It's so great to see you (guitar man) sharing Ren's art with your students! All the best for her and her future. Thanks for the reaction. P.S. Give her a glimpse of how diverse Ren is!
I agree with what she said. His use of negative space is - unmatched, really. Silence can be far more impactful. Most music seems obsessed with filling in any spaces. Ren is not only stripped down in much of his material, often just him and a guitar, sometimes only 1 or the other, and further to that, intentionally neither. And it flat out works better, IMHO.
I enjoy seeing different people react to the performance, voice coaches, therapists, cameramen, movie producers....it is an AMAZING piece; and I like to hear different people point out even more tasty bits.
I love how it wasn't just, "React to this... you'll like him!" Instead, it was opportunity training, "Do you see how he did this? What's this time signature?" And you can see just how passionate he is about music in general. 100% hands down, that girl found herself a good teacher.
Another one getting caught in Rens gravitational field. He could be a playwright, his songs are so well written, have so much meaning behind them and his flair for the dramatic is captivating. He's a great teaching aid, there is talent and so much diversity in his range. Good luck Georgia on the audition, I hope you smash it.
I love the way he speeds things up and slows it down adding pauses, keeping me guessing. I heard once somewhere that it’s the silence between the notes that is the key? ❤️REN❤️
The waltz part on screeches tale you mentioned reminds me of a musical movie called Oliver from the 60s with Oliver Reed playing a psycho,Rens gravelly voice outburst makes me think of Reed acting in this film. Pure class‼️REN would be great in a musical movie, maybe they could write one about his life and him play it out. Thank you for your reactions to REN 👏👏👏😁🇬🇧
LOVING the series already! I LOVE seeing new reactors to Ren, who better than an up and coming artist! Welcome to the world of Ren, there is NOTHING he cannot do! Ren is music the genre is REN! Edit: yo ;)
@@michaelgoyettemusic I am not the computer guy but, thanks for the reply champ love the channel! Here are some things I feel many may catch or miss. I could write a book on just about every Ren song... These are a few things I like to mention sometimes. Jenny's Tale you have to ask yourself what was a 14 year old girl wearing heels and "rosy cheeks" doing at night on a road "she walked a 1000 times before".
At the start of Screech's Tale, Ren starts the song by saying, "A story it starts at the end". Patrick was "missing" and Screech's GF was "Busy" because they were together. Then at the end as Ren does so often he brings it full circle and says, "A story it ends at the start" . Violate Tale - I LOVE the guitar rifts throughout the ENTIRE song. Ren so often does, he plays the part of Violate here on the bed after the rifts... (Violate waking up looking around confused as to how she got here and where is here?) With haunting/eerie hymns he sets the stage. Many catch the rewind . MANY more miss the speeding back up to real time when Ren/Violate wakes up on the table (After the fight between her and Stevie as he starts walking away). Lastly, Violet moved out at 16 into a flat paid by a "welfare scheme". It is logical to think that violet was already pregnant by this time. A teenage runaway might have a chance at being a beneficiary of this but a pregnant teenage runaway certainly has the qualifications to be granted this benefit. This was before she met Stevie who most would assume was the father of Jenny and Screech. If what was speculated was true, Stevie did some maths and figured that the numbers didn't add up, the baby wasn't his. He beats up Violet and calls her a "slut" which was quite specific when compared to usual cuss words like "bitch" or "cunt". This would also answer as to why Stevie asked "Why're you lying to me, violet?" And would make the slightly off phrase "Do you think I wanna do this, Violet" fit more consistently into the story.
There is music you listen to to dance, to relax, to feel upbeat.....this is SO MUCH MORE.....you have to watch; listen, and EXPERIENCE this. You don't listen to it on your car radio or in the other room while you do dishes. This is so much more than music.
His voice is not comercial and there are planty of smoother singers outthere, but his guitarplay, his video-productions and his storytelling is on top.
