Most folks are stuck on the "Stella", but the first part cracks me up, because it's like she's really high ..." Say what..[cheesing at the camera] ...say what..." and then laughing out "Astronaut" after the pictue has been taken. That is brilliant...
This is my all time favorite scene on all of Seinfeld. Julia was outstanding with this performance. After it aired, will never forget being at work the next day and everyone mocking that sound of "Stella" , could be heard everywhere, and everyone would burst out laughing. Our boss had no clue what we were doing and got pissed at us. God was Julia good with this scene! Superb acting! And a great remedy for a binge of needed laughter! What the heck happened to good funny positive TV???
I didn't get it the first time I saw this as I wasn't familiar with Tennessee Williams at the time (in Norway we read Ibsen and Hamsun in high school). After watching Brando in "A streetcar named desire" I totally got it and it's now one of my favorite Seinfeld-episodes. Well, the "Soup-nazi" is still the funniest if I had to pick one... :o)
I’m retired now but when I worked the admin clerk at head office was named Stella and every time she called me I went “STELLA” and curiously she laughed every single time so I kept it up.
Kat Nesterenko Stellaaa! очень популярная фраза ис кино "Трамвай «Желание»" Марлон Брандо так кричит в фильме. Мне тоже не нравится это сериал. Но, как-то, мои все друзья - поклонниками этого сериала.
+moneeraarabic It was the most successful Sitcom and Highest grossing television program throughout the 90's. Pretty sure it's not remotely underrated.
I wish more people would got that she's saying Stella like that because in the episode everyone she was introduced to had s name from a character in "a streetcar named desire"
When I was in High School before every sports event I would get jitters. So to just let loose and relieve any stress I would randomly scream STELLAAAAAAAA really loud. Needless to say it worked every time.
I used to work at Starbucks and one time we had a cup come down the line that was for a Stella. I called it out just like this. Weird looks, all around.
Man I want to have a daughter and call her Stella... Wait I gotta get married... Wait I gotta get woman who loves me...😨😢.... ...STELLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAA..... STELLLLLLLLAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
I sometimes will say the "Steelaaaaaa" but I guess some people don't know why. Fortunately there are not that many people in Anchorage named Stella or I just haven't met them!
I know it comes from "A Streetcar Named Desire.' I like the clip that she says to the lady about her fiance baby. Elaine says "Maybe the Dingo got yo baby." The lady asks Elaine what she said and Elaine says "The Dingo got yo baaby!" For obvious reasons some people might find it offensive and I can see why, but within this context it is really funny.
my favorite scene for two reasons 1 because it makes me laugh everytime and 2 because my girlfreind's name is Stella so when i see her im like STELLAAAAA!!!!!!
The way she delivers that first "Stellaaaa..." is just perfect.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus is comic genius in anything she's in.
