Just saw your video. I’m looking at the same boat, 2023 same motor. Due to my location I have to run shallow to access the ICW here in Placida. What is the real depth you can comfortably run in? And how shallow can you get up on plane? Thanks Captain. Mark
Nice boat, I thought I wanted a Maco until I found an 18ft Hewes Bonefisher with a 140 Suzuki, poling platform, Power Pole, 82 thrust Moto-Guide, Garmin GPS-Fishfinder, Live well, Aluminum trailer etc. Had it a year and have done a lot of fishing both fresh and salt around the Tampa Bay area...No problems, runs great takes rough water well and can go in incredible shallow water. The motor is so quiet you can carry on a normal conversation at full throttle , and can hardly hear it running at idle. By the way unbelievable great fuel burn. Best part it only cost me $15,000. 99 boat 2003 motor. Looks New.
They are nice. I wish Hewes would have worked better with me from a professional standpoint using their boats. I am now looking at getting the Egret Moccasin 210 from Egret Boats in North Carolina.
Nice set-up, Captain Cavanough. I've profited from your videos over the past couple of years: thank you. I need to come fish with you over there one day (I'm in Palm Harbor). My first boat is a 97' 151 Pro Guide I had refurbished. It's a bit small and the hull is a bit noisy; but I otherwise like it. My kids will get it in the next couple of years. Meanwhile I'm looking at the Redfisher, Hells Bay, Maverick with an open mind to anything else that may capture my attention. I just spent a day on CA Richardson's Marquesa. I like the idea of buying boats off captains who obviously take good care of their stuff. So who knows . . .
I think it is the 54 inch shaft. I put the trolling batteries up front for weight distribution and left the starting battery in the center. I also just recently rewired the entire boat using "BlueSea" switches/panels. I was really disappointing with how Hewes wired this boat. The switch panel from them had been replaced 4 times already. Unacceptable in my mind. I am shocked they do not use BlueSea panels.
Awesome Boat, I'm looking to get something a little bigger, I have a Key West 1520 with a 50 HP 2 stroke, would like to get something a little faster, how much was the boat if you don't mind me asking. Thanks Matt.
They range from 45k to 55k depending upon the options. If you are thinking of getting one, call or email me first. there is a dealership around here I would recommend and ONE I WOULD NOT.
Just picked up a 2013 redfisher 18. Same motor same setup. love the boat can take my two kids and wife out. Plenty of space and fits in my garage

I would say to be safe at least 18 inches
Nice rig, love the Hewes!
Do you think the 16 is worth getting or is the 18 a much better boat?
No get the 18 or bigger unless you are going extreme shallow. I now have a Pathfinder.
How’s the boat after 8 years lol
Sold it 3 years ago and now have a bay boat. A Pathfinder.

@@captaindrewcavanaugh Did it not work well for charters
Hell ya! I have a moccasin. Did you ever get it?
Love love love Hewes boats! Your lucky that boat is light because our Yellowfin 24" has broken our power pole's knuckles 5 times in less than a year.
+GetHookedFishing96 Thanks!

Great choice in boat Capt Drew. What length is the shaft on the trolling motor? Where did you place the batteries?
