I am an hour and a half in. So far, great drama! Clever FL who teases excellent and protective ML. She sees through his disguises, so very little misunderstanding. He doesn't allow any green tea near him and is fiercely loyal to his wife. Their son is super cute and smart.
Good version of the plot. ML always rocks in these costume dramas. FL was brilliant, funny and ready to fight. The little boy awesome too. With a complete and super happy ending...on to the next!!!

Maybe not a spectacular drama but definitely worth a re-watch for the strong couple with healthy view on building relationships. Can the translation teams also translate the Chinese script appearing on the screen. Seems like introduction to each character

Good Drama 👍 The emperor rubs me the wrong way though. He would really favor the other sons and give the throne to someone incompetent just because the ML’s mother was a palace maid 😒 as if he didn’t ruin her life by getting drunk and having an “affair” 🙄 Now he only gives the ML the throne just because he wants his son who was nice to him to inherit the throne 🤦♀️
This is actually a reupload of an old drama. But i dig it because BOTH leads are smart and figure everything out. Then they're both playful with each other as they work to secure a throne. The only thing this needed was more physicality between the leads.
This was a very good drama. It's unusual because it's fast-paced but it's complete. Plot points were shown and resolved, although quickly but it was all there. SPOILERS AHEAD... The good thing about this is we aren't subjected to long drawn out green tea schemes and insults, stupid misunderstandings, mistaken identities that take forever to discover, couples that work separately and unintentionally against each other instead of together, an emperor that does not know how to weigh things fairly and acts so indecisively or wrongly till the end. The bad thing about this is that we could have seen more development of the romance and true meaningful love between the leads if it was longer.. It was mostly just flirting on the FL's part. It seems like they immediately jumped from being strangers with trust issues to true love. I don't know if it's a chemistry issue, or acting skill issue, or script issue. It just was lacking something to elevate this to a higher level. One can sometimes forgive glaring story issues with a pair that has amazing chemistry and charm. They did include a couple of scenes of the father and son relationship, from rejection to the ML teaching him swordplay. It could have used more of these scenes especially since the kid is quite charming and a pretty good actor. His crying scene when trying to help the emperor was well done. I appreciate that the SFL, the sister, was punished immediately when her wrongdoings were discovered. She did escape by some scheming helped by being reborn but at least you didn't have characters repeatedly committing crimes and not punished at all. The rebirth arc was introduced late and dealt with quickly but it was all logical developments and in keeping with the character's personality (the SFL bragging about it and telling the FL herself when she thought she won). I enjoyed this drama, it was a stress free watch with leads that were smart and logical in their actions, and a cute young child actor.
I understand her not recognizing him in their meeting at the doctor's store because he wore a mask before but how could he not recognize her? Well I guess it was only for a brief time, he wasn't very interested in her at the time and it was five years ago...ok I can accept it
