This was quite the emotional journey and damn I had a lot of thoughts. He is such a talent and I loved how everything connected so well. The way he is able to convey emotion in such a seemingly believable way is crazy. Anyways please go listen to my music!!
Jenny's tale was the saddest of all... at 14, she's walking the streets late at night in high heels (and has walked thoose streets a thousand times before). SO she ran away from foster care at an early age only to end up on the streets, and always looking for a way to escape that life. And when she finally 'escapes' (at the hands of a brother she never knew) it definitely wasn't in the way she intended.
This... All Facts! Ren can be Compared to No One! Not in the way others say it about others... But For Real For Real!!! Lol More layers than an onion, More Bars than a Prison! That's Ren!!!
Yep. If you watch closely you can see the cord plugged into his guitar, the lapel mic clipped on by his neck, and the wireless pack on his back that both are connected to. The pack is most noticeable in Violet's Tale because it's not under a jacket or anything.
Live with a lapel mic. The story behind this, as I know it, is Ren read a story about a young thug killing a young prostitute. The article ended with "it's such a shame". The rest of the story sprung from that and, to me, is meant to highlight how deep these things can go and how "it's such a shame" doesn't really cover it.
Yes, all three Tales are live one-takes, so during Screech, Ren REALLY was playing expert guitar while walking down stairs and screaming on top of his lungs at around 2 AM.
Wow. First time on your channel and I'm blown away by your ability to pick up all the things that seemed important to me about this performance. Subbed. 🤘
Ren saw a newspaper story in which a 14 year old boy stabbed a prostitute in London and then he allowed his amazingly creative mind to fill in the details. Violet's Tale was written later and I believe she is fictitious. Lovely reaction. Thank you for reacting to Ren.
After watching many of Ren's podcasts, and the 4 interviews he done with YT reactors, Ren has never mentioned this story once. Interesting where you got it from?? 😉
@@protarget1 Black Pegasus interview if I'm not mistaken. He said that it was en experpt from a police file where the cop had written about how they had both died and it was "such a shame" the line such a shame is a direct qoute from the document. What i doubt is that you have whatched "the 4 interviews he done with YT reactors” because I've never heard him on a podcast but i am certain I heard this from his mouth in one of those 4 I think it was Black Pegasus but it might be one of the others. I guess you weren;t paying attention.
I believe Ren's mind is deep enough that this song is about how we are all brothers and sisters and don't realize it, and how we are so cruel to one another, generation after generation.
@@colnixon8989 I think it helps with the flow. I see most other reactors do that and I think it makes it smother. Sorry to see you got out the wrong side of the bed bro. Hope the rest of your day is better. Be positive bro.
@@colnixon8989 Just pointing out you’re being a bit of a prick. Do you talk that way to everyone? Are you always a nasty human? Nature vs nurture. What happened to you bro? Did someone hurt you along the way? Just curious.
Incredible reaction Andrea. I've watched many reactions to this, you saw things missed by most (2 types of guitar for instance) and your musical insight was interesting. As you noticed in the third tale, it's live, all one take. The topics are grim but unfortunately, all too real. Ren has the freedom to explore areas I've never seen anyone try before. Shout out to his videographer, Sam. You see him in Power (with fixed cameras in a car). Genesis is another one-take shot by Sam as is Money Game 1 I think.
We don't get Jenny's back story. But a 14 yr old in high heels.. Walking the streets at night.. As she's done a thousand times before.. wanting to escape her life.. It does paint a bleak picture of her life. Presumably they were separated. Both ended up in the foster care system. And that system failed them both. :(
Just like he did in his song/video for Hi Ren, when it is coming from the perspective of Jenny he has a softer cadence and uses the finger picking style on the guitar, but when he switches to Scheech's perspective the vocals have more intensity and his guitar cadence has a more harsher sound all to just really set the tone for their characters. He is such an amazing story teller! He just hit 1 mil subscribers today too
Jenny was a 14-year-old girl wearing high heels and walking the back streets of London a 1000 times, so yes, she was a girl of the streets also. Interesting that Jenny was silent like her mother and that cost her when her brother acted like his dad.
And it’s crazy that it seems that violets children were from her father, not Stevie, because she moved out at 16 falls fast for Stevie, and that’s why he’s so upset with her and calling her a slur and a liar
What's really gonna blow everyone's mind is when you all realize the Patrick didn't answer down in number 54 for the same reason his girlfriend said she was busy.
