A cover of the Enforcers theme, as well as Fateful Confrontation, from the video game Trails In Sky: Second Chapter.
As said in the previous Trails cover, I am completely addicted to this series with it's amazing story and fantastic music! I seriously can't recommend these games enough.
There are a ton of songs I want to cover from this series, so there will definitely be more to come, and let me know if there's any you want to hear!
So trying to keep things spoiler free, Enforcers more or less serves as the main theme for the main enemies in the game, and Fateful Confrontation is the battle theme against said enemies. I thought it was super cool how the two tracks are related as they use the same melodies for certain parts, with some cool variations. I love both tracks so I thought it would be a good idea to combine the two into one song! Definitely a more shreddy cover which I haven't done in a while, but it was a lot of fun and a good challenge to learn the scale runs in the song. To keep things in theme with the previous Trails cover, I definitely wanted more keyboard parts to keep that proggy vibe, but these songs are darker than the previous Trails cover so I leaned more into the intensity and had the keys more as layers rather than at the front of the mix. I purposely used a lot more metal influences that I wanted to to reflect in the song, particularly those djenty chugs, the metalcore riff that's very reminiscent of "Like Light To The Flies" by Trivium, and then obviously Dream Theater with the time sig riff and the outro, that I wanted that down tempo feel like "Dark Eternal Night" and "S2N".
From a mixing point, this is also one of my favourite covers in a while, super happy with the bass tone (thanks to my Darkglass pedal!) and happy how I managed to get a pretty intense drum sound too to fit the song.
I really hope you enjoy this cover cos I had so much fun making it!
