- Rock 'n' Roller Coaster is the indoor Vekoma launch coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This coaster puts riders in supersized limos and is a wild race to an Aerosmith concert. The ride features a solid LSM launch, three inversions, some near-misses, and awesome on-board audio. And it also has the honor as the most intense coaster at Walt Disney World.

The first roller coaster with an inversion I ever rode. Definitely holds a special place in my heart

I have fond memories of this one, it was the first launch coaster I ever went on and the feeling of that launch was just so exhilarating and fun for me when I first rode it. Definitely a ride I prioritize whenever I go to Hollywood Studios.
It was my first launch coaster as well.
This was my first coaster with a launch and inversions when I was 10. I remember my heart pounding so hard watching the trains launch as I got closer to the station. Sure enough the launched scared the shit out of me but the rest of the ride was a blast, and one that has a special place in my heart today.

Unfortunately I doubt we’ll ever see Disney build a roller coaster this intense again. Which is a shame because I would love to see them try another intense roller coaster with amazing theming!
I have a hunch they'll stick more to family coasters.
Never realized how similar the aesthetic of this ride is to Superstar Limo. It makes sense given the late Eisner era

My first indoor looping launch coaster when I was 5 or 6. I only rode the one in Florida. This was another coaster where my parents said it didn’t go upside down

I was kind of amazed. Disney trusts in centripetal acceleration I guess.
The inversions are quick and forceful so bags are safe.
And there’s next to no airtime so they won’t float up either

It's dark, but fun.
Im sick of all the starwars marvel crap. It has consumed the disney parks. Not true disney. It doesnt belong their. Tower of terror is by far my favorite ride at the parks followed by spaceship earth.
Aerosmith was young mes favorite band but even that said I think the theme feels dated. The Tower of Terror better not be touched though it's a masterpiece
Agreed, they need to keep this theme at least to some degree. If they don't want to license Aerosmith they ought to leave the ride as. Leave quite literally everything the same except swap the Aerosmith posters and shoot a similar pre-show with a band which Disney has greater access to the album rights.
I don't mind their IPs if they're done well.
If I rember correctly the coaster uses LSM launch but it's pretty special as it uses a catch car. I assume it's to keep the trains simpler and lighter - they're already quite heavy with the onboard audio. As usual: the clone at Walibi Holland is shorter because it has no onride audio and thus lighter trains.
It is a bit funky, but I couldn't find the full details how it worked.

This ride was a staple of my childhood, and at one point it was probably my favorite ride at WDW (save for that beautiful window of Peak Yeti right after the ride opened). My last reride 2 years ago… knocked it down in my rankings. Still a great ride, but the boomerang-style Vekoma restraints are by far my least favorite coaster restraints. Hope any future updates also bring along some vest restraints.
I find it smooth, so the restraints don't bother me.

Phineas and Ferb built a roller coaster in the very first episode of the series and Disney has done NOTHING with that. If they re-theme it, they should make it themed after that, and make the whole area a “Disney Throwback” themed space to celebrate shows no longer on the air.

I’m headed to Disney World this summer and I’m wondering if the corkscrew at the end is snappy or if it gives hang time. I know you said the corkscrew is disorienting but you didn’t say if it was snappy or gives hangtime in any sort of way. But I know the launch and sea serpent roll will be great.
The corkscrew definitely doesn't give hangtime. It's not super snappy either.
The ride has been down for refurbishment since last month. I hope that it reopens by this summer.
I concur with you on the theming being top tier for a high thrill coaster, especially the queue/loading zone. But I'm definitely on board with a full retheme here, especially since the coaster needs a long refurb - it's down 3-5 months basically every year these days
I would welcome a change if done well.
If they ever get rid of the Aerosmith theme, that will be a very sad day for me. As is, it's my favorite Disney coaster. With any other theme, even if it's well done, it will drop several spots for me personally. If it's a Marvel theme, it will drop a lot!

I think I got a good retheme for the coaster. Retheme it to Finding Nemo, and call it Finding Nemo into the EAC (Eastern Australian Current) Another thought is to retheme it to Big Hero 6 and have it be the final battle and you are Riding on Baymax to save the city. My last Idea, is to retheme it to SugarRush from Wreck it Ralph, and have it be you are helping Venelope race through the game to regain her memory from the end of the Movie. I like the last one best.
I would be intrigued by a Wreck it Ralph coaster. I wish the parks used that IP more.

This is a fun ride but of the Disney coasters I've ridden, I think it's actually my least favorite. The theming in the queue is great, but the simple fluorescent signs in the ride building are kind of cheesy. It is intense enough that it'd be a respectable thrill ride at a Six Flags or Cedar Fair park. (But it probably wouldn't have an hour wait there.)
I agree Disney has some better themed coasters, but they did a fine job with it given the thrills and layout.
I think a disney-related music artist is good enough, like AREA21. I also don't know whether florida still has MARVEL character restrictions (guardians is the only fair game)
Disney can't use any Marvel character currently referenced at Universal.
Do you prefer the RNRR or the Flight of Fear clones?
For me I prefer the launch of premier rides coasters, but don’t like the Flight of Fear rides or other ones I’ve been on (Jokers Jinx) as much because of how rough they are. I prefer the RnRC layout, plus it’s smoother, has better capacity, and has a soundtrack.
They're close for me, I think RnRC has it with a slightly better launch, inversions, and pacing. It definitely meanders but it doesn't feel as aimless as the spaghetti bowls do at points.
I slightly prefer Flight of Fear.

Tbh it needs a new theme, and kinda desperately…. I definitely do not want a “marvel movie” theme though. But yeah Aerosmith is kinda “blah”. Also, let’s hope they put on the new Vekoma MK-1212 vest restraints.
I doubt it gets a Marvel theme due to Universal's license deal.
I love Aerosmith and was obsessed with this ride as a kid. That said, I do think the theming is getting dated and out of place. Definitely open to a retheme but hopefully one which maintains the spirit of the Boulevard, it's one of the only sections of MGM left that still feels like the park's original vision and not just a hodge podge of different sections mashed together.
I expect it to one day get rethemed.
@Canobie Coaster I disagree with u if rocking rollercoaster gets a new theme it should be another rock band that example Metallica if u going to take out the Aerosmith theme switch it to another real rock band not some Disney ip crap
