Interview is tomorrow, just printed out the job description based on your advice, suddenly having a sinking feeling about all my past interviews lol. So glad I stumbled across this. I had naively thought, if I was just myself I'd interview well - NOT !! hahahaha
Very true it reveals patterns, and it’s just few or couple things then understand the industry and their competitors it’s just that the puzzle will come together. I agree read line by line JD.
In preparation for the multiple person round for an AWS position the HR person ,who was in his 50s , strongly recommended not listing any job experience earlier than the late 90s.
I’m sure that your videos are helping people but I am running into a lot of age discrimination. An Amazon recruiter asked me what year I graduated college because she wanted to determine my age. I didn’t answer and ended the interview.
Is it possible they asked because it wasn't listed on the resume? I'm not going to say they aren't potentially discriminating, however, it is common to list where you went to school and what yrs you attended, but it's not an effective method of knowing someone's age. For example I'm nearing 40, but I didn't finish my BS until I was mid 30s -- I've known others who pursued older (esp Masters or Doctoral levels). Long story short, I wouldn't hinder your prospects over it since it seems to be a common question -- Good luck!
Its good to watch these videos just to get into the right mindset / head space.