Much as with "Hi Ren," he's changing the picking/strum based on who's the focus. In Jenny's tale, it was the opening/closing narration, narrating Jenny, and Screech. For Screech's Tale, it was Opening/Closing, Screech, Narrator (even intensified, it was the same rhythm). For Violet's Tale, It's the Refrain and Narration. Each shot live in on continuous shot on the streets of London. Reportedly based on a newspaper article of a prostitute was stabbed by a youth, who was killed by police later. There was a major uptick in knife assaults at the time. He highlights in both of the original tales "Such a shame." which is what everyone says when tragedy strikes others. Violet is an amazing tale of generational violence and quirks of fate; Jenny gets the quiet of her mother, and Screech inherits the worst traits of his father and grandfather. The use of natural reverb was quite intentional, especially the stairwell. He then goes outside to remove it entirely. Vioelt's tale ends in the same spot Jenny fell.
This tale should be studied in universities and Colleges it has a lot of hidden meanings along side the obvious cycle of violence, lots of questions to be answered and discussed, it’s a masterpiece of that there is no doubt, searching out the “Easter eggs” and finding out more about the characters makes this a truly intriguing tale.
Back when I was in college (1999) my sociology class covered generational trauma and cycles briefly. But Ren explains more in this one song, and it's so much more eloquently delivered, than my textbook or professor ever could. You're so right.
This was a fantastic reaction Andrea, well done. I think Ren read a story in a newspaper about a young girl getting killed on her way home and from this these songs were born.
Yes, he noriced that every time something like this happens everyone says it is such a shame. A year after Jennie and Screech he added VIolets tale questioning whether generational violence was passed down for some reason, sometimes even when the kids were not raised by thier parents.
This was undoubtedly the best breakdown of this song I have seen yet! I’m sure I’ve seen more than 50. You have an incredible knack for this! Maybe because you play and sing and songwrite yourself. I’ve seen some reactors break down one facet or another but your ear for the music, appreciation for production, grasp of the lyrics and message, your commentary…. All of it is top notch! I only recently found your reacts to REN and I have been so impressed and really enjoyed them so far. It doesent seem like you’ve done a lot. I hope you know not all RENs music is heavy or sad. Those are often the reacts people push first cause they are so emotional. Ren has so many other songs that are happy and beautiful and inspirational. I hope to see more reacts coming! I’ve also been checking out your music! ❤ Any suggestions?
Ren's singing style at the beginning of Screech's Tale is reminiscent of the musical theater done by Kurt Weil before World War II, such as Threepenny Opera.
This was a really good reaction, Andrea. I like how you bring Ren into YOUR channel. You talk about the different guitars, his tone, his performance all around. And THAT's exactly WHY I came and watched and subbed.. You delivered the content I was anticipating. This was a great transaction. ty for the video 8-)
You can tell it's live at the point where the cop shoots screech, you can hear his necklace on his guitar, and when he beats his chest just prior to that. and the heavy breaths when he calls his girlfriend.
@@AndreaSilvestro I really like How to Be Me (live) Ren x Chinchilla. If you fell in love with Chinchilla in Chalk Outlines, you may want to consider reacting to her performing Fingers (live) for Hunger TV. Spectacular performance. Ren's Money Game is a live one take video that would make good use of your attention to detail. His latest release, Murderer, is a fun watch; audio isn't live, but video is a one take as well. Super catchy! I see some other good recommendations here, so I'll leave it at that.
Andrea, the empathy that you feel throughout the reaction is both real and appropriate. At its heart the story is one of modern systems failing people across generations. Violet's twins are Jenny and Screech. Their mom is murdered by their dad. They are separated and lost in the foster system. They meet again on a London street where they have no idea they are brother and sister. Violence, random coincidence, fate... we all get to decide.
There's science behind that kids take on the traits of the parents even without knowing them. As in this case, Jenny took on the traits of her mother. She become still and quite, in times of trauma. On the other hand, Screech took the traits of his father. He would be violent and easily irritated. Truly a great idea for a song. Pretty sure Ren read something that happened along these lines in the paper.
In 2005 there was a story in a london newspaper about a streetwalker who was killed by a 14 year old boy. That was the inspiration for Ren to use his brilliant mind to create this trilogy.
Love your reaction. Ren always delivers for me, but it's so good to hear the opinion of other talented musicians. Love your stuff as well, you need to got some more original stuff out there! I'm sure there are many people who will love your voice and playing. Ren has been doing this for 20 years now and is only now beginning to really take off, so never stop trying! ❤🤘🤘
This is one of the best analysis of the trilogy I've seen. GD you're so insightful and eloquent. Please don't change your setup, I could see every reaction you had on your face. SO GOOD!
