Yup, 3 Rangers! 😁 Glad to see them getting the recognition, but it's because they won the WS last yr, and MLB seems to show more clips of the current (the previous yr) champs, maybe a clause in its network contract, to promote or show more of that team, in the next season, Idk. 🤷
Wow, I would never have thought there were that many just since 2010. When Langford hit his yesterday the Rangers color analyst thought they would come up with some unique stat, but turns out it happens all the time. Even 2 other Rangers have done it since 2010.
Baseball is awesome like that. They say "you see something new every time you watch a ball game," but they don't tell you that sometimes you've seen it a few times - you just forgot! 😂
as a sox fan that jarren duran misplay will forever be seared into my mind and replay whenever im at my worst, funny to know that he tapia had to deal with an even wackier one in a close game lol
Buckner before his knees gave out was a decently fast guy, definitely more mobile. It’s just that his most remembered moment has to do with his lack of knees layer on.
The only one you could make a legitimate case that should have had an error was Connor Gillaspie with the Giants. Otherwise, all of the others involve big/weird bounces off the wall or players diving and missing, which don't count as errors.
All inside-the-park HR's, & nearly all triples, require poor defensive play. Neither stat would really exist if they blamed poor effort instead of the very strict requirement of handling the ball poorly.
@@TinKnight With Triples to not be that you have to either A have an odd bounce off of a wall or b have a stadium that has some part that makes the feat a bit easier (which there is like only one of those since Tal's Hill was removed at Minute Maid.)
@@Josh-ut4wv Exactly. There are a few parks where the right launch angle, EV, baserunner speed, & outfielder positioning can make a "natural" triple possible, but overwhelmingly, you can't have triples nor inside-the-parkers without defensive screw-ups.
@@TinKnight yeah like the Giants have Triples alley which is your best chance sure if coors was bigger that would actually be the best chance but the issue is they want HRs there.
The vast majority of "inside the park homeruns" should actually be singles or doubles with subsequent errors on the fielders. Still exciting plays but there is no reality in which those should be considered home runs.
Wyatt Langford hit his first home run and it was inside the park. So they went back to see how many have done it before. They aren’t running out of content.
So fun how you can notice the announcers being more excited about these plays as time goes on
Good observation. Announcers are now much more aware of the magnitude of the moment they’re calling in real time.
Good point! Notice how they became less frequent throughout the years too
@@alexstewart9708i think it’s worth noting that these are just in-the-park hrs for first career home runs, not all since
Probably cause announcers back then we’re more boring, like Joe Buck
The first four of these happened within eight weeks of each other.
Fun fact about Tony Campana, that's his only home run in his major league career.
I played summer ball with Tony in high school. It’s still so cool to see highlights of his career. Twenty years ago seems like an eternity!
@@joelchase3326that’s awesome. He was fun to watch growing up
Apparently this is pretty normal for the Rangers
lol we have a big park.
He missed the joey gallo one too
😂 right.
Craig Gentry and Josh Smith and Wyatt Langford
Yup, 3 Rangers! 😁

Oooooor, the Rangers just had more than any other team has had. 🤷♂️
Then there's also Marc Sagmoen from the 97 team. His ITPHR was his one hit wonder and he only played for a season before quitting.
@@simplysteve68 super weird take
if anything the rangers get too few posts for being a contender
Actually insane on Gentry's HR watching two outfielders both dive and miss the ball

Altuve had to take 79 extra steps to get around compared to his taller counterparts
He is awesome, one of my favorite shorty players.
Rangers legend, Craig Gentry
95% of insiders are just blown defensive plays and yet, still so exciting.
I would call em misjudgments, otherwise they'd just be called an error, right?
@ROFLBOB24 that's the funny thing about baseball, some of the worst mistakes aren't registered as errors.
Dave Raymond is too good
Congratulations to Langford for such an incredible moment to start off his career!! Go World Series Champions Texas Rangers!!
Gentry and Gillaspie being only 4 days apart is wild
the first 4 clips were all within 2 months
That was also Tony Campana's only MLB Home Run
Niiice!
So, you're saying he's the only big leaguer with 100% in-the-park HRs?
@@OhJustSomeRandomGuyNo, Langford also has a 100% inside the park homerun rate
@@aidans9989 Well, that's an open-ended career, though.
@@OhJustSomeRandomGuyMarc Sagmoen in 1997 (still trying to find footage of this lol)

