Ilona Maher has become a TikTok sensation since posting about her experience playing Rugby Sevens in the Tokyo Olympics, in 2021. She has amassed a Social Media following that dwarfs any other rugby player on the planet, both male and female. Following in her Father's footsteps and playing rugby, Ilona found a sport that she was born to play. Not one to give up, after the defeat of finishing 6th in the Tokyo Olympics, Ilona and her team made history, and brought home the Bronze from Paris Olympics 2024. Due to her popularity, she found herself on premier tv show, DWTS. Recently joining the Bristol Bears she continues to dominate the headlines!

America used to be a rugby super power and at one time embraced rugby more than American rules football.
The decline of rugby in America happened after it won the 1924 Olympic gold medal match against France. A riot broke out by the French against the American players and spectators. This was a traumatizing event for the Americans and they didn't appreciate being attacked so out of protest Americans dropped rugby for decades.