All three of these songs are taken from the live audio. You can hear the rustle of his jacket, the door when he leaned against it, and in Violet's tale you really hear the difference in acoustics as he walks around and playing/singing as he moves location. They were also all 1 take videos with no editing as well
The interesting thing about the acoustics in Violets tale is how they sync up to the lyrics. When Violet is trapped early and later with Stevie the camera and the acoustics are close. When the story and Violets situation are escaping or descriptive but not from her perspective the acoustics and camera pull off. Very clever work.
Glad you noticed the change in voice into the hallway . All his videos are single take (after other single takes). He walked that way and just recorded. Amazing for a person that cant play live for some time...
If you read this. When Ren says the line.’ London city far from pretty two zero zero five’. He is referring to the year 2005. He wrote this song in 2019 which means that given the fact that Jenny and screech were 14 years old they were born in 2005. Many people don’t pick up on this it’s the only reason I mentioned it.
I know what you mean about his voice…you should react to Oh My Woman by his former band the Big Push…you will hear REN singing a love song…his voice is marvelous. Also do Heretic, Ready For You, and Crutch.…their is just so much to RENs musical art form…he uses his voice like the instrument that it is…it’s borderline insane. REN performed this live on the streets of Brighton and he talked about his belief that their is beauty in the ugly and ugly in the beautiful…I think this comes out in much of his music and it’s clearly a theme in the trilogy….you where picking that up so well in your reaction. FYI his latest song drops tomorrow…it’s called Murderer….I think it a real banger that makes you wanna dance. REN hit a million subs today so he will be releasing a song a week in August and the entire 18 song album in September.✌🏼
Just found your channel so I'm not sure if you've checked out any Ren x Chinchilla songs yet like How To Be Me LIVE VERSION, Chalk Outlines, or their few busking videos. They're so amazing together.
18:53 as part of the promotion of Screech's Tale (released 4 years after Jennys Tale due to Ren being too ill to perform it for the video) Ren released an entire day of "Screech's Instagram Stories" which start on Ren's return to London having performed with The Big Push in Birmingham & Ren has his phone snatched whilst recording the video by none other than Screech himself. The rest explains who "babe are you in", "Patrick man, let me in, I can't knock no more" & his location when Screech needs him. But it explains why Screech is desperate & values his life so little also! Please watch & maybe react?
Great breakdown, with much more insight into the instruments, voice use, and awareness of the daily violence that some people experience. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Thank you.
How crazy about music is such a universal language that captivating to hear all the time which is why people understand the meaning of the way he bring it up to this day cause almost all of the reaction notice the rewind sound.. Its just.. Wow...
Also, Jenny wasn’t trying to get away, the lyrics specify she was frozen by fear like a statue in stiletto shoes! She just didn’t respond to Screech’s demand for her purse & her phone...‘cos she was frozen by fear. Screech was just a vicious little c*nt!
Ren brings up subjects that we usually don’t walk about, they should be discussed more openly, to stop issues like this. If people feel they can bring up there issues to with trusted people. Ren is definitely someone the worlds needs these days. He music, lyrics, storytelling, videos and everything he does is just pure genius.
Screech’s backstory/precursor to the tales. Ren also did a bit of writing in the comments section of this video explaining things. th-cam.com/video/BICvZAS1FR0/w-d-xo.html
This song is just like Ren played a Bard for this story-tell. Each part have their own rythm and style, and the way he tell the story and played the characters are amazing like a professional's actor. (He can do anything , that's amazing). The producer who help Ren to do the video is Samuel (not remember his last name) appear in an another video clip "Power" (The driver). In violet's tale, the rewind to the past, his left hand goes to the right hand then later when he comeback to the present, his left hand goes to the opposite to right hand , really genius. Violet was abused by her father and the mom knew. She get pregnant from his father and at her 16y old she quit the house for a bad guy who beat her to death saying she's a liar because he knew the baby was not from him. Twins get separated then the rest ....we know. It's based on a true story (For Jenny , a young Steetwalker get killed then the rest were fiction). There is a live (with crowd )of the Story of Jenny & Screech in full 360, we can move the camera : Ren - The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full 360 Live Performance) : th-cam.com/video/S_hs8EkWeZg/w-d-xo.html
Fantastic reaction Filmed on the streets in Brighton England I would imagine in the middle of the night one take live performances Just to mention you had some audio drop outs during the reaction but it did not detract from a great reaction
I'm guessing, but the audio dropouts seemed to be surrounding words YT doesn't like and penalize creators for using. Ab*se, DV, etc. If you look at how Ren's video Suic*de is titled, that's for YT guidelines. Idk how making people jog around the block to find a way to say a specific word helps anything when it's in proper context, but ... 🤷🏻♀️
Ren is very unusual in the variety and depths of his talents. He’s a fantastic composer and lyricist which are complimented by his ability to play Guitar, electric guitar, bass, drums and piano coupled with an incredibly flexible vocal range. In addition he produces his own music, writes his own beats and directs his own videos. It almost doesn’t seem fair!but his mum was a singing teacher and his dad was a music producer so he’s been surrounded by music all his life. I think his illness whilst obviously being totally debilitating for him also helped make him the musician he is today because being trapped in his bedroom for years made him focus and home his skills. This part of his life also explains why he is so well read and his vocabulary so extensive. It’s probably not an exaggeration to say that both literature and music preserved his sanity and maybe his life.