The Dansby Swanson one reminded me that Trea Turner used to play in the outfield sometimes
Didn't realize it was this common. Crazy
I'm in favor of renaming "inside-the-park homeruns" to "quadruples" so they're easier to say.
I miss Craig Gentry so much. So fast. Good defense. Even better person.
Alot against the rockies
Happy bday Ron!! Oakland legend
I Love MLB
First comment btw
Three Texas Rangers on this list. Wow.
Came here to see Josh H Smith, saw Josh H Smith, I'm happy
I remember seeing Bill Buckner, of all people, hit an inside the park HR.
Buckner before his knees gave out was a decently fast guy, definitely more mobile. It’s just that his most remembered moment has to do with his lack of knees layer on.
Ah man! And I was debating on going to either that April 28th game or the 27th the day before and we chose the 27th. Damn. 😂
crazy that Campana's homer was the only homer of his career
The Last 2 were Rangers💪💯
Altuve in the brick red Astros uniforms looks so out of place. I can’t believe he’s been around since 2011.
Learn the Astros
It’s nuts how many of them were in 2011
Texas Rangers have the best announcers❤️
Even as a HUGE Astros fan, I love his energy and enthusiasm
That Harper throw on Swanson's homer tho...
I did not realize Jose Altuve has been in the majors since 2011 😂
The ol’ “thank God for lazy outfielders” play!
If I hear one more announcer say “dived,” I might lose it.
According to Merriam-Webster, both 'dived' and 'dove' are acceptable.
So many first homers in the park
Altuve ignoring the 3rd base coach even to this day 😊 (I had no idea that was his 1st HR)
Craig Gentry representing!
🐗WPS!!
Man I remember Gillaspie, he was supposed to be a big deal. Bust! gues its worth noting that its hard to hit at Att
What were they eating in 2011???
Wow I didn’t realize the Rangers had so many first time home runs that were inside the park homers
I was at the Aoki game
Tony Campana would be on a playoff team every year if he played 10 years later lol
Guy was Terrence Gore before Terrence Gore.
3 Rangers!

Hey MLB Social Media Guy,
No sweat, but this video isn't in your "Amazing Compilations" playlist and therefore will get less views over time
How many of these would have been called errors had they not been potential first inside the parkers for these players

Was that polar bear in left firld in the first one, didnt know he played left
Yonder Alonso actually so yeah a first baseman
The defense on some of these is just horrendous
I forgot james mccann hit one for the tigers
Of course Josh H(im) Smith's first was also an inside the parker. Dude is the incarnation of a bullet bill
Weird how a lot are their first homerun
does anyone know the answer to the question at the end abt the number of players that have done this?
I wanna see Tony Campana in mlb the show 24
10:35
How can a man still be so attractive sliding into home like Josh Smith is? It's not fair to the rest of us!
One of the most exciting things in baseball... Unless it happens to you lol
So the Rangers are the only team to have more that one player that has done this and now they have 3!
Keep in mind, that's just since 2010. Elsewhere, someone indicated there have been 887 first HR's that were inside-the-parks.
4 replays of Gentry's?
I used to love Tony Campana on the Cubs as a kid. Don't even know why lol
Joey gallo hit one in 2017
Wow the first 4 all in 2011 and within 2 months thats insane
so many in 2011
Bring back polo grounds
Just slightly less exciting than seeing someone hit a 450 foot real home run
NORI AOKI!
The SF outfielders were positioned as if Altuve had zero power.
I loved Cody Ross but lets be honest, dude never should have been playing cf.
rare, but as rare as the unassisted triple play? 🤔
idk🤷♂
The answer is no

That Craig gentry one was one of the dumbest outfield plays I’ve ever seen. How did they both dive for it and not collide?
And then neither one catch it
rockies are on the bad end of multiples of these lol
