First time I watched whole straight from morning to evening, start of the build to its completion running on water and wow..Sir you are amazing..salute
Joshua, what an incredible series of videos that only a certified obsessive compulsive individual can execute with such patience and commitment! Thank you for all your effort, which is a source of tremendous inspiration. All the best!
All those big, fancy houses on the lake... and every single one was envious of you flying by in your mahogany beauty! Great video, glad to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor!
So you built a boat. You also did an incredible job of it and your attention to detail was second to none. I hope your kids enjoy it and they are proud of their dad because he certainly went the extra mile with this project. By the way.... I hope you are proud of yourself mate, that is simply beautiful. Well done. 👍👍👍👍👍🇦🇺
Dude, I've watched all your Zip clips. I enjoyed watching you make "great progress" all the way through. Fantastic work!!! I hope you and your family get many years out of it!
I just finished watching your entire series on Your Zip build. All I can say is OUTSTANDING!! What a beautiful boat. Enjoy your time on the water with your family.
How pretty is that thing on the water?? Unreal. Genuinely soo delighted for you. Lovely to see the kids enjoying it too. There's definitely worse ways to spend 4 years. It's been a great journey. Massive thanks for sharing all this with us Joshua. Ur a top man
Holy cow! I've been drooling over Glen-L, Clarkcraft, Hankinson, etc. plans for 30 years. That is the prettiest Zip I have ever seen. That is some beautiful work. Well done to the builder. I'll bet it takes you 30 minutes to put gas in it because everybody stops to look at it and talk. She's a head turner for sure. I've built a couple wooden canoes and one day hope to make the plunge into building a little runabout. If I can come even somewhere close to the build level of yours, I'll be happy.
Claude Gravel my ultimate goal was to show people that anyone can do it! maybe learn some tips and avoid my mistakes, hopefully these vids help and inspire others.
WOW! She is Gorgeous!! You put an amazing amount of work into her. You must be VERY proud. I must admit, I am jealous! I bought plans for a zip myself after viewing one of your early videos a few years ago. I have not yet started the project. Your videos have both encouraged me that I can do it, and terrified me about the time it takes to actually build it. But, the end result, it is breathtaking!
Randy Stover don't let my build intimidate you one bit, most Zips are built in 500-700 hrs. it is very possible to build two Zips in the time it took me to build mine, 1.)buy a running outboard shave off 40 hrs. 2.)pay to have the stainless built or don't do any stainless shave off another 40 hrs. 3.) minus the big A$$ stereo shave off another 40 hrs. i could go on and on with time savers, it all depends on what you want your boat to be. don't give up, before you know it you could be opening your garage to stare at your beautiful Zip!
joshuaburks, I have HATED all the other Zip builds I've seen. It seems like they wanted a boat as cheap as they could get one versus having something they would be proud to drag to the marina. I bet you get compliments out the ying yang whenever you fuel up or launch.
Such an inspiring, beautiful, and helpful boat and series! It has inspired me to build a zip! So far I have finished the hull and will be flipping it right side up for good; in the next couple days. Thank you again!
What an amazing project. The boat is unbelievably beautiful and the craftsmanship impeccable. Thanks for the excellent documantation abd videos of the project. I would have loved to be able to see some of the construction. However, I would not want to be there when you get that first scratch . You deserve to be very proud.
Josh, beautiful boat! Looking forward to watching the whole build you have documented. Very awesome job!!! I’m hoping to build the Glen-L Cracker Box. Your video documentation is truly amazing for myself and anyone else who is going to take on a build like this. Again, awesome job on every level and a truly epic job on blazing a trail for the rest of us.
I've watched every video, thanks for taking the time to make each and every one. Gongradulations on your beautiful creation, you should be extremely proud. She turned out amazing. Building a boat of my own is on my list, you have certainly served as an inspiration. I'm gonna miss the videos, you'll have to build a bigger one now!
What a great little boat. One can tell that you paid extra attention to detail and appearance. It seems to do very well on the water. Hope the replacement parts come in soon for the the engine. Can't really enjoy it with the damaged and broken prop!. Don't know what the laws are up in Oragon but next time, maybe allow your kids a little wheel time. I bet they would enjoy it !
Ken J thanks for the compliment! i definately will let the kids drive it, in Oregon you have to have a boaters license to operate anything above 9.9hp, but what they don't know won't hurt them! 😄
