Another wine brought from Lay and Wheeler, but this really didn't seem right - completely lacked elegance and the mouthfeel was sort of abrasive! Maybe a faulty bottle?
My experience of it was very different to yours, so I would suggest a bad bottle. Not as much tannin yes but mine was almost opposite of the rest. Not 'brown' colour in there. mine was quite fruity. I had mine about eight months ago
I am assuming it wasn't a problem with the closure? Normally, that means the wine is toe curlingly undrinkable, but you did mention the wine was drinkable, but a bit lacking. My main tipples are New Zealand Pinot Noirs and they always have a screw top. Even the high end wines are screw top. No doubt the French vineyards would frown upon this and they would resist changing to a closure that is far more reliable, but still allows some oxygen in to assist with ageing.
Sounds faulty to me too. All your descriptors point in that direction. Thanks for your sacrifice. 😂

Sounds like your going to have to do a lot of cooking which requires deglazing.
A trip to the cellar is always good!!
All the best!!
Had this wine corked?, all the wine's you introduce us to,would they benefit from allowing to breathe or even decanting?
