Despite the use of a bayonet being an important part of military training, in the Napoleonic Wars melees such as the ones you see in this game occurred very rarely, because neither side wanted to engage in it. Long, drawn out melees between line infantry were very uncommon. Even if one side did initiate the charge, they would either pull back or force the enemy to concede ground after some very brief fighting.
+sebastian martinsson probably med 2 because of the incredible range of mods out thee for the game such as third age and stainless steel etc., the game is also really well balanced and fun in vanilla.
I assume when warhammer comes out you'll be playing alot of it, please do multiplayer of warhammer at release with someone like indipride or better yet arch warhammer

I think that in all gunpowder era total war games it is hard to be on the offensive especially if the enemy decides to tank down in some superior terrain, this experiance pretty much ruined my tw online game experiance, that's why I always play singleplayer only
+TheAlpha38 You have to use cavalry to force the enemy into square which gives you time to move up your own line infantry. Then once you're nice and close you pull out your cav and blast the enemy while they are either still in square or reforming. A good tip also is to send in some cannon fodder (militia) to absorb the first volleys then send in your cav or just follow up with line infantry.

You should try Napoleonic Total War III, this mod have the greatest multiplayer battle you will ever experience in Napoleon total war.
