This situation really is a wake-up call for Western allies that are dependent on the US military industrial complex. If the US government can be influenced by Russian assets, it clearly demonstrates a need to decouple from US specific weapons systems. Collaboration between “other” nations in the development of weapons systems and manufacturing would seem to be the direction now. We can’t allow ourselves to be controlled by hostile US politicians…especially those that are not even elected.

It is replacing weapons with ease and at a faster pase than all of NATO combined. And it is strengthening it's alliances with some of the most powerful nations on earth. It also has 100 million more people than Ukraine, all while taking significantly smaller losses on the battlefield.

Remember that it is not about the land that russian is taking, its about people's homes and family, sometimes just children.
For you its easy to say let Russia keep those territories. But would you be OK with other country you don't like, to own your property?
Because "peace" just means that Ukraine no longer exists. If your home was attacked and you fought back and then offered peace and the attacker was like, "ok, I'll give you peace if you give me your entire house and everything in it... and your bank accounts, too... and your children." would you say, "Ok, that's fair!"?

Military force should always be the last possible resort, never the preferred option. Ukrainian politicians now should be realizing that investing in diplomatic policies aimed at achieving neutral peace would have been more prudent than pursuing the militaristic approach we have witnessed. No other country should risk invasion if they learn from Ukraine's mistakes. It's worth noting that diplomacy is challenging and requires brilliant minds

Don't let them fool you! There's plenty of money there to aid those that need it! Now, they're going to pick and choose who they're going to give to? Republicans were all on board when Russia invaded Ukraine, a Sovereignty State, for nothing other than to try to take back land that once was part of Russia so long ago. The United States provided more than 50 billion in aid over 150 countries and territories, regional funds and ngos in 2021. Each year Congress appropriates foreign assistance based on national Security, commercial and humanitarian interests.... That's just one case in point...

Because if Russia invade and conquer all the countries they want to... they will not be 140 million Russians, they will grow to 300+ million. You may try to be friends with them, but in order to be their friend, you have to have the same system- a dictatorship. You want that? 60% of the russians live in poverty. 40% dont even have paved roads. Wanna be their friend and fight against developed democracies? Go ahead. US will spend the same amount of money each year on military so makes no difference at all, whether they help other or they stay at home, the spending will be the same.

hi....yeah i would keep the patients out of official military service....the coarts understand that not everyone can help with the defense issues,....the defense department knows who needs the support.....do the best you can to make your states great....thank god for those ukrainians...it could be millions more lost....

We also pay for Ukraine's economy to keep functioning as well, not just military supplies, humanities as too. Think of it as an investment that'll return twice fold in the future. I guess if you don't have kids then it wouldn't matter to you but in the event you ever get sent to war, just remember this moment in time.

America and Russia and most other powerful countries have war in their blood line as it is a human trait to conquer or be conquered. Our civilization, unfortunately, has not evolved and may never evolve beyond this. Idealist arguments (not aimed at you just people I discussed this with) are null and void from the get-go when discussing real time events like these from this rose glasses pov. It blinds them from seeing some of the complexities and reasoning that guides reality by painting everything in black and white, good and bad. I think it some sort of "I am a good person so I am right by default" safe house they are afraid to step out of, and so we get "send more money to Ukraine Russians bad" and "we are fighting nazis in Ukraine, Russians good" BS that drowns intelligent reasoning.
