get it loose today, so had a good look took front grill off and undertray and accessed the grille plug and motor, no corrosion and no sign of any wiring issues.
      gave it all a good clean with electrical contact spray, and put back together still getting no communication code, and its defaulting to open.
      when i shut them by hand they open to default open so assume the motor is working!.
      i think i must have an ecu fault, any ideas please

    • @Badgertronix
      @Badgertronix  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1