The ' carnival' bit in Screech's tale always gives me a Bertolt Brecht vibe and I always think he's going to 'Trumpet' the theme from The Godfather. Back in the '70's I remember seeing footage of a Cameraman filming a soldier shooting at the enemy in the distance. Then the soldier turned around and shot the Cameraman who was so engrossed in filming he didn't realise he was about to be shot. All you saw was the camera falling down like in Screech's Tale. I'm wondering if this is where Ren or Joe got the idea from.
Those words don't even remotely come close to describing Ren. He's a world class musician, composer, rapper, poet, piano player, guitar player and singer just to name a few.
He was playing with the idea of a medieval bard. Hence the overall style of the piece and all the little classical and medieval guitar licks. Believe it or not he's actually self-taught on acoustic guitar. As he is on electric guitar, bass, ukulele, mandolin, piano/keyboard and drums, all of which he plays at a really high standard. He plays several other instruments really well too. He beatboxes really well too and is a world-class rapper. As for his voice, you haven't heard anything yet. He has an amazing voice, capable of multiple styles and tones. The fact that two of his biggest vocal influences are Jeff Bucley, Nina Simone, Sting and Bob Marley, should give you a bit of a clue. :) Btw, he lays down all of his own music/beats, producing everything himself! He covers numerous genres. Mixing them up too. Rock, reggae, punk, rap, hip-hop, soul, dance/edm, folk, jazz, blues... He does them all and does them really well! The fact that he's done all this whilst suffering from extremely debilitating and incurable, chronic illnesses, is quite remarkable. For almost 10 years an incorrect diagnosis, led to the wrong medication and treatment and a serious deterioration in his condition. For years he was pretty much stuck in his bedroom, unable to go out, or do anything much, suffering from insomnia and near constant chronic pain, unable to eat much and on a severely restricted diet, due to his autoimmunity having made him highly allergic to virtually all food. Yet whenever he could, he'd practice guitar and keyboard and any other instruments he could get his hands on, and write, record and produce music. He's said that he's learned to make the most of those small windows of opportunity, when he's able to do something, because he never knew when the next window would arise. Eventually a correct diagnosis, correct treatment and stem cell implants, improved his condition significantly but, despite appearances, he's still seriously ill, with many of the same symptoms as previously. He's currently undergoing experimental treatments in Canada, in an attempt to repair some of the extensive damage done to his body and brain over the years Understandably, he's become an inspiration to many. He's determined to remain independent, which means he's unlikely to attract the same attention, or achieve the same level of commercial success as those signed to labels but artistic freedom and personal control over his music are more important to him. It really is all about the music with Ren. He was signed by Sony when he was in his late teens but the contract was terminated shortly afterwards, when he became ill. Most of his fans see this as having been a blessing in disguise. I've yet to hear a bad song from Ren and a dozen, at least, are bona fide masterpieces! His lyricism alone is outstanding! He's a poet really. All his trials and tribulations have given him a great perspective on what matters in life. Despite undoubted intelligence and talent, as well as recent success and adulation, he remains down-to-earth, with a wicked, often self-deprecating, sense of humour. His character was shown by the fact that despite not having earned much yet, he donated a large chunk of his royalties to the family of his best friend, who committed suicide and to the lifeboat station that searched for his friend's body. The fact that this was an incident from 13 years ago, yet it was the first thing he thought of to do wth his newly earned money, just makes it all the more poignant and illustrates his genuine character perfectly. :) tl/dr - Ren's great! Ren's music's great! Definitely react to more Ren! You won't be disappointed! :) P.S. I'd also recommend checking out his interview/discussion with the TH-cam reactor 'Rosalie'. It really gives an insight to Ren and his thoughts and is totally engrossing besides. Unlike many artists, Ren's incredibly supportive of reactors and will frequently promote their channels in various ways. He's described it as a 'positive feedback loop' where both he and reactors are helping each other to grow. Thus, he never pursues copyright claims himself. If a third party makes such a claim, on his behalf, which is rare, just appeal the decision and he'll automatically strike the claim down. :)
