I'm so happy to see roahmm back on this project I really really enjoy his MMBN LPs. Comes at a great time too now that I'm back to having a semi normal life and free of the vices and working regularly.
I appreciate that we’re basically getting a Sword type area (from Gargoyle Castle to the dungeon). Maybe Gargoyle Comp could also pass for Invis based on the ninja motif (ntm ShadowMan’s). Also in the 100 challenge, is that a Kendo stance Lan’s taking?
I think Baryl is likely to investigate it on his own. Chances are he trusts Lan, given how many missions they’ve done where Lan could have easily gotten the entire team deleted, but since they need Number Man's incredible analysing abilities, he doesn’t want to be too hasty about it. Baryl is more likely to think someone is tricking Lan rather than Lan and Mega trying to frame Higsby. Baryl also likely knows Lan and Higsby are friends so he also knows Lan wouldn’t make such an accusation lightly.
I used to struggle with the 100 trial,. until I realized that as long as you focus on them in the order they appear, you'll be mostly fine, despite the anxiety.
I forget when the DS version lets you start it's crossover content with the dual slot Boktai 2... But I have to imagine it's after the 100 ninjas considering what it is.
Besides the town in the net, this is the only thing i remember about this scenario, the samurai mini game. It's so frustrating, but i remembered it happening the other way. But my memory is bad and my twin was playing the other game on the same cartridge, so I'm bound to recall some things out of order
Wait. When you "fight" certain navis, they have you fight other net navis rather than themselves. Unlike in the show, where the navis just fight each other directly, somewhat evident by the fact Lans orginal net navi is a default basic, uncustomized navi. Therefore, the netnavis, use other netnavis to fight. What in the megman inception is going on? Do the netnavis have netnavis? Why cant we do that.
I was stuck on the 100 fighters challenge for literal YEARS. MMBN5DTDS was my first MMBN game and I could not for my life beat it on the tiny DS Lite d-pad as a child. I gave up and eventually came back to it on the 3DS and beat it with the joystick. Pain.
I remember hating the 100 foes minigame, especially since in Double Team DS, you have to put up with the voiced sound of Lan swinging his sword, this minigame got voiced in that version

Snappers are in Battle Networks 2, Network Transmission, 5, and the anime. Like most viruses that appear in previous games, they're much stronger in BN5.
I agree I didn't care for how bn5 handled it. The other games did it much better. I got so tired of fighting the same virus over and over again. At least when you encounter v2 and v3 mid to late game normally there is an added challenge to get chip data.
@@RagonnetI mean I’d say BN4 did it WAY worse but we can’t really say there’s a right way to pace level 2 and 3 viruses, 5 doesn’t do it well but then 6 gives you them earlier and the whole game has like no challenge because chips like Reflector 3 are broken, I will say BN3 does a nice job with it
I recently fired up Mega Man IV on gameboy for lols, and... I went into Toad Man with 1 health and won on the first try by locking him into hopping. Looks like he sucks just as much as he does on NES. I seem to remember you saying Bright Man's Flash Stopper is completely random on gameboy so I just weakness-abused him. But my streak ended at Ring Man, who looks like he has a similar pattern to NES but I'm bad at it. Anyway, this game. Wait... so it wasn't Ninja Turning Into A Higsby, but Ninja Turning Into A Megaman? OH that's cool! The armour comps are plot-relevant! Oh boy, it's time for 100 Man Melee! Ugh, no mistakes allowed at all sounds rough. Why does this whole scenario feel like something out of a random BN4 tournament storyline? And dungeon time! The Ninja Progs look cool, but the puzzle gimmick sounds like it'll get evil later. Nice music in this place though. I'm hoping the boss isn't just NumberMan, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Best part is that I recently finished binging the PoR LP Pink featured Roahm as a guest in. I'm getting ready for when I pick up the Dominus Collection.