Been following your progress since you started. Great job. My "zip" is still at the frame state. Really slacked off the past 3 years, busy all the time. Retiring in a few more years to move back home to Michigan and live in a 5th wheel. Not sure I'll ever get to work on my Zip again.. Congrats on the finish.
Beautiful boat bud! I’ve enjoyed the videos. I’m wrapping up my pole barn this summer and hope to start a boat project of my own in the next few years. My wife roles her eyes when I talk about it, but she did the same when I talked about the garage build. Now I’m tying up loose ends. I’ve got my eye on the GlenL - 24’6” Atlantic skiff.
Simon Fortney funny you say that, i have been looking at a Glen-L skiff as well..... pretty much everyone around me rolled thier eyes at my hair brained boat build idea four years ago, not so much now! thanks for watching.... Josh
What motors do you suppose were available in the sixties when this boat was designed? Four strokes are heavy gutless turds when compared to an equivalent hp two stroke, there isn't a 25hp four stroke on the market that will plane this boat this quick or top out like my merc. You can keep your four strokes!
Nice boat josh really i like u work .. pls don’t forget to use marine grease to the shaft before fix the new propeller and u a new lock pin .. really am wishing all the best with u boat 🚣♀️
After seeing your beautiful Zip I know a jet powered Malahini would be great. *hint* I would be up for another multi-year project if you are. Dude, you are a master. Thank you for posting all these years. I'm curious as to your next project? Maybe a cabin as you're in the beautiful northwest?
Josh, I'm really going to miss your Zip updates, I've always looked forward to the beginning of the month. Maybe you could start a series on building a Woodie to tow this beauty. Thank You very much for the last four years
Actually within this first month of use I think you have started a new record. The record of repair and maintainance. Rectifier, anode, trim rudder, new prop, and bolt. Ahhhh the second part of boat ownership!
The bottom of the boat seems to be a little thin as it's reflecting even these very small waves. Had a similar boat, build in the 60's, I rebuild it almost completely. For the bottom I choose 10mm ply instead of original 5mm. Mine had a 30hp engine at an width of 1,45m and about 200 kg boat weight plus about 200 kg of engine, battery, petrol, luggage... Good for 28 nautical miles, being the slowest of our fleet but the seaworthiest. No problem at Beaufort 6 on the open water of Netherlands Zuiderzee.
Dude I love the boat ! I really feel the engine lets it down a bit though . Perhaps this winter you can graft a vintage outboard cowl onto that engine to complete the boat ?
Josh you're going to have to improve the maintenance schedule - I'm sure I saw some dust on that super gloss finish. Lol Only joking man, she's looking real real nice! But just a little warning here, you're going to get boat building withdrawal symptoms pretty soon. Your in the final "Pimp My Boat" phase and then it's ok, what can I do now...? You'll start looking around the web again at other boats... I finished mine last last year (on YT) and I'm already thinking about selling it and building another one! My wife thinks I'm crazy - she might be right! = ) Once again - well done!
Robin Hodgkinson thanks for the compliments! i know exactly what you're saying, it is a very strange feeling not having a "to do" list every day after work or every weekend,..... call me crazy too, i have been surfing already 🤣
I watched all of your videos from the beginning and I have to say a nice job. The boat looks great. I do have one suggestion. Save your money and get a modern 4 stroke engine. I notice in your video your son sitting in the back with his fingers in his ears. Modern 4 strokes are super quite and even with some it's hard to tell they are running. Another plus is the 4 stroke will outlive that old 2 stroke and you don't have to mix gas and oil. And as far as the environment goes, the 4 stroke will not pollute the lake water. Again, great job.
You have done an absolute amazing job on building this boat. No shortcuts at all. I love how you keep commenting on the shine/reflection of your boat finish. Well done, Joshua. You should be very proud of your job!!
First time I watched whole straight from morning to evening, start of the build to its completion running on water and wow..Sir you are amazing..salute
Your boat is a thing of beauty!
Simply awesome!!! I enjoyed the progress videos as well as the launch and performance reviews. Thanks for sharing!
Love your boat and all the explanation along the way!
Brings back memories of when all the boats on our lake, were made out of wood. Great job.
Good job! Absolutely inspiring! Congratulations from Hamburg!
Joshua, what an incredible series of videos that only a certified obsessive compulsive individual can execute with such patience and commitment! Thank you for all your effort, which is a source of tremendous inspiration. All the best!
Beautiful build. Harkens back to the golden age of runabouts. Genuinely classic. Congratulations!
All those big, fancy houses on the lake... and every single one was envious of you flying by in your mahogany beauty! Great video, glad to see you enjoying the fruits of your labor!
Garret Carson thanks Garret! we are having a blast with it!