As a fellow youTuber who also does reaction videos among other things I spent a lot of time watching other reactors and have probably watched at least 60 or 70 people react to this song. And well over 100 reactors watching Ren in general. And I can tell you they have been very few TH-cam reactors get through Violet’s Tale without either becoming extremely emotional or crying outright and it’s includes myself and I am a 51 year-old Australian male Army Veteran. I think that feeling deep emotions from songs like this isn’t a sign of weakness it’s a sign of empathy. I’m not sure how many of your viewers are aware or if you are aware that the inspiration for this song was Ren seeing a news article. I don’t know whether it was on TV or in the newspaper or something but apparently somewhere in the UK a 14 year-old girl was actually robbed and killed by a knife and the news story apparently seemed very insincere ending a very short story about it with the words “ it’s such a shame” And from what I heard Ren say he felt that using that phrase to cover something so Tragic seemed cold and detached yet when he ends each tale with those exact words he does it with genuine empathy and passion and he sounds amazing. I have heard rumours although I haven’t heard Ren confirm or deny these that Jenny was possibly a prostitute given the fact that the lyrics state that she was walking home in the morning after being out all night at the age of 14 and she had walked those streets 1000 times before. Sure it could be just coincidence maybe but for a 14-year-old to have walked any streets 1000 times seems unlikely unless they had a reason for it. Given the life that both James and Jenny had with their mother being killed and their father likely incarcerated for murder or at the very least manslaughter they would likely have been raised in the foster system or similar government agency which of course isn’t always a great way to get through life. And it sounds like they didn’t stay in the system very long because by 14 they are both seemingly alone in life. Without family. And ironically screech grew up to be violent like his father and Jenny grew up to be scared and silent like her mother. The fact that from a single news story that Ren was able to extrapolate such an amazing trilogy of songs that hit you deep in the feels is a true credit to his amazing songwriting ability. The fact that is album went to #1 in the UK charts this year is no surprise even though it’s very rare in my experience that independent artists without any record label support ever land a nationwide #1 Album.
13:33 the kid killed someone.. He didn't want to but it just happened. So him loosing it at his Mrs is completely understandable. So, when you say it's a red flag... I don't think anybody would really would have too much experience as this situation was a die or get arrested. 16:28 producers? It's just ren and Sam
Watching your reaction to the end of Screech’s Tale and cringing in anticipation of your reaction to Violet’s Tale, since it’s even more intense. Violet’s Tale sort of answers your question about “Why?” Intergenerational trauma affecting epigenetics is the answer Ren suggests.
Ren was made for performance art. He can sing, act, play instruments , rap..and yes these are one takes with him actually singing. No lip syncing and no auto tune
Side note, he added details to the stories on IG and Patrick wasn’t home and Screech’s GF was busy bc they were together. Just adding to the fact that screech had no one that really cared about him.
You stopped the video to many times to grasp the story. Violet was jen and screech's mother. The twins would have been put into the care system, split up and grew up not knowing each other. So screech killed his sister. A very tragic story.
@AndreaSilvestro I’m not sure how much you’re personally invested in RENs music in general or how much you know about his video making process. But if you are curious many of his more popular videos, such as Hi Ren, Money Game, Chalk Outlines and This Video were all shot by his friend Sam and were filmed in one single take and performed live. So Ren uses a combination of microphones depending on the video for example in Hi Ren he has a lapel Mic on his hospital gown and his guitar is clearly plugged into an amplifier. In this trilogy of Tales he is using a microphone attached to his guitar and another somewhere on his clothing which you can clearly tell when at the very beginning you can hear his foot hit the wall as he backs into it. You can hear him cough just before he start singing to clear his throat and other things that would normally be edited out in a studio recording. I feel the raw and organic manner in which these videos are filmed make them more emotional. In Hi Ren they were extremely limited for time and it only took four attempts before they got the video done in one take. However, in an interview I heard Ren say that Money Game PT 1 Took something like 130+ attempts before they were content with the final product and that he was completely exhausted by the end of it. I am unsure how many attempts were made on each of these three chapters before they achieved the final takes but I feel it was probably a lot.
All Live! Listen to the wind, birds, jacket rustling, zipper hitting guitar, etc... Yes... what's played live IS what you're hearing! And yes... One take!
