The Night King's Elaborate Plan to Pass the Wall (Theory)

  • August 25, 2022 -- This video has been trimmed and re-cut to avoid being blocked. SOME of the cuts are not smooth nor properly edited due to TH-cam's terrible Editor and feature.
The theory and description below were created before Season 8. But the video has been re-edited recently. (It was originally called "The Night King is the Lord of Light.") Some may be assumptions or accurate, you decide.
In order for this theory to be plausible, The Night King must have magical abilities of "necromancy" AND "the sight." Through fire and dragonglass magic, he can see, speak, or command visions in the flames (like what happened to Varys). Both of these abilities can see glimpses of the future, while the other one can raise and bring the dead back to life.
Let's take a look at the evidence:
    1) Necromancy: All the wights, the undead polar bear, the Hardhome episode, and perhaps Beric or Jon's resurrection.
Necromancy also means "the act of communicating with the dead in order to discover what is going to happen in the future."
    2) The Sight: The Night King sees Bran and grabs him during his vision. Bran sees and talks to Jojen Reed in their visions. They both have "the sight."
    3) Flames: All the visions the characters saw are about going to the North/battle in the snow, bringing the dead to King's Landing, or fulfilling the prophecy-bringing Jon Snow and Daenerys together.
In his plan, all the decisions by the characters are their own, but he vaguely showed them visions (Melisandre, Thoros, The Hound, and Tyrion) and willingly helped dead characters back to life (Beric and Jon Snow) to influence somebody's decisions (Davos and Jon), ideas (Tyrion), and his elaborate plan going forward-setting a trap for whomever would go beyond the wall (Jorah, Jon, Tormund, The Hound, Beric, Thoros or Gendry) and capture a wight ("bring the dead to her") and then later, seek Daenerys for help.
To ensure the chain of events works, he purposely let characters go (The Night's Watch, Lord Commander Jeor Mormont, and Samwell Tarly) to spread the news so that eventually, someone (Bran, Jon Snow or Gendry) will pass on this threat ("We need to send a raven") to Daenerys, so she can finally fly beyond the wall, and that's the time the Night King (who saw a future vision) can ultimately acquire an undead dragon AND destroy the wall.
"The past is already written. The ink is dry." The Night King is the Lord of Light. And in the end, no one is going to kill the Lord of Light.

In order for this theory to be plausible, The Night King must have magical abilities of _"necromancy"_ AND _"the sight."_ Through _fire_ and _dragonglass_ magic, he can see, speak, or command visions in the flames (like what happened to Varys). Both of these abilities can see glimpses of the future, while the other one can raise and bring the dead back to life.
Let's take a look at the evidence:
    1) *Necromancy:* All the wights, the undead polar bear and the Hardhome episode (and perhaps Beric or Jon's resurrection).
Necromancy also means "the act of communicating with the dead in order to discover what is going to happen in the future."
    2) *The Sight:* The Night King sees Bran and grabs him during his vision. Bran sees and talks to Jojen Reed in their visions. They both have "the sight."
    3) *Flames:* All the _visions_ the characters saw are mostly about going to the North. _The Hound's vision_ was going to Eastwatch and some mountain beyond the wall. _Tyrion's vision_ was bringing the dead to Cersei. While _Melisandre's vision_ was fulfilling the prophecy-bringing Jon Snow and Daenerys together.
In the *Night King's plan,* all the decisions by the characters are their own, but he vaguely showed them visions (Melisandre, Thoros, The Hound, Tyrion) and willingly helped dead characters back to life (Beric and Jon Snow) to influence somebody's decisions and ideas and for his elaborate plan to go forward-setting a *trap* for whomever would go beyond the wall and capture a wight _("bring the dead to her," "I sent Alliser Thorne to King's Landing")_ so that once they're surrounded, they would seek Daenerys for help.
To ensure the chain of events works, he purposely let characters go _(The Night's Watch at Fist of the First Men)._ In the beginning, they didn't kill one of the Night's Watchman. _(It's also a direct parallel to the "Beyond the Wall" wight hunt.)_ Once the messenger was let go, a series of events happened and news spread from Ned to Benjen to Mormont to Sam to Davos to Melisandre to Bran to Jon to Tyrion and finally, to Daenerys.
Eventually, someone is going to pass on this threat to Daenerys _("We need to send a raven"),_ and when that time comes, she would finally fly beyond the wall. And that's the moment the Night King would ultimately acquire an undead dragon AND _destroy the wall._
"The past is already written. The ink is dry." The Night King is the Lord of Light. And in the end, *no one* is going to kill the Lord of Light.
Some may be inaccurate, you decide. It's just a theory of mine (created before Season 8).

No way, you are giving D&D too much credit. I think it is just bad writing that made this sequence of Event happens the way it is so they can conclude the show, there is no master plan from the night king.
In the interview, D&D clearly said GRR Martin only told them how he wants GoT to end, and they have all the freedom to fill in the event that leads up to ending. George even tried to distant himself from the Season 8 Backlash.

I think it’s funny that Melisandre in the show doubts her powers when she is at the wall, but in the books she has never been more sure in her faith because the wall “boosts/amplifies” her powers. I think she would be more than confident in her abilities to bring someone back to life.

They ruined his character and the White Walkers, indeed. We can’t let it go. They were such a major storyline of the books and series. We need a remake, a retcon of GOT’s last seasons after the books are finished. Let’s just hope that GRRM will make a proper story for the White Walkers than that trash season 8. No to the deus ex machina Arya. That annoying fanbase can go circlejerk somewhere else. This is Jon’s arc.

We are giving D&D too much credit for thinking this was a master plan that the night king had to get a dragon unless george told them about it but I don’t see George being that stupid with sending them beyond the wall to capture ONE wight and not use the dragons they already have available to help in that master plan lol it would make more sense if in the books jon thinks he can lead a small party to kill the white walkers or whatever version of the night king the book will have sorts to mirror the plan qhorin halfhand had to kill mance in book and season 2

I have a better idea. There is talk about a horn that when blown will break the magic of the Wall and bring it down. We can have some of the same plot as in season 7 with Jon and Co trying to retrieve the horn before the Night King, instead of that stupid "retrieve the wight" mission. We can have Jon and Co. successfully retrieving the horn before the Night King (with Jon and Co. having some loss since it is a dangerous mission). Then the plot twist is that the Night King actually has a backup plan if the Horn of Winter didn’t work out, i.e he wakes up one of the Ice dragons that’s under the Ice somewhere beyond the Wall. There are talks about Ice dragons in the books.
This way, maybe we wouldn’t even need Dany to bring her dragons North of the Wall. The Night King and the White Walkers still destroys the Wall, and it is not Jon and Co. fault, like it is in the show.