That is the most beautiful little boat I ever saw.
Can’t believe just found this, watched all the vids so far, this is amazing.
Dude, your craftsmanship is amazing, thank you for sharing.

Bob Springer thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching!
The boat looks great. I'd say that's Tenmile lake if you're out of North Bend.
Thank you and you are correct, tenmile Lake
Beautiful boat... great job..
So cool just to see her in the water ..... A great big thumbs up
David Cummings thanks!
How pretty is that thing on the water?? Unreal. Genuinely soo delighted for you. Lovely to see the kids enjoying it too. There's definitely worse ways to spend 4 years. It's been a great journey. Massive thanks for sharing all this with us Joshua. Ur a top man
Clem Dake Thanks Clem! as a fellow boat builder once said... "it would have taken the same amount of time to not build it" 🤣 time well wasted!
Holy cow! I've been drooling over Glen-L, Clarkcraft, Hankinson, etc. plans for 30 years. That is the prettiest Zip I have ever seen. That is some beautiful work. Well done to the builder. Amazing work. Can’t imagine the feeling you had taking it for it’s first ride.
Josh, you did something simply fantastic , you will be an inspiration for future dreams for sure
Great great work tkx
Claude Gravel my ultimate goal was to show people that anyone can do it! maybe learn some tips and avoid my mistakes, hopefully these vids help and inspire others.
She's a beauty. You've done an amazing job with this build. Congratulations. 🛥

i could go on and on with time savers, it all depends on what you want your boat to be. don't give up, before you know it you could be opening your garage to stare at your beautiful Zip!
Don’t toss the prop either! Keep it for a spare and store it in the boat just in case.
joshuaburks, I have HATED all the other Zip builds I've seen. It seems like they wanted a boat as cheap as they could get one versus having something they would be proud to drag to the marina. I bet you get compliments out the ying yang whenever you fuel up or launch.
Simon Fortney that's my plan, save the prop and nut for an emergency spare.
Joel , thanks for the compliment! i will talk more about it in the july 14th video but the amount of attention the Zip gets is very surprising.
Very well done. Like many of your subscribers, I too have been following your progress from the beginning. Enjoy your creation.
Beautiful. Reminds me of my brothers old century with an outboard.
Absolutely superb craftsmanship! Gorgeous boat!
Such an inspiring, beautiful, and helpful boat and series! It has inspired me to build a zip! So far I have finished the hull and will be flipping it right side up for good; in the next couple days. Thank you again!
Will AWESOME!! keep me in the loop if you post any videos, i will definately follow your build!
joshuaburks Will do! :)
Wow sick job and sick looking boat my god thats gorgeous
What an amazing project. The boat is unbelievably beautiful and the craftsmanship impeccable. Thanks for the excellent documantation abd videos of the project. I would have loved to be able to see some of the construction. However, I would not want to be there when you get that first scratch . You deserve to be very proud.
Graham Stewart thanks for the compliment! i jokingly told my friends i was going to whack it with a hammer to get the first scratch over with 🤣🤣🤣
beautiful boat :)

Rodney Reynolds thanks Rodney for the compliments!
From wood gas all these years to finishing the boat it’s got to feel great great job Josh
What a beautiful boat and the most though "how to". You can buy all the materials but you can't buy skill or patience. Super job all around.