Great reaction 👌 his inspiration was a news paper story about a kid killing a young prostitute the rest is all Ren, I love Humble with Eden Nash. ✌️❤️🏴
The reason why we all switched from classic guitars to steel stringed Western guitars was bonfires! We needed amplification! And the 'Western guitar' gave us that possibility! Standing around the bonfire and not being able to be heard just sucks so hard!
I love how it's just life story aspects, no commentary or agenda, using this as a centerpiece for conversation is more helpful than starting with politics or criminality in a black and white way. Most world be black and white about it but this would bring the rest to the table
when Ren starts tapping the guitar and vocalising at the beginning of Violet's Tale... it totally reminds me of Ennio Morricone's theme music for Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, particularly the Clint Eastwood trilogy 😎🤘 Respect & Peace ☘
Great reaction and analysis, Andrea! All your comments were on point, well done! Your musical background certainly helped a lot. I just have one minor complaint: I don't think you should have muted those "keywords" from your commentary, because that was exactly the message Ren was trying to convey: the neverending cycle of violence and domestic abuse. By "censoring" these words, you risk cancelling Ren's message. Being open and upfront about these topics helps more, than trying not to trigger people. Having said that, I understand why you chose to do that and it's a sign of a sensitive and considerate person. You did an amazing job overall, keep it up!
Ren can play almost any instrument and is self-taught. I once found it extremely amusing when I heard a TH-cam reactor saying that if you glued a BONG to a NERF GUN. Ren would figure out a way to play it. 😜 I actually think that’s a pretty damn good analogy of his talent.
I cut out certain words because the topic are not appropriate for TH-cam. I was trying to prevent getting demonetized, but I still did. If you want the full video with no cut out words check out my patreon: www.patreon.com/posts/86358804?

Musician Reacts to Ren - The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Official Music Video). This was quite the emotional journey and damn I had a lot of thoughts. He is such a talent and I loved how everything connected so well. The way he is able to convey emotion in such a seemingly believable way is crazy. Anyways please go listen to my music!!
You understood ren on a far deeper level than most.
@@Mr.Ekshin I am not so sure if Violet's tale is any better: Abused in her childhood and having a lover who killed her 9 month pregnant.
This is live. He does one take videos but you have to do 10 maybe 20 takes to get that perfect one shot of the song.
Screech committed "suicidebycop"
Andrea at the end of Screech's Tale, "Damn, these are some heavy topics."
Ren ... "Hold my beer ..."
yes, recorded live - and all one takes. Also, you gave props to the producers, that would be Ren - he also directs them with his Cinematographer (Sam)
This... All Facts! Ren can be Compared to No One! Not in the way others say it about others...
But For Real For Real!!! Lol
More layers than an onion, More Bars than a Prison!
That's Ren!!!
insane!
Yep. If you watch closely you can see the cord plugged into his guitar, the lapel mic clipped on by his neck, and the wireless pack on his back that both are connected to. The pack is most noticeable in Violet's Tale because it's not under a jacket or anything.
Never seen this girl before but as a guitarist of 20+ years she knows the instrument. Ren definitely knows it as well, dude is crazy. Good breakdown
thanks :) appreciate the kindness!
It's also about how people don't realize that we are all related. He just drew that relation closer.
Yes, all three Tales are live one-takes, so during Screech, Ren REALLY was playing expert guitar while walking down stairs and screaming on top of his lungs at around 2 AM.
Such a great breakdown and reaction. Keep doing what you're doing! ❤ from the UK 🇬🇧
Wow. First time on your channel and I'm blown away by your ability to pick up all the things that seemed important to me about this performance. Subbed. 🤘
thank you!! appreciate it a lot
Ren saw a newspaper story in which a 14 year old boy stabbed a prostitute in London and then he allowed his amazingly creative mind to fill in the details. Violet's Tale was written later and I believe she is fictitious. Lovely reaction. Thank you for reacting to Ren.
that kid died after killing the street walker
@@protarget1 if its not Black Pegasus it might've been Justin Hawkins.
@@sketchtherapy1218 I can't remember if he said anything, gives me a good excuse to check out the interviews again. 😊
I believe Ren's mind is deep enough that this song is about how we are all brothers and sisters and don't realize it, and how we are so cruel to one another, generation after generation.
Excellent. I never thought of that. Knowing what I know now about ren and his other work, I think you hit the bullseye
One suggestion. When you get back to the song after talking about a section , rewind a couple of seconds before the place you had stopped at.
Why, do you forget what has happened that easily?
@@colnixon8989 I think it helps with the flow. I see most other reactors do that and I think it makes it smother. Sorry to see you got out the wrong side of the bed bro. Hope the rest of your day is better. Be positive bro.
@@Jimmy-Legs Sorry, I didn't realise you were such a sensitive soul.
