near the end of the book in the blues section he lists 25 different turnaround progressions in roman numeral format. this book is so chock full of info, I've owned it for 3 years and I'm still getting new insights from it. So many altered dominant voicings. And the chapter on substitution
This is indeed a "ridiculous array of major chords." BUT... I did dust off my copy of Chord Catastrophe and get through those four shapes with your help. That I NEVER would have attempted otherwise. Thank you Sir!
I think the only logic I see between the book title and this array of chords is to compare it to the periodic table of chemical elements. Individually, they're nothing. Combined, they're the universe. Greetings from Argentina!!!
Ted didn't regret writing CC, but he later realized that he could have organized it better. He often jokingly referred to it as "Chord Catastrophe."

When I first heard (then played) Teds split triad of Dmin up around the 12th fret (skinny strings) it almost brought tears to my eyes.
