The main thing that comes to mind for me when watching and listening to a Shaolin monk is that they are true humans; they focus every aspect of themselves and concentrate it and channel it to live up to their fullest potential. Their minds, their bodies, everything, they train and train and train to perfect them, and it blows my mind every time I see it.
It is always a way of self-improving and always there are bottlenecks to break open. It needs mind strength, not just only body strength. I think the spiritual part of the kungfu is more intriguing.
And one more thing Shaolin Kung Fu has been called King of the fighting Arts grandfather of all martial arts granddaddy of hand-to-hand fighting and those are facts and true about the number one Kung Fu style
Shaolin did participate in warfare at points in history, so likely at least some of what he performs were employed for real. He doesn’t specify which, but we can assume that the very quick and non-flashy movements are more likely to have been used than the large spinning movements, since in real battles it’s been pretty much solidified that simple and quick attacks are much more effective. That’s not to say that flashy movements were never used, as something like swinging the spear in an arc can definitely do some serious damage, it’s just that it’s less likely than the simple but deadly thrusts.
1:00 I imagine it breaking, him tying it up the broken parts with a strip of cloth, then show casing the broken spear skills, getting accused of murder by the abbots due to a person being recently murdered by the same skills, and then being exile from the monastery.
I'm supposed to quit marijuana to better my lungs, along w/ eating super healthy, learn martial arts, body building, and become a data scientist but instead I brought a $35 ham radio walkie/talkie, $28 61 keyboard electronic piano, $300 oz of pot, $20 USB grow light, and portable foldable solar panel charger. Electronics are fun to play with. I need to get back in shape.

Did they actually use these techniques in real life or is this just for the video?
Like he said at the start, this style is for performance. Less an actual fighting form and more an exercise.