Well, Roahm, at least you make Ktna sound cool! It reminds me of the female rapper in the Japanese version of Rhythm Heaven Fever (a.k.a. Beat the Beat: Rhythm Paradise in PAL regions, Everybody's Rhythm Heaven in Japan, or Rhythm World Wii in Korea)!
That mini-game of 100 fighters was crazy. The difficulty escalated rapidly as I progressed through that mini-game. Especially for those last 20 black fighters, they came way too fast and in all directions. I got surrounded and failed at the last couple of phases so many times, to the point I RAGE QUITTED the game for months. No kidding! Even the GargoyleComp challenge immediately afterwards was much easier than this!
Well, not knowing what happens after this point, I can see why Beryl seems uncaring about Higsby being a part of Nebula; he doesn't want to show it, but he is contemplating the news and likely formulating a plan. I'm sure that such a thing would be much more understandable if these games were in a far more cinematic and not sprite-based style like, say, The Last of Us.
Or if the cutscene just lasted more than like 4 text boxes. But this is MMBN, the games are always at risk of blowing up the cartridge from how much content they have
I hate that cut game so much. For some specific context: I don’t have great hands, and I played Battle Network on an emulator on computer when I was like 11-13. Trying to do that 100 while shaking on arrow keys was such a deep nightmare.
The 100 Foes mini-game really, really was my least favorite thing of BN5, my hand constantly cramped every time I tried to hit right and down. It took a border crossing during a hot day to beat it and it was a miracle to do so.
oh man! oh man! oh man! I can't wait for you to see Regal whenever you get back to MaGMML 3 while swapping between the two projects. Regal is one of my all time fav villains and this is one of my favorite games too so i'm excited for you to see his cameo!
NinJoy only appears in Network Transmission, BN2 and BN5. And that minigame is the worst one in the entire Battle Network Series, at least in my opinion.
I find it kinda weird that it took until BN5 to have a truly Japanese styled network; if there was an equivalent of s Shinto shrine in one of these games, I could easily see it as a base for a SpringManEXE; complete with a miko for an operator. It's also kinda interesting that NinJoys (formerly Snappers) function differently here as opposed to both BN2 & NT... no more kunai throwing from them.
How about the fact this map would've been perfect for Japan/Yamatoman.EXE? It was actually revealed by the devs during a Q&A that Napalmman.EXE actually left the World Three Area to look for more blasting power, ran into Fyrefox, and both hit it off as partners easily. Why couldn't they do that for Japan/Yamato as well? He left the Secret Area then found himself at home as the new guardian of End Castle, becoming an optional boss fight like someone soon to come.
@@richardquinata76 Problem is, with how he was depicted in BN3, the only way he could return is if something terrible happened to Serenade (like finding out their operator was a fraud & went mad in the process) & causing Japan/YamatoMan to break from his former master as a result. And if I was to give him an operator, I'd name him Takashi (because I'm not letting that joke go anytime soon).

One way I can see Japan/Yamatoman.EXE leaving Serenade's side is on orders from the Under King, who sensed the dangers and wanted someone to keep an eye on things. So Japan/Yamato would help guard End Castle until Nebula is gone, after which he would return to the Secret Area.

Repeat, I will not let go of that joke, & it's even funnier when you find out one of Resident Evil's original composers did work on some of the BN titles, including this one. I wonder what Akari Kaida actually thought of Mamoru Samuragochi... & his ghost composer Takashi Niigaki...
The kendo minigame really can be either very short or take an annoying amount of time if you’re playing on actual hardware because using the dpad for it sucks when trying to be accurate. That and the RNG. Gargoyle Network really does introduce some pretty annoying viruses. The NinJoys are especially bad during liberation missions and Zomons claiming your panels with area grab can get really nasty especially if you wind up surrounded in liberation battles. Fun fact about this area though is just like Ship Comp, the NA release removed a whole area and it used to be 4 areas long. I wanna say Legacy Collections added them back in.
In this case, from what I've seen on the maps I've been using, I don't think this network was four areas long, but instead, Area 2 was completely redesigned.

Not just Legacy Collection. Even BN5 Double Team DS (the Nintendo DS version) also followed the layout of original Japanese versions. ShipComp and GargoyleComp were supposed to have 4 areas indeed.
The samurai challenge is so awful. I originally played BN5 on an android emulator and dealing with the latency of digital touchscreen buttons had me stuck for a week.
Ah yes this is where the fun begins. Or suffering, depending on how you look at it. Maybe even both. Like its a fairly iconic part of the game, for better or worse. I'm still not quite sure how I feel though The 100 warriors trial. You know, because. I mean it is a megaman game after all, it does still feel kinda punishing, especially. It's not that hard, I guess. Baryl doesnt have much to say though, heh. That being said. Another point is the layout of scilab. Its been different in every single game as well (though I dont think we actually get to go to scilab itself in bn4) And the relative lack of security, onscreen that is. I mean, I assume its more that lan has actual clearance to enter and all that, and even then in the other games its not like he can just walk in all the time freely. Another detour to end area 3 aand Not just scilab, like. The gargoyle and what not in end city, where is the security? Not that I would know hmm. Im assuming the legacy collection didnt change anything. It would have been nice if they had actually made some small improvements I mean the whole trial lasts about a minute I guess? The song itself actually is only 15 seconds long, which is really short even by this game's standard

The fact that the programs are ALWAYS YELLING really doesn't make them good ninjas.
Naruto ninjas too, they literally explain exactly what they're about to do so you can counter it effectively.

Just something to note, if you use the “walkthrough walls” cheat to skip the fight of 100, you can’t Jack into the comp. The game won’t let you.
