In this video, an Oklahoma homeowner uses GRA Secure Set Spray Foam to fill in voids underneath the fiberglass steps of his inground pool and strengthen the steps while preventing future erosion or damage due to erosion. The sand which once supported the steps from underneath eventually compacted and eroded away, leaving the steps unsupported and weak. Over time, cracks developed, leading to more water intrusion and erosion.
If you are encountering a similar issue with fiberglass pool steps, plastic pool steps or whatever you have, with Secure Set Spray Foam, in the space of a few hours, your steps can be restored and strengthened - and for just a fraction of the cost of replacing the steps. Also, unlike a repair involving refilling the void underneath the pool with sand, Secure Set offers a long-lasting repair that prevents further loss of sand and resulting damage.
Fo this repair, you only need some safety glasses, a 3/8 inch bit, a drill, some black electrical tape and if you want, an endoscope so you can see how large the void is. Here is the one we used: www.amazon.com... .
To buy the Secure Set Spray Foam, please call us direct at 405-672-8885 or email us at info@graservices.com with your shipping address and we will send you a quote.

Just bought the set and hope to get this knocked out this weekend. The previous owners left my stairs totally hollow, so I can't wait to fix this.
By chance, do you have any tips on fixing the drilled holes in the steps? Any particular product that you recommend most?

Great! We do not personally sell a fiberglass repair and paint product, but many of our customers/contractors say they use products made by Olympic. Thank you!

I’ve watched several of your videos and I haven’t seen one of pool steps with the jacuzzi seat. Would you do a set like that the same way as the more standard style steps?

We haven't done a jacuzzi seat project, but I have talked to customers that intended to approach the project the same way we did the pool steps. We would definitely recommend using a borescope/endoscope camera to view the void space before application of the foam, in order to understand the void space to the fullest extent. Thank you!

Is there a way to patch the holes drilled, without needing to re-fiberglass the entire step?

Yes, there are many types of fiberglass patch repair and paint kits on-line, but we do not do that type of work or sell those products. Many of our customers say they use the Olympic brand fiberglass repair kits or a product called Rebound. Thank you.

how do you cut and remove all the excess stuff.. looks like it would make a mess.

You can cut the foam with a saw, and then always paint over the cut areas to close off the cells that have now been opened. Any foam that comes up in the drilled holes can be whittled down then use a fiberglass patch/paint kit to repair the holes. We have had many of our customers say they like to use the Olympic brand fiberglass products, but we don't sell that type of product. Thank you!

I bought a kit that just arrived, my steps have wash out too. I have the pool liner on my steps. Any advice on how to go about this?

Hello Tim, Most important is to try and determine the extent of the hollow area. Hammer sounding the entire step area is important. You will easily be able to "hear" where the hollow area is. Second, it really really helps if you purchase the Depstech DS300 Endoscope. Prices range from $89.00 to about $97.00.
The scope lets you "see" into the void. No guessing at all about the void. The drill holes are 3/8" diameter. I started filling the hollow area on the edge of the steps, that put a wall of foam as a blocking fill on either side of the steps. Then fill the middle areas, starting on the lower steps and working your way up. Don't overdo it and spray too much at one time. In the video you see the spray bursts are about 3 to 5 seconds. You will be able to hear the foam travelling under the steps. I used 3/8" wood dowels to plug the holes after injecting the foam. Let everything set hard, then cut the dowels even with fiberglass and repair surface with small fiberglass repair kit. After that is complete, sand the surface smooth and prep for painting. Thank you

@@SecureSet-Fence-Installation the problem is that the vinyl of the pool covers the steps. I can't drill directly into the steps without damaging the vinyl. I'm trying to figure out a work around

@@timkaestner6891 That is interesting, we haven't encountered one like that. Could you please send us some pictures to info@graservices.com and we will see what we might be able to suggest. Also, we have many customers that follow our TH-cam channel, and many contractors that use our Secure Set products for these types of projects, maybe one of them will comment with a suggestion in the meantime. Thank you GRA Services

We do not ship the pressurized canisters (hazmat) over the borders, but can ship it to a border pack and ship location and you can have it forwarded from there. Some customers pickup at the border and don't seem to have trouble crossing the border with the spray foam kits. Thank you!

@@barbaraferreira9115this is our question as well. This is exactly what we need for our pool steps as well. Definitely going to get this for our driveway that has some bad cracking and large voids.
