    So I have ridden Black Mamba, Ride to Happiness, Kärnan, Fly, Koonda and Zadra - and they all fantastic Coasters.
    I would say Ride to Happiness is my over all number 1, follwed by Zadra as my number 2. Koonda still a top 10 Coaster but hard to rank ( because I usually don't rank ) .
    Black Mamba is clearly the best themed ride with a nice and forceful layout and good pacing.
    Koonda is a total Fun Machin and Zadra has ridiculous Pacing, forces, Airtime... Only topped by Ride to happiness - the first time a ride was too forcful. (After riding 3 times in a row) This thing is just insane. Brutal Airtime, powerful launches, ridiculous Hangtime... Everything.
    Kärnan is an absolute fun Machin but I prefere Flucht von Novgorod when vissiting Hansa Park.. and Fly? Yeah great theming, great launch, Airtime but it feels weird with this lying position 😅

    For me
    Intamin: Hyperion
    B&M: Shambhala
    RMC: Wildfire (Kolmarden)
    Vekoma: F.L.Y
    S&S: Eejanaika (what else would it be from S&S). Hopefully, Do-Dodonpa reopens.

    Mack: Ride to Happiness
    Gerstlauer: Oath of Karnan
    GCI: Mystic Timbers
    Gravity Group: The Voyage
    Morgan: Steel Dragon 2000
    CCI: Legend and Tonnerre deus Zeus
    Maurer: Honestly I don’t know, nothing really screams “bucket list. Hope y’all can give me some recommendations.
    PTC: Phoenix
    Dinn: None

    In house coasters: The Beast

      I've ridden 3 of the ones on your list, The Beast, Voyage and Mystic Timbers.
      The Beast: it was rough but the experience and journey honestly justifies it. Also the night ride is EPIC.
      Voyage: It's long but it can get a bit rough. I believe it got smoothed out though. Still an epic ride.
      Mystic Timbers: An absolute sleeper hit for Kings Island. I absolutely love it.

    Swamp Fox might just be the scariest coaster I’ve ever been on - ridiculous standing airtime the whole ride, so rough that it’s hard to tell what’s airtime and what’s just bumpiness but I love it nevertheless! Back row is so insane but a bit too much - front row us the perfect combo of intensity and comfort

  • @mt_xing
    @mt_xing ปีที่แล้ว +7

    With respect to Steel Dragon 2000, I will say that the final few airtime hills are pretty good. Not quite as intense as Magnum's, but not entirely dissimilar, and with the B&M Clamshell I'd argue they're actually more comfortable and fun (although for some unfathomable reason the park put shin guards on the B&M Clamshells).

    You've gotta make it to Phantasialand...Black Mamba is GREAT! When I went they were still building F.L.Y. so unfortunately I didn't ride that one but Taron is obviously awesome. Even the smaller ones like Colorado Adventure were solid.

    • @thorstenguenther
      @thorstenguenther 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Black Mamba is incredibly smooth in comparison to these old Vekoma SLCs, for my taste it could be a bit longer though, but it is nonetheless a great ride. Taron and F.L.Y. are both smooth, fast and long. Colorado Adventure is a little too shaky in that dark part. Flucht von Novgorod, Schwur des Kärnan and even good old Nessie are great rides. Colossos is still the best coaster at Heide-Park 26 years after it first opened.

    Always good to have a "bucket list" I've ticked off few on mine. I want to see many parks across the 'pond'. Plus some well known landmarks like lunch on the Eiffel Tower. Orient Express was one of them. What a lovely color + name for a coaster.

  • @MattMcIrvin

    I haven't actually ridden that many coasters so I have a lot of bucket-list rides.
    The only RMC I've ever ridden is Wicked Cyclone, and it gobsmacked me, so naturally all the world's other RMCs are at the top, but there's something special about how Hakugei looks that makes me crave that one the most.
    Aside from that: There are a lot of somewhat older rides people rave about that I've been curious about since forever. Expedition GeForce, Olympia Looping, Alpengeist, Phoenix. I almost want to ride those more than a lot of the newer ones.

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, yeah, and I really want to ride Knoebels' Twister sometime just because Mr. Twister was my first big coaster and terrified the living bejesus out of me.

