What is the Future of Xbox Hardware

- During the most recent Xbox showcase, they announced 3 new SKUs of the Xbox Series X|S consoles. While we didn't get an announcement of a new handheld like many were hoping there may still be a possibility in the future. With some Xbox titles going to other platforms recently, what is the future of the console? Let's talk about it.

I think Xbox is going to try and get the next generation system out 1 year ahead of the PS6. Which is why we're getting these 3 consoles now.
I wouldn’t be surprised. With Sony doing a PS5 pro, this may be the perfect time

I pay for halo one got that in Hawaii Honolulu for $1100 then pay 650.00 for Galaxy limited edition

Microsoft had said before that one of their goals is to have Xbox hardware built into televisions.
We are kinda there with the Samsung TVs and cloud streaming
They should be going with monitor over t.v.
I do not own a TV or cable or satellite, I only have my Xbox and monitor.
Game at home and yt on the go.

I think it would be cool to still make hardware for people who want hardware, maybe make less units and introduce an xbox handheld alongside a console. I know I'm a hardware guy I don't like the idea of relying on a good connection to enjoy games how I want to enjoy them

JH ..you are correct that the current gen has about 4 years left and that MS want Xbox to become a cloud streaming service to every device, but what makes you so sure that it will happen after the next gen Xbox. The whole reason why MS want this to happen is because Xbox have failed to capture the console market. Making new console hardware is expensive and if they are only going to sell to a small Xbox userbase, it just isn't worth it. MS wants Xbox to drop out of hardware manufacture and focus on becoming a 3rd party publisher. Games will be streamed to a Game Pass app or ported to platforms that won't accept Game Pass.
4 games were ported across as a test. Not to test whether they could make ports. To test if PlayStation gamers would buy them. PlayStation has set a high bar for game quality so Xbox need to send their best and remaster any old games that are showing their age. The next gen Xbox will be a portable handheld and a box with a controller, both containing an ARM mobile phone SOC streaming games via a Game Pass app with games rendered on advanced Azure servers. That is the next gen power Phil Spencer is talking about. Azure servers. Not a console.

I agree, but I think they’ll always offer an Xbox made by Microsoft. They’ll probably open up the “xbox” platform up to third party hardware manufacturers, just like the PC market. I could see Samsung making a console to play Xbox games. You’re already seeing it with the handheld PC market with the access to Steam and Gamepass. Once that happens, there will be more options to access Xbox games and they’ll scale back “Microsoft Xbox” manufacturing to match smaller demand. They’ll make more money, too, because they’ll still sell Gamepass subscriptions and won’t have to make as many consoles.
I wouldn’t mind that. I am going to miss the “exclusive” but I think it moves the industry forward.

I’m good brother I got what I needed from Microsoft this at not but another Opportunity for bots to get there hands on it and resale it & you think 2020 was bad thrust & believe when these three versions of the Xbox come out it will be a major headache no thank you

Xbox is just subscription service
The new xbox coming out is the last xbox that will ever be released from Microsoft because they're are switching over to full cloud gaming. This way all they have to do is have on site infrastructure, hardware and servers people can just stream from and play at 120 consistent fps. I don't like this at all and I don't like live service games because I love game preservation and games that are finished and not incredibly broken, buggy and unplayable and having a live service game and only paying to have access to a game means Microsoft can just disable everyone's access to the game whenever they want and or completely delete the game off the servers and you're out of whatever amount of money you paid for it and you get no refund because Microsoft's greed. I want physical media that installs to an ssd and players have unlimited access to play that game forever and Microsoft should not have any ability to disable access to said game because you paid for the game therefor you own a version of it and you have every right to play it at any point in your life. 20 to 30 years from now players should have full access to pull out their old xbox and play the games they brought back then and not have to literally break the law just to play old games they once enjoyed obviously offline only depending on if servers are still even active which they most likely wont be, just my hot take.
I don’t disagree. I do think that the next console is the last. They will have handhelds and pcs for physical installs after. It will be a while before the hardcore fully adopts cloud. Still latency issues and US infrastructure isn’t there yet. I think Xbox has about 10-12 years of console life left.
When is it coming confused by the dates first they said 2028 cloud hybrid then 2026 console PC hybrid Steam will they blend it all in
I just gave up my Xbox Series X, back to the pc. Some of these games a just way to big to run properly on a console anymore. Starfield is close to 200gb in size and I have a friend that had major issues with it on the Xbox with a ton of crashes and glitches. I told him to install it on his gamer pc and it's running like a champ. He didn't even have to replay it again to level back up or pay for it. Since he has it for the Xbox he got it for free and it synced to where he had to leave off on the Xbox. I'm definitely going back to gaming on PC by the end of this year on a real gaming pc.
I have a pc as well. I just like playing on console. My cousin is going back to PC as well since all of the Xbox games will be there

I take my Xbox and monitor everywhere.

I am an optimist. After working there I saw that it’s still a business overall.

xbox is the best way to play game pass on a tv today
but when cloud get more popular xbox will be a thing of the past
