    I used to do a lot of backpacking, and fishing for trout in the Sierras. we would carry a load of tin foil and butter to cook the fish in, but the added thing we enjoyed, there were wild green onions growing along all the rivers, which we would put inside the fish while cooking it! SOOO GOOOD!

  • @tammydiesen9031
    @tammydiesen9031 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    on the cheap version, you should leave the head on and stick the stick through the tail and all the way to the head or head to tail and cook over the flame that way.

    Thick wood for a longer, even burning fire. Small sticks burn up too quickly. You can put rocks or stones to help hold heat. Also, build your fire in a hole, it will direct the heat up. Open ground fires disperse outward as well as upward. Great video as always. Looking forward to the next. Boop!

    The cheap side, you could have used some aluminum foil and sliced lemon on the open fire, as a foil pack. The fish would have steamed perfectly. I would have to give the expensive side about a 9 for the appearance after cooking!

  • @kenseymour6771
    @kenseymour6771 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    For the cheap side wrap in tinfoil with butter put in the hot coals. Best ever.

      Absolutely! I make little rectangular boats as we call them out of heavy duty foil using a couple of layers to be sturdy. Clean, add butter and a squeeze of lemon and put in the fire or on a grilling rack. Works great and cooks quickly. Used this in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado for our Rainbow Trout! Yumm!!!

    I clean the blood line out with a spoon. I've never known anyone to fry trout. I'd get some good coals going , trout wrapped in foil , and plop it on the coals. Lemon, butter, Tony's, and garlic. We use rooster tails,spoons, and powerboat with mill worms. Very pretty there.
