Am I the only Chevy truck owner that watches this channel? I have owned 14 Fords (still own 2). When I was looking to order a truck, the dealer would not give me what I wanted. I couldn’t find a used ford truck either. Chevy gave me everything. I compare mine with the trucks you show. Had to laugh when you showed the compass. I put one on my windshield, and coming towards NYC in the rain at night, I was sure I was going the correct way, according to the compass. When daylight came I ended up in Connecticut! With the radio on,(magnet in the speaker) the compass was 180 degrees off! The tape that held the compass on the window is still there. On one of your other videos, someone commented on my response, saying 16.5 tires are not available anymore, and that I can only get 17” rims. My original hub caps won’t fit on 17” rims! Any idea who might sell 9.50x16.5 or 12.00x16.5 tires?
The "Low Fuel Economy" instrument cluster light setup is 75 only. You also didn't mention the factory glide out step which is more rare than some of the options you mentioned and the spot lights were also pretty uncommon. The locking hood latch is part of the security group, 78 and 9. And also includes a locking glove box. The fog lights were a pretty common dealer installed ad on as were many of these options. You also didn't mention the underhood generator, but I've forgotten what year that was discontinued. (Might be Bumpside). The Manual Transmission Tilt column is 79 only and rare and I have one of those. Cruise Control came out in 75 as well and it would be one of the rarest options as well.
Great info, my dad ordered a 78 bronco when I was 8 years old with the sport steering wheel, it was more of a brushed aluminum finish than chrome from what I can remember and I think a dealer installed option, it was in the family for several years but long gone now, I sure miss those days with my dad and family fun. Thanks for sparking some good memories though 🙂👍
A buddy of mine had a loaded 1979 Bronco. He worked at the local Lincoln/Mercury dealer in their parts department and he bought it from the area service rep who had it as a company car. It literally had every conceivable option available for that model year. This was back in 1980.
Great and informative video. When I got my truck in 1976 my salesman didn't bother to tell me about the options I could get just what I couldn't get like the 460. I argued with him for some time that I should be allowed to order the 460 as my Dad worked there so I should get a special Ford employee deal. I got the standard 360😂.
Just been binge watching your videos lately and most excellent material I must say ! Another option I have on my 79 f150 I don’t see often is factory intermittent wipers that may be worth mentioning Cheers!
Cool stuff, I finally got my tilt steering rebuilt myself fortunately the top really a pain in the arse bearing’s we’re still in great shape. Obviously upgraded the lower one. Had to have it! In Alaska -19
How about the side mounted spare tire? You have a section of the bed body that comes off and inside the bed side walls, you have your spare tire. It mounts to the frame and holds the spare tire between the inner and outer bedside. I snagged one about 25 years ago. It's like the old built in side tool box that goes at the bottom of the bed, except it goes all the way up to the dent and is big enough for a spare tire.
My '79 F 150 'Custom' 4x4 has about zero options, although I managed to find the sport steering wheel. I run straight pipes with the factory 4 speed, which makes for a very fun drive. I am second owner, since '96. Everyone loves my truck.
The Dana 60, High Pinion, King Pin, Reverse Rotation... That axle is still at the top of the food chain. I was Standard on the 1979 F-350 Regular Cab and Super Cab
I added all of these options to my green truck, the only option that truck has was the Dana 60 front as it was a plow truck. My f350 in this video has almost all of those options though from the factory
I almost bought a '79 F-150 that had the side box on the on the bottom of the passenger side of the truckbox. still kick myself all these years later for passing on that.
I do not know if it was an option from the dealer or just a neat thing you could buy from Ford.... I have a FoMoCo air horn kit new in the box. It uses vacuum from the motor to somehow run a little air compressor that you can actuate via a solenoid to a set of air horns like a semi truck would have. I have the whole kit with instructions dated 1976 I will need to rebuild the vacuum and compressor parts though because they have never been used and are stiff
You could get the bed rails on most models. Almost every option (excluding trim packages) was under 300 bucks except for AC, dana 60, cruise control, and CB radio.
@@DentsideDepot they have a repop of everything now? I've never seen those special interior trim plastic pieces for the rear window defroster in any npd catalog? That's the stuff we print. Hmmm 40 year old new old stock brittle trim clips, enough to do one side or freshly sls printed from modern durable thermoplastic resins.
They never offered tilt wheel w a 4speed. Ive seen one 78' f250 with power antenna! Drivers side cowl...i own 26, 73' thru 79 trucks. Various models, condition etc.
@@DentsideDepot I ordered a 79 F100 short bed with a 4 speed OD and the tilt wheel . Also ordered the security lock package that had the hood lock and spare tire lock that used the ignition key. Ordered a limited slip rear and larger alternator. Installed an aftermarket power antenna,

Maybe u should make a video
@billydean5817 I do want to do stuff like this I just don't have the time right now.
It's a great day when I see a new Dentside Depot video pop up! Great content!
Thank you Sir!
I bought a parts truck once that had the Ford cb radio in it. I thought it was pretty cool. I still have it and the antenna put away in a box.

Yea literally the worst decision by Ford on these trucks, really makes no sense why the 460 was never offered with 4wd. Thanks as always!
Maybe that salesman was a freshman and by the time he didnt know all the information to provide.

I have a 1974 f100 with the built in toolbox on the passenger side
@@BillyLintzenich-wf7sk That's one feature that I miss on my 73. My 68 had it, but not the 73. It should have been standard because it's so handy.
Very interesting. The CB option was quite expensive. The options in 79 for Ford trucks were way more than the 60’s hot rods.
I think its one of the coolest options for sure.
What a fun video. Thanks. I think the compass was my favorite out of all of them. I need to try to find one

Cool. My 78 F250 is pretty plain with hardly any factory options. My 78 F150, though has the sport steering wheel, and the lighted vanity mirror.
I have a 1978 f250 camper special
My 78 Bronco has the sport steering wheel.
Sweet! They seem to be more common on broncos then trucks

I didn't know how rare the sun visor and tilt were. I had those and a few other options in a super cab i bought to use on my farm 😳
Awesome video

🤓 I'm working on a '77 150 Supercab that had a CB in it, but only the coax cable is left, and a hole in the roof.
Not sure why anyone would get a cactus smasher. Did Luverne make a grill guard for these?

What about radio delete, was that a factory option or was it just fleet vehicles that got the radio delete?
Radio delete was actually standard, any radio was an option. My blue f100 on my channel has no radio from factory.
@@DentsideDepot does it have the instrument panel bezel that covers the radio holes?
Yes, that is the correct trim for a truck without a radio. Here is the link for that truck.

What is a dentside???
Dentside is the nickname for the 73' through 79' Ford trucks because of the divot in the body.
And the 1969 to 1972 trucks are called bumpsides. Hit up google for pics and you'll see.
Informative but ! Would be allot better if the most of these trucks were junk.
Are you wearimg a skirt ...its OK BUT MMMM😅
