YAY! You're back! Had prayed for you both, and am thankful you are on the mend now. The scenery at this location has a lot of different contrasts: dunes and the sea to steep, winding highways resembling Colorado, to canyons that remind us of The Grand Canyon, to pine trees. WOW! After all the fancy destinations you have been to you came rather late to the Canary islands! ;) - Been there first time in 1974 (Las Palmas) for 5 weeks after my 1 year job in Madrid. Then were sent to work in Gran Canaria (La Playa) in 1978 for 7 months (and another season on Lanzarote a year later) Lanzarote is worth making a video about!!! Don't remember Pto de Mogan being so colorful and nicely painted in those days, I think there were no hotels there in those days. - Get well soon and looking forward to your future videos!!! 🤩

Chris--I have been watching and enjoying your videos for several yrs. While traveling how do you and Carol access healthcare providers? Take care you two.
we usually always have health insurance, we have always used a company called world nomads travel insurance. We actually rarely get sick to the point that we have to go to the doctors though. Usually within a week we are fine letting the illness pass naturally. This one was a lot worse though and lasted multiple weeks so had to take antibiotics

In summer there are so many places with good weather closer in Europe so people go there instead of to the further away Canary Islands. But in winter it’s the only place with warm weather that’s why it’s a winter destination.

Hi guys, sorry to hear you weren't feeling too good. Hope you are better now! Please promise to return to Gran Canaria, because you sadly missed out on the best part of the Island- beautiful Las Palmas, with its stunning urban beach, world-class class surfing, and the atmospheric colonial Old Town...also, there are some beautiful little villages in the North and Centre of the Island! And if you go to the Canaries again, check out the Island of La Gomera...hardly any tourists, but the scenery is like a mixture of the Andes and the RainForest, in fact...the whole of South America in one tiny island!
yeah really sucks that we couldn't travel Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria properly :( Will be back for sure!

Very nice video from GC. As a guy born in Gran Canaria, I was eager to see also the second GC video. 😌 Bad luck you guys had getting sick, but at least you managed to release one day in each Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.
Now you have the perfect excuse to come back😊. Maybe next time you can complete Gran Canaria (so much left, specially in the center and north) with the main city and its splendid urban beach and area, and the historuc Vegueta and the Cathedral. I'm sure this area architecture would remind you areas of colonial buildings in South America and Portugal (specially Madeira).
I think you'd also like the Caldera de Bandama crater and surrounding area, in the center of the island.
If you come back, Lanzarote is also a must, deserving 2 videos also, specially if you combine it with the tiny island of La Graciosa, well deserving a day trip (catamarans leave from the North of Lanzarote, several times a day. You may leave early in the morning and come back about 4-5pm, giving you more than enough time to walk and enjoy the island and its beaches). Lanzarote in itself is the most unique of the Canaries with semi-active volcanoes (Timanfaya) and very unique architecture and venues. There is the incredible Mirador del Rio, which overlooks to La Graciosa. Many nice beaches, too, like Papagayo.
La Palma island is very nice, too. Very green with some beaches. It has a huge crater, and the perfect for hiking area of Caldera de Taburiente. A volcano eruption occured in the south of the island, a few years ago.
chicken soup with garlic and hot tea, will help what you have, and lots of water to flush that virus out!

The cloud formation is there every day and the locals call it the "donkeys' belly", from the colours when you look up to the underneath of the donkey from the ground ....

Wow, we usually go to Lanzarote but we may just give Gran Canaria a go sometime now, it looks beautiful! Yeah, the Canaries is our go to for a winter destination from Ireland, the UK and other European countries. Also, the flights from here (Ireland) to the Canaries have become very expensive since covid, so many are tending to chose the cheaper flights to Portugal etc
As someone from California, I've never seen a place that seems like all the micro climates of southern California smashed into an island. Looks gorgeous!
Example would he if big bear was right next to orange county/San Diego/malibu beaches with downtown Santa Barbra vibes in the towns

Chris and Carol I live in Arizona now with my husband and we love Sedona. It is beautiful. Also there is a chapel on top of the hill. Please go visit it. It’s breathtaking. The food is amazing.

A la comida cúrcuma con pimienta negra para que se active y el cuerpo absorba la curcumina, que es lo que la hace tan beneficiosa, yo suelo condimentar la comida con ambas y jengibre en polvo y rara vez me resfrío en todo el año. Una pena que no pudieran disfrutar más de Gran Canaria, si les gusta el senderismo pueden descubrir paisajes alucinantes en la isla que pocos ven en los más de 800 km de senderos que tiene, un abrazo desde Gran Canaria y espero se mejoren ambos.

Shame you guys never made it to Lanzarote. The island has a special pull. Volcanic forces maybe?…whatever it is, you can feel it and once you do you will yearn to return.

Yes, a must visit... Timanfaya, Mirador del Rio, Teguise, Valle de las mil palmeras, Papagayo beach, Jardin de Cactus, Cueva de los verdes, Jameos del Agua (diner might be nice, although not daily opened)...and a day trip to La Graciosa neighbouring tiny island.
Lanzarote has also an excellent white wine, and a visit to a winery is nice too. Lanzarote has a very unique way of growing grapes, taking advantage of both the lava rocks and minerals in the volcanic soil.

I spent 3 months living on GC back in summer of 2022.
If I were to live out there, it would be Puerto de Mogan, it has everything you could want at reasonable prices.

Hello, you make some very interesting videos and you are a very nice couple.
A clarification: toplessness is allowed on all beaches in Spain and many women practice it, it’s considered normal. Apart from that, there are also many beaches with nudist areas and others, fewer, that are nudist throughout the coastal area. Maspalomas, for instance, has a nudist area on the beach.

yeah it was definitely overpriced, we didn't comment because the place was super quiet and there was a couple right behind us lol. basically everyone there including the workers would have heard us
Yes, as any tourist destination, one has to be careful, although many times it's unavoidable if you are hungry and stopped in an remote area. They have a few interesting restaurants in the Guiniguada valley (ultra impressive), located at the very end of the valley, and you eat inside large caves within the mountains)
QUESTION: If you had to STOP all travel and live the rest of your life in ONE place, where would it be?????
The high season is October til April in the Canaries also pity when you were in Tenerife you missed going up Mt Teidi the highest mountain in the whole of Spain best wishes