Gorgeous! I’m ordering the wood and will start cutting soon. Never trust people who buy boats. Build your own or stay on the shore.
Well done. Very nice job with lot of dedication. I hope I can build something like this some time. I am a newbe though. Very nice boat
Congratulations man. Awesome boat.
Michael Harding thank you

Wow, Well done.
One day I hope to do the same.
Amazing.
Great job!
Josh, I'm really going to miss your Zip updates, I've always looked forward to the beginning of the month. Maybe you could start a series on building a Woodie to tow this beauty. Thank You very much for the last four years
Kent Dutrieux glad you enjoyed and thanks for following along.
uff! what a beauty!
She handles so well
love the boat josh, done a vid of mine love to show you, keep safe
Very nice! Now that you have a couple of hours on it, check the lower unit lube for any water ingress
Parabéns pelo empenho, o barco ficou lindo,e parece navegar muito bem, com certeza merece meu like 👍😃🚤🧭⚓🇧🇷👍
Drop-dead gorgeous boat! Beautiful family. Where are all of your PFD's, brother?
Nice job... I wonder if you could put a merc 60 on there...
Awesome
And all those people in those big fancy houses are watching that pretty little boat scoot across the lake in front of them.
Very nice
Actually within this first month of use I think you have started a new record. The record of repair and maintainance. Rectifier, anode, trim rudder, new prop, and bolt. Ahhhh the second part of boat ownership!

🤣 it's a hole in the water that you throw money into.... lolol

Top job. It seems your son prefers inboards:-)
Jakub Trojanowski 🤣🤣🤣 funny you said that, i asked him when we were out if it was too loud... he said "no, my ears are cold" lololol
Dude I love the boat ! I really feel the engine lets it down a bit though . Perhaps this winter you can graft a vintage outboard cowl onto that engine to complete the boat ?
lapistola28 your reading my mind!
Looking forward to those vids !
incredible
You should add a wake tower to the boat
Very, very nice!
peter1708 thank you
Josh you're going to have to improve the maintenance schedule - I'm sure I saw some dust on that super gloss finish. Lol
Only joking man, she's looking real real nice! But just a little warning here, you're going to get boat building withdrawal symptoms pretty soon. Your in the final "Pimp My Boat" phase and then it's ok, what can I do now...? You'll start looking around the web again at other boats... very nice. How many months did you need to make it? Where bought the project?
You did an awesome build I am new to all these and I would like to build one can you list the tools used to build it and materials and price
im impressed!
Look awesome!
R3d N3cK thanks, did you get moved into your new place?
We did, about 8 months ago. I'm almost done with the honey do list!
Again, great job.
dcrahn thanks for the compliments!
nice boat like chocolate
Fantastic!
J Coop thank you
Great work! So what's next project? =)
Norrlanning hmmmmm. maybe a classic car,... maybe a Harley,... maybe another BOAT!
You have done an absolute amazing job on building this boat. No shortcuts at all. I love how you keep commenting on the shine/reflection of your boat finish. I'd probably be doing the same haha!😂
Your boat has some get up and go with just a 25hp on it. Is there any reason why you didn't go any bigger though? Are you planning on having your family and friends water skiing behind it?
Cheers,
Col
Colaaah thanks for the compliments, i guess the simple answer as to why I'm running a 25 hp is,.... at the time it was all i could find, i originally wanted a 40 hp, but had no luck finding one with a short shaft, as luck would have it i am very pleased with the 25hp merc and don't plan on replacing it anytime soon.
joshuaburks fair enough, each to their own. I grew up around fast ski boats and waterskiing, hence the curiosity 🤔😎🤔
Fantastic stuff mate... real happy for you! :) It sure looks sweet glistening in the sunshine... all the wood grain really pops. 👍🏽 I heard a noise at 9:29 which might’ve been the prop getting beat up?
Goes well for 25 HP, too.
great boat sir. I watched all of your videos in this build , it's perfect. can you share the layout of this boat? i'm interested to build this kind of boat. I'm from Philippines
Does the kit come with the windshield or did you make it