@@colnixon8989 Just pointing out you’re being a bit of a prick. Do you talk that way to everyone? Are you always a nasty human? Nature vs nurture. What happened to you bro? Did someone hurt you along the way? Just curious.
I have watched this 149 times and you made the 150th reaction the best, you really made the whole 36.46 a treat to watch, brilliant.
ty for watching!!
Wow I am the same almost 145 I will catch up to you
Incredible reaction Andrea.
Isn't violets tale a backstory to this as I'm pretty sure she's their mum
Yup an violets dad is the father of her twins ,it's amazing an when screech can't get in his mates then his girlfriend is busy mmmm makes ya think
He just hit 1 mil subscribers today too
thank you for reacting and supporting my favourite artist ever ❤❤❤
😲
😮
Good catch
SAY WHAT
@@rleezey09 Patrick was banging screeches girlfriend. That's why Patrick wasn't home and his girl was busy.
Ocean is one of my favorites from Ren, basically no video, but worth a listen.
Vioelt's tale ends in the same spot Jenny fell.
such a good reaction. your music knowledge is amazing.
A year after Jennie and Screech he added VIolets tale questioning whether generational violence was passed down for some reason, sometimes even when the kids were not raised by thier parents.
ty for watching!!
Thank you for sharing your Ren Journey with us! Your reaction and insights are so amazing!
thank you!
Glad someone else has noted this too
This was a really good reaction, Andrea.
I like how you bring Ren into YOUR channel.
You talk about the different guitars, his tone, his performance all around.
And THAT's exactly WHY I came and watched and subbed.. You delivered the content I was anticipating.
This was a great transaction.
ty for the video 8-)
thank you so much!! i appreciate it a lot
Nice work keep it up we are with you ❤❤❤
You can tell it's live at the point where the cop shoots screech, you can hear his necklace on his guitar, and when he beats his chest just prior to that. and the heavy breaths when he calls his girlfriend.
Very thorough analysis without leaving out the heart; I liked it, and am subscribing in hopes you will cover more Ren.
what should i watch?
Violence, random coincidence, fate... we all get to decide.
ty for watching!
Hands down, you are the most beautiful reactor on the tubeTv You are also the best reactor. How did you do that??/
I subscribed so thank you. Your reaction was so perfect. The best. You picked up on things I thought were so integral I’m a fan now. Will follow you.
Awesome reaction, appreciate the in depth opinions n thought and effort you put into this reaction. Killed it chica 🍻
thank you!!
The first two tales were prompted by a newspaper article, Violets tale was written two years latter, amazing.
Great reaction 😊 ! Now you are going down the Ren rabbit hole enjoy the journey !
awh thank you! i have some on streaming :)

I really enjoy how much you share as you notice things through your reactions.
This is one of the best analysis of the trilogy I've seen. GD you're so insightful and eloquent. Please don't change your setup, I could see every reaction you had on your face. SO GOOD!
Considering that you played Ren's words "f%@king c$@t" I don't think you needed to cut your own insights.
thank you!! appreciate it
All three of these songs are taken from the live audio.
You are a sweet soul Andrea…thank you for your personal thoughts and insights
Her: I see you Producers...
Ren: Thanks!
This is the first time I hear about this.. amazing and thank you..
Any guidance where to see these?
Great breakdown, with much more insight into the instruments, voice use, and awareness of the daily violence that some people experience. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Thank you.
How crazy about music is such a universal language that captivating to hear all the time which is why people understand the meaning of the way he bring it up to this day cause almost all of the reaction notice the rewind sound.. Its just.. Wow...
Damn Girl you can sure talk lol I’m impressed you got it that quick as much as u paused it. Good reaction you was spot on. You got my sub.
Also, Jenny wasn’t trying to get away, the lyrics specify she was frozen by fear like a statue in stiletto shoes! She just didn’t respond to Screech’s demand for her purse & her phone...‘cos she was frozen by fear. Screech was just a vicious little c*nt!
Congratulations on one of the best reactions to this song .. keep up the good work 👍👍👍
thank you so much!!
Jenny was quiet and still, like her mother and Screech was violent like his father.
ren does everything live that i know of
Ren brings up subjects that we usually don’t walk about, they should be discussed more openly, to stop issues like this.
There is a live (with crowd )of the Story of Jenny & Screech in full 360, we can move the camera :
Ren - The Tale of Jenny and Screech (Full 360 Live Performance) : th-cam.com/video/S_hs8EkWeZg/w-d-xo.html
Nice review Andrea. Good to hear a singers perspective. Though you added a great deal more relevant comments than others.
thank you!
