- I've got a new album coming, and Niobrara is the next single from it. Niobrara is a Ponca & Omaha Indian word translating to "running water," or sometimes "wide water."
Niobrara is a village, a river and a region in northeastern Nebraska. The river itself is an offshoot from the Missouri River, which separates Nebraska from South Dakota. In the last three years, it's become a spiritual thin place for me and I've done quite a bit of my writing there. The area has almost no noise or light pollution and has become a haven for wildlife. Bison still roam the hills and bald eagles hunt the riverbanks while red winged blackbirds fill the summer evening air with their sunset chorus. It's still relatively untouched land. I visited the place as a child, but returning there as a man has been important for me. It's hard to explain exactly why I've been pulled back there - back to Nebraska in general; Niobrara in specific, but I've been following my intuition and it's been beautiful to watch the music flow - like a river. Like running water. And so the entire album will share the name of this song: Niobrara.
Thank you to the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Their help in linguistics and in understanding the history of the land Nebraska lies upon has been the greatest gift to me.

This song is about: when those that left us forever and beyond the possibilities of return.. that come into your night dreams and the next morning you wake up, desperately, oh desperately trying to remember what did they say?! What did they try to communicate?! But you cannot remember. You won't remember and won't make any sense of it no matter how you try. BUT: one thing you will be sure of: there is SOMETHING. Something that is THAT CONNECTION that remains even after they are gone. That will never go away...that will be celestial and pure. I think it's love. In whatever stages of it. It is love. Unspoken, never endless, never dying love... *This is what this song is about*

Beautiful music, Tony. I'm glad to know that quiet, serene areas like this part of Nebraska still exist and haven't become yet another parking lot, strip mall, or overpopulated tourist stop. I appreciate you sharing the music as well as the location.

Where he continues to live, experiencing life through your eyes. He lives there, he watches his faves on TV, he enjoys his hobbies, he sings his songs, all the while alive, in your heart. This song takes me back to my childhood. I see my dad in our back yard with this amazing garden. I rememeber helping him every year tend to that beautiful garden. All these memories are flowing this morning. As if I can smell the lilac trees and I hear the sounds of laughter from my sisters. Take me back.

What a coincidence or should I say synchronicity ?
Then as the day went by I listened to this soundtrack while meditating and I was able to get back to my dream state of consciousness , being aware , relaxed and realized. Fully being present.

Man, I don't know what it is about this piece, but as I was playing it it seemed to practically fly out of my laptop's speakers and absolutely permeate the room. Kinda started to tear up a little. I've played plenty of stuff out of this laptop before, but nothing hit quite like that. Your music is powerful. I love the story behind it, too. Nothing connects us to the Earth more than simply spending time in its beauty.

I love how you finish this one off. The piano notes at the end. There’s a feeling of longing and nostalgia, as well as a bit of melancholy. Not many types of art can bring forward those types of emotions like music can. I love painting, but there’s something about music that just digs deep. Great work man.
