Cannot believe it took me this long to find your channel... I love your reviews, your positive energy, and that awesome shirt lol. Thanks for the content!
This one has been on my "to buy" list for a while. It looks like a fascinating game. I'm iffy on Powered by the Apocalypse. I still haven't actually played in a game using it, which is something I really want to do. Every time I read a rulebook that uses it, I'm left confused about how it would actually work at the table. Thirsty Sword Lesbians was the first one I read where I felt like I mostly understood it and could picture it actually working. I learn better while doing something than reading how to do something, so I'm still reserving my judgement on the system. There's another women-focused WWII RPG called A Cool and Lonely Courage, which is really good. It's about women working for the SOE behind enemy lines in Europe. The basic idea is that your character has been captured, and you draw playing cards and use them to interpret and roleplay what led up to your character's capture, and then, what their ultimate fate will be.
I have not played Night Witches, but have played two other PbtA games. They are strong in the story telling aspect, but depend on good character interaction and GM improvisation. If you like 'crunchy' games, they would be almost the opposite. That said, they have been among my group's all time favorites.
Great review Lexi! I've been eyeing this game for a while, and with your review I've finally decided to give it a try. Now I'll see if my group is interested.
I got to play this with a really phenomenal group where easily the most tense/stressful scenes in any TTRPG I've played took place, though I easily was the least stressed during play lol. As a lesbian myself I ended up being the only one with a focus on the secret relationship and funny enough a character that was otherwise uncaring about social norms or the militant structure, regularly skirting trouble from beating the men stupid enough to talk shit on her or team. Character ended up crashing the plane, dumping the co-pilot out but being stuck in the wreckage behind enemy lines. Co-pilot couldn't pull her out without them both getting captured so handed them a token for her partner, confessing what remained hidden to that point with a, "Promise her I'll make it back." Which is only one amazing moment of so many from that campaign.

PbtA playbooks are usually modular to begin with, so I'm intrigued by the character creation structure here.
What a fascinating concept for a game!
I’m a shoo-in for games that use lesser-known historical topics as the framework for play as well as education.
I like any game that pushes people to try consider perspectives that are different to one’s own.
Now this sounds like a game I need to aquire. Thanks for the review!

This sounds like a cool game around a really neat piece of history!! Thanks for sharing
Nice review! This is a rad game! Definitely one I’m happy to have on my shelf even though I doubt at this point that I will ever play it.
What a cool theme - thanks for sharing!!
Love this game .
I adore this game so much!
great game and great review!
Unfortunately the way lesbian and bisexual women were treated in Russia then is not that far to how things are there now. 😞