A wonderful reaction. Great work.
thank you!
You’re overthinking this. Inspiration can come from everyday life.
^^yes it is because of TH-cam guidelines I apologize.
Thank you for the reaction
Damn, he is a talented musician/writer. His songs are unique, at least to me. He pulls you into his story.
Each is a live one-take, with ambient reverb from the environment played with in Violet particularly.
Ren is a true artist. He is extremely talented. He is also a real story teller. Ren is the total gifted package.
So many appreciate the 'rewind' guitar sequence, but You're the first one to mention the 'going back forward' part. 🧭
I'm wondering if this is where Ren or Joe got the idea from.
two words describe Ren ... Bard Core is a mix of modern and medieval styles
Those words don't even remotely come close to describing Ren. He's a world class musician, composer, rapper, poet, piano player, guitar player and singer just to name a few.
@@snappingbear they are his own words as to how he describes himself ..I just re-itterated them
He was playing with the idea of a medieval bard.
He's currently undergoing experimental treatments in Canada, in an attempt to repair some of the extensive damage done to his body and brain over the years
Understandably, he's become an inspiration to many.
tl/dr - Ren's great! Ren's music's great! Definitely react to more Ren! You won't be disappointed! :)
I don’t know whether it was on TV or in the newspaper or something but apparently somewhere in the UK a 14 year-old girl was actually robbed and killed by a knife and the news story apparently seemed very insincere ending a very short story about it with the words “ it’s such a shame”
And from what I heard Ren say he felt that using that phrase to cover something so Tragic seemed cold and detached yet when he ends each tale with those exact words he does it with genuine empathy and passion and he sounds amazing.
Had some good insights in your reaction.
Andrea: your hair straight looks awesome. Very nice. Glad you are well.
That's a cringe middle aged white guy on the internet type of comment 😬
@DpMario11 interesting comment. So if I were 20 years old and not white, then I would get free pass to compliment someone online?
@DpMario11 it's been 5 days now, and you still haven't answered my question. I'll wait.
NO it is not lip synced! It’s live and done in one take!
You look like a super model, but that isn't the most fascinating thing about you, but it's your personality. Thank you for a great reaction, sis
Yes, these things happen in London. Knife crime (As far as I'm aware), has been on a massive rise, to a peak in 2019-2020.
Ren was made for performance art. He can sing, act, play instruments , rap..and yes these are one takes with him actually singing. No lip syncing and no auto tune
Ren always does these things live.
Side note, he added details to the stories on IG and Patrick wasn’t home and Screech’s GF was busy bc they were together. Just adding to the fact that screech had no one that really cared about him.
His transition from singing/talking/rapping.... is very theatrical... he could do theater easily.
Wikipedia 2223 A.D.: "REN - Musician & philosopher & poet & bard &... just genius of 21-st century!" Thanks for reaction!
REN is BARDCORE....welcome to the world of REN...great reaction
It's live. There's no cuts or edits so it makes sense.
You stopped the video to many times to grasp the story. Violet was jen and screech's mother. The twins would have been put into the care system, split up and grew up not knowing each other. So screech killed his sister. A very tragic story.
and their father was their grandfather
Thanks!Can You Please Marry REN❤
thanks for the channel support :) would love the chance to meet him first off!
Standing around the bonfire and not being able to be heard just sucks so hard!
the reason she was busy when made phone call is because she was with Patrick that why he never answer the door
I love how it's just life story aspects, no commentary or agenda, using this as a centerpiece for conversation is more helpful than starting with politics or criminality in a black and white way. Most world be black and white about it but this would bring the rest to the table
when Ren starts tapping the guitar and vocalising at the beginning of Violet's Tale... it totally reminds me of Ennio Morricone's theme music for Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns, particularly the Clint Eastwood trilogy 😎🤘
Respect & Peace ☘
Enjoyed!
Great reaction and analysis, Andrea! All your comments were on point, well done! Your musical background certainly helped a lot.
I just have one minor complaint:
I don't think you should have muted those "keywords" from your commentary, because that was exactly the message Ren was trying to convey: the neverending cycle of violence and domestic abuse.
By "censoring" these words, you risk cancelling Ren's message.
Being open and upfront about these topics helps more, than trying not to trigger people.
Having said that, I understand why you chose to do that and it's a sign of a sensitive and considerate person.
You did an amazing job overall, keep it up!
thank you!! it was because my video was getting blocked from TH-cam, so I tried to fix it but ty for the kind comment!
That's the whole point. He's hoping to make a difference in making a connection to the very people who are commiting so much pain to Fellow Humans.