I disagree…..he has perfect forward placement which is exactly what works in mainstream….his music isn’t very commercial and his production style isn’t commercial….specifically pitch correction…..he doesn’t usually have it…..everyone else does….if he did he’d sound as smooth as everyone else.
Wow what an introduction to Ren for Georgia. I loved her reaction at the end. I could almost see the cogs in her brain working to process it all 😊. Yo. Welcome to Ren, Georgia. Your remark about Ren being in no hurry to get to the words, using the music as part of the story, reminds me of Pink Floyd's use of what most reactors call "the intro" . As if all the genius it takes to compose the music was irrelevant.

It's nothing to sneeze at, but wanting to do music at university should be enough motivation for someone to sit down and get the learning done. GL with the TH-cam channel, Sunnyside! (that was the name of the school you teach at, right?) It's gonna be amazing to watch young people become musicians and songwriters and storytellers after watching Ren, as more and more start emerging who've found his stuff as a young person. Whether Jorja ends up falling down the rabbit hole the same way all of us here have, or whether this ends up being her only exposure to Ren... this viewing of the trilogy will leave a mark on the way she views storytelling and performance. Great idea Mike, and ty again for being willing to do the video thing, Jorja. ♥
This is very inspiring to see, watching you show Ren's guitar skills and storytelling talent to Jorja! Ultimately all music, with words or not, is storytelling, even if it only sets a particular scene or evokes a single emotion. There's no doubt that Ren is a master at it. I can see that you're a great teacher, too: patient and caring, invested in the success of your students. Good luck (and skill) to Jorja, and thanks for an excellent reaction to one of my favorite artists!
Its awesome you're sharing these masterpiece's with students. Hopefully it inspires them and they learn things to add to their own arsenals to improve or add to their own art. ❤. You sound like an amazing teacher!
Ren understands the mind of abusers and what they say. My father used to beat the crap out of my mother, my sister and me. I'd be a 7 yr old with a bloody nose and he'd ask "why do you MAKE me do this?" or "Do you think I want to do this?" That it was, somehow, our fault that he was beating us! This is so well done and well presented by you. To the young lady I would say, don't worry about controlling your emotions with something like this. It just means you're human and have empathy. Ren does an amazing job of connecting with the audience and transmitting that sadness and tragedy.
It’s terrible he put you through that……I think you already but I’ll say it just in case…..it wasn’t your fault. Thanks for sharing. It adds a layer of context to the art to hear a real story that parallels this one❤️ REN’s ability to connect with the characters in his songs is next level…..one of the things that separates him from others. Cheers. ✌️

You're spot re: the 1990's influences, he actually has a song called "1990's", paying homage to all things '90's! Great reaction btw, love and respect from England 😊
i do love that your introducing the next generation of artists to one of the best all around artrtist weve had in a while. if you haven't seen polyphia yet you guys should look into them. the things tim henson does with his fingers are absolute magic.
Yo. Didn't realize you hadn't reacted to this already. I've seen a lot of your Ren stuff. I'm glad Georgia is a new fan. Deep rabbit hole to fall through.
Yo! What a lucky girl Georgia is. I'd love a few lessons from you Mike. 😁 Will look out for the music school channel when it's launched too. If the rest of the students are as natural and comfortable in front of the camera as she is it should be really good. The great intro's, the winding back and fore in time and the musical silences and time signature changes really create the sense of drama, progression and suspense. It reminds me of an old Hitchcock type movie. Where I think maybe something like Money Game Part 3 would be more of a Guy Ritchie vibe. I guess he would have had a lot of time to read and watch movies. The more I hear of Ren's music and the longer it ruminates, the more I see. One thing I see in young and new(-ish) guitar players (Especially teenage boys) is the want to play at 100mph all the time, fill every silence and show off their skills. It makes much more of an impact if you use the instrument to tell the story of the song. I try and think of it as a voice or several voices and aspire to convey the emotions of those voices through my playing. Easier said than done though right?
Great observations….I can’t say I never aimed to fill measures up with as many notes as possible… I tuck my pick away under my fingers lately cause I like the skin tone plus it slows me down. I haven’t seen the daily chords in a bit…. Are you still doing them?
