    Yes, I can hear the quality of the Blue Yeti in contrast to the lavalier and the built-in iPad mic. The lavalier makes it sound like you have vocal fry. Thanks for the tech exploration involved in gathering sound for your vids! Hope the new mic works better for your minimalist vanlife.

    Man, that is a shame. It did sound pretty good. As someone with the luxury of a studio, I was unaware of such an issue with the Blue Yeti connection. I do know that the Blue Yeti and the Snowball were very popular with many TH-camrs. I am fortunate that I can use XLR cables and mics. Good solid connections with a thick balanced cable. I look forward to seeing what you get. I hope you have better luck.

    Reducing the background noise is a great feature and allows viewers to focus better on what you're saying without having to "strain" their ears, but I, and I believe many others, watch your videos because of the contents, not because of the supreme sound quality (it's not a music channel). Btw, I was surprised how good the built-in microphone on the tablet itself was and I certainly wouldn't be put off if you used more basic audio equipment. I believe that your loyal viewers are well aware of the limited space available to you in the van and seeing you use good quality gear just shows your level of dedication to this channel. Stay safe and comfortable. Looking forward to your future videos :-)

    • @StaticCamperVan
      @StaticCamperVan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. What I didn’t convey well in the video is how much extra editing time it takes whenever I don’t use a good quality microphone.
      There’s a fine line between being a minimalist and having enough equipment to make these videos easier to produce.

    • @StaticCamperVan

      The wobbly boom arm doesn’t come with the Blue Yeti. There are better quality boom arms. As for the Blue Yeti itself, the sound is great. The old style USB connector the company is using, isn’t so good.

    The Yeti mic makes it sound like you're in the same room with me, where the other mics sound like you're on the other side of a computer screen if that makes sense. I use hot glue for wobbly connections like that (since it just peels away later) but in your situation that's probably not doable! At any rate, I love your voice! :)

    I've had the Audio Technica AT2020 USB mic for almost a decade. The things that make it convenient are why the quality suffers. All things considered, it's save me so much time it was totally worth the price. The Blue Yeti really gives your voice a warm tone. The 2020 uses the old school USB connection. If you break it, it's your fault.

    Cool deal. Didn’t realize you were using an iPad Pro. I ditched the laptop in June 2019 for an “iPad Pro only” van office. 😁 Which video editing app are you using? I use LumaFusion - $25 or so 1 time fee and updated often. As for mics, I use the Tonor TC30 USB mic and connect it like you do to my iPad. Cost about $30 on Amazon. Comes with mic, mini tripod, pop filter and shock mount. It’s been working well for me. I’m actually using it today for an upcoming van build cost breakdown video. I totally understand how frustrating it is when it’s noisy outside the van. You need an “on air” or “recording” neon light outside. 😂🤣

    • @StaticCamperVan

  • @arnoldsnodgrass2953

    Perhaps I’m missing something but can you not leave the cable plugged into the mic and disconnect it at the other end where it plugs into the little Apple converter thingy? The Yeti sounded really good.

    • @StaticCamperVan
      @StaticCamperVan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Leaving it plugged in puts strain on the already weak connector.

  • @AlejoHausner
    @AlejoHausner 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you feel brave, use some fine pliers to pinch the metal case in the female end (on the mic), so it grabs the male cable end firmly. Of course, be very careful.

    • @StaticCamperVan
      @StaticCamperVan  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @AlejoHausner
