Great lesson. Thank you very kindly for that rabbit hole.

Quick question, in the Gm6 you keep the E. If it is minor, should'nt be E flat?
@@ignaciojauregui7423 not quite. That would be a Gm b6
@JakobPek ohh I see, thank you so much
Of course. Leave out the fifth. Unless it's part of a chord voicing, it is absolutely unnecessary. It only tends to thicken the chord in an unnecessary manner. If you're on the piano, all bets are off.
Sometimes, I like to make funny riddles about it. DGCFAD is the tenth fret. Learn it!!!!!!!! It is absolutely necessary. Dm#4
Of course, also even more important, EADGBE, and can you guess ADGCEA and BEADF# and B on the seventh fret. GCFBbDG is on the 3rd fret. At bar, any fret is a Pentatonic scale. Open is Em, but it is also GMajor Pentatonic.
Every diatonic scale contains three Pentatonic scales. Concentrate on the diatonic Pentatonic out of the seventh mode. In CMajor Locrian is F# outside scale. Bm Pentatonic:) Db Major contains no open strings. Bach figured this out a long time ago. In standard tuning, you have an absolute wealth of information towards being able to locate center key in any genre of music. Really, really think about it.
@@damonshanabarger2604 ?? I think you mean to say sharp nine? I prefer flat 10.

I just discovered your TH-cam channel and subscribed. I’m a Ted Greene lover. I have all of his books and his one album. You sound great too!
How do you recommend using this stuff or practicing for truly learning the skill rather than just going through the page? I will visit this book for a few weeks, really play through most of this page slowly and in all keys, but then I never really end up applying it

Great books! Vic Juris (I believe) has a Bill Evans for guitar MI press I believe.
Awsome content & it all makes sense & your playing is AMAZING!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the comment Ricky 🎶🎸🎶
Great stuff Jakob. One of my favorite uses of m6 chords is on iv in a major key leading back to the I, ie: I I7 IV iv6 I
Sam! Good to hear from you. And yes! m6 as a iv6 is one of THE sounds.
This channel is very funderrated
fank fou fery fuch…
Any idea good theory books you could recommend that are detailed like your explanations?
This is tough... off the top of my head... Books by Ted Greene, Harmonic Experience by WA Mathieu, The Fundamentals of Guitar by Miles Okazaki, and study/analyze Bach.

It's very interesting that you've the Goddess of Music's picture on the keyboard - Saraswati. How did you come across finding her? I know it's nothing to do with the topic at hand, but that just caught my eyes, and is now making me curious.
Now I have the tools to expleriment with a a better sharmonic funderstanding
@@jameslifetimelearner that you do!
I'm not sure it helps to say G6 is Eminor 7 . Your root is G .. the listener doesn't hear E , they hear the G root . They are rooted in G . How does it help to look at it as a G. Isn't it more productive to simply say the G 6 can be played in its inversions 1,3,5,6 or 3,5,6,1 etc
@@das250250 both, more, and then some. Sixth chords have a case of multiple personality disorder. I found that to become acquainted with each one of these personalities is quite helpful.
You are overthinking it. It is absolutely essential that you understand a 6th chord is an inverted minor seventh chord. Why do you want to make things harder? The bass player is playing the root, just play an E minor 7 voicing. Done!
beautiful ideas and beautiful sound
Thank you!
