    I watched a dozen other videos before finding and viewing yours. None of them did a very good job explaining the process. I was almost ready to take my Benelli, into the shop, to pay to have the drop adjusted. You did an awesome job explaining each step. I am going to adjust the drop myself today. Thank you! My wife works for Milwaukee Public Schools, her first thought was that you must be a teacher by profession.

    I’ve been meaning to do this on my super black eagle 2 for years but just haven’t. Everyone tells me that gun is amazing and some people have wanted to buy it off me. And I fucking hated it. But looking at it right now it wasn’t even set up properly for me. I changed the shims in it and I think it’s way better now. Just holding it feels better to my eye. Like all these years… Like probably 13 or 14 years I hated this gun. Can’t wait to try it now. Fingers crossed.

    This is great! Question- i just bought a SBE 3, like you i am left handed. It is a left handed Benelli. It shoots slightly high but I float my targets anyways. But its off right 6-8 inches. What do you suggest on the cast?

    • @HollyGoThatWay
      @HollyGoThatWay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm assuming the cast is correct so you shouldn't need to mess with that. Mine also shoots about that high, so if you're not comfortable floating the target that much, you could lower the drop a bit from whatever it came at to the next size lower, if that makes sense.

  • @nathanielchoate69
    @nathanielchoate69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Is there only supposed to be one shim in the SBE3 20 gauge? When I took mine apart it only had one shim labeled “DX”. It is not a left or right handed reversible cast shim like in your video it is actually a drop shim. It only comes with A,B,C,DX, and D but not cast shims.

    • @HollyGoThatWay
      @HollyGoThatWay  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it's shooting to the left, your head isn't positioned correctly in the stock. Unfortunately they don't have shims to increase or decrease cast, so you have to practice head placement. With an UNLOADED gun, mount the gun pointed at a mirror. You should see your pupil reflected behind the bead. If it's not, reposition your head until it is and practice achieving that position every time.
      Also: Is it possible you're cross dominant - left-eye dominant and right-handed? That can throw you pretty bad.

  • @DuckMan415
    @DuckMan415 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Holly,
    If my sbe2 is shooting high, which shim do you suggest I try out to bring my pattern down? It’s about 6-8” high at 30 yards. I currently have the letter B shim. Thanks!

    • @HollyGoThatWay
      @HollyGoThatWay  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Here's the thing about SBEs: They're designed to shoot high, so you can either choose the shim that drops the stock to its lowest level, or you can shoot them the way they're designed to be shot, which is to "float the target" above the bead (so in your case, 6-8" above the bead). This enables you to fully see the bird (or clay) instead of obscuring it with the muzzle when it's coming straight in or going straight out. Of course, it also means you need to remember to float the target on a crossing shot when you're leading it, which is a little more complicated for my brain.
      When I first switched to the SBE3, that was a hard adjustment for me to make, and I would still prefer for the shot to go where the bead is when I'm looking down the barrel because I shot that way for my first ten years or so.

    • @DuckMan415

      @@HollyGoThatWay I also shoot a sbe1 as my main gun that does not have a shim and it shoots where I am aiming. I am trying to make the back up sbe2 shoot the same so when I use it there is no thinking, just aim and squeeze. And I shoot well with the sbe1
