Really cracked up at the little saga from 39:29 thru 40:15, wherein Odd counts his "titanium" needs incorrectly twice in a row but arrives at the correct answer the second time anyway. First he missed a couple of 4's and ended the count at 8. Second time through he misses a 2 but counts another 2 as a 4 at the very end, arriving at 16. It's a nice little Easter egg, totally planned, right? lol

I just started the video so im not sure if you figure this all out by the end but. there are 9 resources in the game the basic ore used for everything. the silver shards found in the "Home" section the emeralds found in the grass caves. from here there are 3 resources up the wall and 3 resources down the wall.
down 1 cloud layer is coral biome with the black orbs.
down 2 cloud layers is the volcanic region with the cyan orbs with a yellow middle.
down three cloud layers is the red tentacle looking bits.
Up one cloud layer is the Bizmuth area with the cool multicolored patterns and the blue ore chunks.
up 2 cloud layers is the ice caverns with the amethist gems.
up three cloud layers is the digital caves with the blue square ore.

Very unlucky that you didn't find any blueprints in this run. Upgrading the rocket should help (8 times more damage now), but the stake thrower is probably the worst weapon for dealing with the waves in the boss fight. You can use the stake thrower against the big guys by aiming at their purple spots. It is pretty good for dealing with them, especially if you have some of the upgrades.

  • @131Clem
    @131Clem ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah this game grew on me. It's also fun to watch!
I'm also the kind of player who wants to hit every block, but there's something to be said for learning to strip mine to search for upgrades and maybe coming back later with better drill to mine out the walls.
That block you noticed at 43:45 ? I haven't seen that before.
Maybe try to explore a bit up before going down. to maximize the chances of finding the basic weapons upgrades. The basic ones are usually around the start., so just going to the first cloud layer before heading back down can be worth it. Experiment with those weapons, see which ones you like!

For me, this games stands as it's own thing perfectly. Sure, there are similarirties with Dome Keeper. but I feel like we Mario and Sonic both run around, collect golden things and jump a lot without having their "individual" identities mixed. Some things that make a clear difference are the combat style, the worldbuilding and lore teasers and the strategies for gathering resources. Those being some big differences that I feel stand out, but there are lots of smaller ones too!

Tough run with so few "drops"! However, you're still making choices here by which mines you go to and which you don't :)
I feel in this one the only thing you could really have done better is mine the starting mines for the drops and move up after you went down.
One other thing might be mining patterns. I know it's tempting to mine out every block but it might be better to be more selective. You can always come back later and clear the whole mine when you've upgraded your mining tool(s).
    Always easy commenting of course!
    Thanks for the uploads!

Great series. Game seems really cool, it seems like it's built upon the foundation that Dome Keeper laid but made it more elaborate and interesting and varied. At the risk of being controversial, I think WW is probably a better game... I WOULD say "Dome Keeper walked so Wall World could run", but a more apt saying would be "Dome Keeper stayed put so that Wall World could walk." lol

  • @Tigermoto
    @Tigermoto ปีที่แล้ว

I've kept my mouth shut so far but since you asked for our opinions here it is.
When i first saw this game i genuinely said "So they flipped Dome Keeper 90 degrees is that it?"
However, i sat and watched, and sat and watched, and though it definitely has homages to Dome Keeper, Wall World does have a lot going for it.
I can't help thinking that it still could do with some more idea grabs, like the enemy meter, but it really does appear to stand alone as it's own thing.
However, watching today, i found myself thinking a little deeper, and had i seen this without seeing Dome Keeper first, i'd have been amazed, and then if i'd seen Dome Keeper second, i can't help thinking i'd be a bit underwhelmed. After seeing this play out the way it does, i'd have thought Dome Keeper unfinished.

The pattern for where the resources are is Northern resources and Southern resources in relation to where you Start.
In terms of where they are listed on the "in stock" box. They are each on one side, accept for the last tier of resources, they are flipped.

That spike shooter simply can't take out the flyers, but it's AMAZING for killing the enemies on the wall. The grenade lobber seems to be the way to go for flyers and it seems the machine gun is really all that can be used for the pustules. Maybe upgrading the missile a few times would help? I dunno.