@@michaelgoyettemusic I guess we have a lot of teenage boys that listen to thrash metal around these parts. haha. I don't use a pick much these days either. I find I can be much more expressive with my fingers. Daily Chords still on the go. I think YT is probably trying the shorts feed in different regions again. Looks that way from where the views are coming from in the stats anyway. Still putting a full vid out every week too. Manging to stick to it OK and the channels slowly growing, so it's all good. 😀
one thing ive never seen a reactor say on any his stuff is the fact that no verse or chorus if there is one is repeated like 90% of rock pop songs,, just remembering the lyrics is amazing
Young Lady this is possibly the most talent in music today since before beethovens days. You should dive into the ren hole and would make for a first class dissertation. Perfect production performance professor with quite the back story and an other world talent. Pass it on. . . . . . and enjoy an emotional roller-coaster.
Made it to the end! Please tell me I heard incorrectly that the 90's are classic rock! 😂😂 God, I'm old! She is a delight and I hope to see her reacting to more Ren. ❤️
At the end you mentioned you hear a lot of 90's influences in Ren. I would say a lot of his Hip-Hop side is steeped in what he grew up with, be it his dope homage to Naz, or his more fun side with the Love Music series that almost bleeds one style of mid to late 90's UK rapping (not Hip-Hop). But beyond that I see him being influenced by a vast range. During the introduction to Jenny's tale he deliberately leans against a surface with his guitar as a opening serenade, playing classical influenced Italian/Spanish mix up. In Violet's Tale he throws in a heavy Italian/Morricone style Spaghetti Western treat, and his subsequent vocals match both Morricone's and Sergio Leone's love of the human voice. He also has a line in The Hunger... Something like "Jamming (to) Django Reinhardt in a Primark carpark". I think 90's was/is just his base from where he started from... like we all do. But he seems to have just expanded out and explored anything (like a smaller portion of us do). I wish Jorja the best on her journey. I hope she learns some 3/5 or even a 4/4 with a off beat note that works it's way back.
He does have various influences….my point was that I have an understanding of Ren because I was a 90s guitarist….we share many of the same influences….that’s a big reason I like him so much. ✌️
I like when reactors are introducing songs to people. They can point out things as it happens. Is she familiar with The Warning yet? They would be perfect inspiration for her.

A teenage runaway might have a chance at being a beneficiary of this but a pregnant teenage runaway certainly has the qualifications to be granted this benefit. It’s spelled Jorja btw….and you’ll be seeing a little more of her I’m sure.
Your support is well timed and I thank you for it! 🍻 ✌️ ❤️
Yes
You're spot re: the 1990's influences, he actually has a song called "1990's", paying homage to all things '90's! Great reaction btw, love and respect from England 😊
✌️
Good luck Georgia ❤
❤ from Northeast England ❤️
Ren music hooked line in sinker me and my ears
❤❤❤❤
❤️
i do love that your introducing the next generation of artists to one of the best all around artrtist weve had in a while. if you haven't seen polyphia yet you guys should look into them. the things tim henson does with his fingers are absolute magic.
welcome to the world of ren yo.
He seriously said, "Are you ready for this?" when he pushed play. Oh, and YO
Love you exposing students to this art.
Yo. Didn't realize you hadn't reacted to this already. I've seen a lot of your Ren stuff. I'm glad Georgia is a new fan. Deep rabbit hole to fall through.
Thanks!
Thank you so much! That’s so kind of you. ❤️
Yo! And Good luck to Jorja!
Yo. Really enjoyed that. Please do more like that if you can.
Ohh and you should bring her back and show her some big push.
You should check out when Ren plays piano like on money game part 3. You really get a glimpse at his level and ability
The local classic rock station has been playing grunge for over a decade now. 😂 I’m old too!!
Yo unique lesson reaction
Enjoyed it all
Yo Georgia... keep on Rocking in the real world!!
No more interruptions...im not gonna stop it too much...😂
