This is where I find mid-drives so much easier and provide a much more versatile ebike. I think the most important ability for any ebike is to be able to carry a 30+Ah battery. Big batteries also have lots of advantages. I look at your videos and I hit the nail on the head... Mr. Fixit indeed. Stay busy and stay safe.
Great video - I am about to change an old Dutch bicycle here as well. However, I did not buy a kit with brake handles. I am wondering why you had to change your brake handles? My bicycle (Batavus) has an in-hub rear brake!
hi Zack Great to hear your changing your bike over, it was the first one i did, thats why i bought a kit, my other bike video's i bought all components seperate. I changed the brakes for safety cut off type that came with the kit, as the bike wasn't for me to use. Also don't know what part of the world your in but it's a legal requirement in uk I make my own cut off switches and attach to the original brakes now. There all in my other video's Good luck with yiour project cheers Kev
Hello Mr. F, That is quite good value for money... I have been thinking about converting a Raleigh Runabout to electric powered... I know there are lots of components I can change to make the whole thing lighter but need to get it to be able to do 40 MPH. This would not be for use on the road but for pacing the youngsters at Portsmouth Velodrome where I coach. Take care Paul,,
hi paul yes very good value for money if compared to buying a manufactured ebike. you probably would need to up the motor wattage to get the speed you suggest also a controller thats not limited to uk road regs, the hub motor i repaired and put on my mountain bike now works out at about 400 watt, and will do about 30 mph on the flat without knobbly tyres on, nice little project for you there paul hope your coping with the isolation period ok regards mr f
hi IM No, just took a break, was going to get it running for last summer, but c19, kept track closed, so i'm in no rush now, caught up with a few other jobs for a change, back on loco after Chrimbo, thanks for interest. regards mr f