I mostly would like to point out that you can mine how you want but it seems more logical to not vacuum minerals at the front unless you’re going for specific minerals first since it’s easy to get it to the spider miner when its closer to the machine itself

So as to wher ethe minerals are. The purples are 1 cloud tier north. The Ice is two cloud tiers north. The greens are spread out across the map but mostly south. The titaniums are 1 cloud tier south. The white balls with the red center are 2 cloud tiers south. I find if i hit the start mine, progress two mines north but stay under the first cloud tier. Then hit mines to the south for greens and untill you have enough titaniums for the drilling upgrade you need, then move north for purples and Ice. if you make it to needing the white balls with the red center for the next drilling upgrade then move south for them. Though ive found its more efficient to go after the first defocus drill before going for the final efficiency upgrade.
so start mine. then both mines above that but under the first cloud tier. Then south past the first cloud layer. just hitem all till its time for purples, then move north through the first cloud tier for those. go untill you need titaniums, then move south through utill you get enough. when you need ice, move north through the second cloud tier. go untill you need White cirlce red dots. then move south through the second cloud tier. After that its just moving around to find what you need. using the hook (3 button) every time it pos to move south past the mines youve already cleared and using the jump thrusters (2 button) to quickly move upwards past your cleared mines is more than useful. its necessary. hope that helps.

I also felt this was too similar to Dome Keeper, but now seeing how many resources there are, the different weapons, the bosses, you can tell the game is much more fleshed out. The problem with Dome keeper is, it's very simplistic. Once you've done it a few times, you're just testing new weapons out. Each world, each wave is identical and that gets boring after the learning phase.

Even though it is simpler (at this point, at least), I like this game more than Dome Keeper. Not exactly sure why, but it just has that something that grabs me. I really hope that the devs do more with it and tweak it so that it has more of an intentional feel to its mechanics. What I mean by that is the progression loop kinda breaks down at a point and just kinda snowballs. It just needs a touch more deliberate pacing (and balancing, of course. The weapons need to be tuned).
And more story! So many bits of lore and world building that don't go anywhere.

When looking at you'r gameplay, there is almost no reason getting the second extention for the mining drill range. Yoyu are 99% of the time right up aginst the blocks you are mining, and that is a lot of resources used for the 1% of the time you are not.

What I think is this is called a Genre. It is a Genre in its infancy. Those who ejaculate the word clone on everything in a new genre are as empty of head as they are full of feces.
The similarities begin and end largely on an aesthetic level, beyond their shared core concept, which can be said of any two games in the same genre. The setting is different, the mechanics are different, they are clearly different games.
If this is a clone of Dome Keeper, then Dome Keeper is a clone of the old atari and arcade games it is inspired by. I hope to see this genre grow, just as the "Survivors-like" genre has of recent.
Mine-Defence games have a great deal of potential.

i still think dome keeper is better, at least better to watch. More suitable climate for me as well as music and sounds. Battles in DK looks also engaging, although less complex than in wall world. Also i still find wall world sounds and graphics annoying. And i dont like time pressure here, the waves all in themselfes should be enough to keep pressure

What is the point of drill range? Your face is always mashed into the block you’re drilling anyways.

If you don't mine out every single block in a cave, you get more time to explore other caves.

Yeah, that was Wanderbots. I used to watch him until his let's plays turned into 40 minute videos with 30 minutes of the game paused so he could rant about politics, animal rights, games being too hard because he skipped game play tutorials so he has no idea what he's doing, complaint devs don't explain game mechanics well enough even though he skips tutorials, complaining about people backseating him because he didn't read the tutorials, and finally complaining all anime games are terrible and should not exist because even the slightest hint of a woman with curves and sex appeal offends his sensibilities.
He's kind of a pretentious d-bag to the point his girlfriend Chel has to reign him in and tell him to shut up like the time he advocated hurting people that eat animals because he's vegan.

I have to admit the first time I saw this game I was almost disgusted. It seemed such a blatant and lazy copypasta effort, and the fact that's it's vertical instead of horizontal an equally blatant and lazy attempt to disguise that. Changed my mind though. It has a lot going on that seperates it from Dome Keeper, and it almost seems like the better game to me now.
