- I'm seeing a revised, post-2020 strategy out of J.D. Greear and Bryan Loritts at The Summit Church...
Step 1: Stuff your messages full of assurances that you're against CRT and diversity quotas (black-and-white footage)
Step 2: Change nothing about policies that are, in practice, indistinguishable from DEI (color footage)
They have a "25 by 25 vision," that the church's demographic makeup will be "25 percent ethnically diverse" by 2025. The idea being that if your church does not closely mirror the demographic statistics of the area where it serves, it is not being faithful to the gospel.
This is a subtle point, but we need to understand the difference between outcome and efforts when it comes to faithfulness. If you are withholding evangelism from ethnic groups in your area, that is sinful. But representing less than a given percentage of a people group is not. If your neighborhood is 10% Somali refugees and your church is not 10% Somali refugees, even if you are evangelizing Somali refugees as much and as deftly as you are huwyte Americans, the Summit model would say you're falling short, ignoring all other factors that might be in play.

Yes 💯 agree. Because of you & Jon Harris… I put 2 & 2 together as to what was happening in my own church! After convos with several pastors, we left. I think they were going down the woke road but turned around some but not completely…but they never revealed they were wrong. I thought pastors were to be honest & even say they were wrong BUT nope…most are too prideful
I just skipped a district meeting on racial equality and the need to hire people of other races in our churches. Pastors won't go along with it, so the denominational leaders will force it. Then the pastors will leave, they'll be replaced by women and minority pastors. The church will die. It's really not complicated. Churches will be neighbors and families and not corporations.

Confusion. Say it’s not a quota but it is a quota. Retracting on the ethnic diversity initiative that they put forward to talk about ethnic idolatry which they fed. What’s wrong if how one person thinks is what Christ has commanded? Isn’t that unity in Christ? So, what is their goal again?

What the heck has ethnic diversity has to do with qualifications to serve in God’s house? What does ethnicity has anything to do with one’s spirituality and whether that person knows God? How about a 25 in 25 plan that says we want 25% of our congregation to be true born again Christians that completely dedicate their lives to God in 2025?
What they are offering is not the gospel. The gospel has already solved this problem. Jew and Gentile ARE ONE in CHRIST JESUS. The NEW man. Our identity is in Christ alone.

Nothing more annoying and cringe than watching preachers and speakers in church with dramatic expressions and high pitched voices like they are acting through a theatrical experience where the audience is sitting on the sidelines wondering "what the hell is happening".
These preachers are making a mockery of God and His gospel, while the people in the congregation are no doubt spiritually starving. So sad.

My local church is incredibly diverse and they never ever talk about skin color. They simply preach the gospel to the best of their ability.

American was colonized by the British and Europeans. We have been a predominantly white European nation for hundreds of years, and so also is our culture. Other cultures and ethnicities are welcome but should always be expected to fit within the predominant culture. This is the way it is in every other country.
Yes it is! Your 2025 ethnicity goal is the same as corporate DEI earmarks. Do you want to know why it is the same? It is because both are goverment induced social strategy as the government seeks to merge the American continent, she is prepping her institutions to do the absorbing and blending to maintain empire cohesion.

Pastors need to be careful how they interpret scripture. This day, this church did not preach the gospel, they preached another gospel.
This was tiring to watch.
Diversity, is not just color of skin, or even political ideology. My church is very multi-cultural, however, there are so many differences between people there that "look like me". We are all unique human beings that God created and to deny that and to put people in boxes that are boiled down to a "percentage" is just plain narrowminded.
I wonder how long it'll take them to start using the words, "worshipping the Bible" as they grow further away from scripture and want to be the authority of right and wrong.

Excellent video! Do I sense a Hegelian dialectic here? Greer is pitting "color blindness" (where we all view each other as the same) against "color idolatry", ("where our ethnicity becomes the most defining thing about us.") So, what middle position are they trying to push us towards?

I actually saw no problem with this excerpt. I wouldn’t call it “woke”. I agreed with both of the pastors shown. I see no problem with trying to achieve diversity as long as it’s organic. As Jesus, says, “If I be lifted up,I will draw all men unto me.”

I'm sorry, FORTY-SIX people is ONLY 20% of their staff?! I know they're a mega-church with multiple sites, but that really does not feel right. That's too big. That's insane. Why do you need THAT MUCH bureaucracy? 200+ people? What does their budget look like? How do you justify that? How do you manage to hold people accountable? I know this isn't the point of the video at all, but I cannot get past it. If you need more than TWO HUNDRED PEOPLE to run your church (EXCLUDING volunteers!), then you've gone wrong somewhere.

Completely discounting the work of the Holy Spirit and who the Spirit might lead to Christ through their church. They've instead adopted a completely "man made" and "man thought" image of those He might save. God will utlimately determine who is saved at Summit - not man.