    • @rideexpedition
      @rideexpedition ปีที่แล้ว

      Expedition Geforce is 100% the worlds most overrated coaster.
      It's got good airtime, nothing to rave about though. The back row is rough/jolty as anything and its not really that forcefull (considering it has 'Geforce' in its name.)
      There are far better Coasters in Germany, also from Intamin. It's a good ride but nothing compared to what people make it out to be and it's a real big disappointment

    I thought about this a few days back. Some of these picks were tough for me, but I went this this:
    Arrow Dynamics: Loch Ness Monster
    B&M: Fury 325
    Chance Rides: Lightning Run
    CCI: Shivering Timbers
    Dinn: Thunder Run
    E&F Miler: Prairie Screamer
    Gertslauer: Der Schwur des Kärnan
    Gravity Group: The Voyage
    GCI: Wodan Timbur Coaster
    Hopkins: Texas Tornado
    Intamin: Intimidator 305
    Jinma Rides: Any of their tilt coasters
    Mack Rides: DC Rivals Hypercoaster
    Maurer Rides: Abismo
    Morgan: Phantom’s Revenge
    PTC: Phoenix
    Premier Rides: Ice Breaker
    RMC: Wildfire
    S&S Sansei: Do-Dodonpa
    Schwarzkopf: Olympia Looping
    Togo: Bandit
    Vekoma: F.L.Y.
    Zamperla: Thunderbolt
    Zierer: Verbolten

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *sigh* I was going to ride Abismo when I visited Madrid a few years ago, but there was a historic, deadly heat wave going on and being outdoors for any length of time would have been a difficult proposition.
      Loch Ness Monster was my first looper ever, and I loved it, but it's been so long, I don't know if it holds up. Going back and riding it again is kind of a bucket-list thing for me, along with most of the other coasters at BGW that went up after the last time I was there.

  • @bjornvandenbremt1717
    @bjornvandenbremt1717 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great picks overall. 😉
    I've ridden quite a few of these (original Dodonpa, Fujuyama, Dawson Duel, Ride to happiness, FLY, Kondaa, Wood Coaster, Steel Dragon 2000, Tonerre 2 Zeus, Lisebergbanan).
    You will thoroughly enjoy Lisebergbanan, great fun family coaster and 3rd best coaster at this awesome park.
    Concerning the Japanese coasters, Dodonpa does try to rip your face off at launch. I rode rhe OG version with the top hat and besides extreme airtime at the top, it did give a whiplash at the bottom of the top hat. Still a solid ride though. Fujuyama was by far the superior coaster over SD 2000. Better pacing and layout.
    Wood Coaster is easily accessible from Shenzhen, so if you're there, hop on the bus which drops you off at the entrance gate of the resort.
    For the Belgian coasters: Ride to happiness is a very good one and I like it better than Kondaa because it gives you a different ride every time. So if Kondaa might be a top 10 for you, Ride to happiness will certainly will be. Unless you prefer airtime over launches and inversions. If you're at the park, be sure to ride Kondaa in the afternoon and the back left seat. Goes much faster when it's warmed up.
    Dawson Duel, I wouldn't expect much. It's a gimmick for sure, but I think they have build far better products. Bellewaerde does have a unique topple tower, if you're into flat rides.
    FLY is amazing, as is Phantasialand itself. Top 3 park in Europe. If you can, stay at the Charles Lindbergh hotel. Expensive, but worth it.
    And last but not least T2Z. Rode it 2 weeks ago and man, did they do an amazing job with the retrack. Way better coaster than before. Went from a 'meh' to 'wow' 😮. Especially that backwards car is simply nuts. It's also less shakey than the forward facing cars.
    Hopefully you get the chance to ride some of these. The European coasters should be doable in 1 trip if you start in France or Poland.

    I agree with the below Nemesis isnt really a forces ride but its so low down and the turns are tight you think you can be dunked into the caverns is the big thing from it. Im lucky enough to have done anaconda and yeah its a weird but fun one. As I said I wish that Giovanola had survived because Anaconda clones instead of the SLS would have been far better for all our health.

    South Carolinian here! Swamp Fox is the only one of these I have gotten the chance to ride, and though it was some odd years ago, I do remember the airtime not being something to sneeze at. Not one of my tops by any means, but it’s not a boring ride, for sure. It doesn’t stand out in my brain as being particularly rough, either, but it’s been a number of years, so I can’t speak for it now.

    For Weigand you should have the Wisp Resort alpine coaster in Maryland on your list. That thing is CRAZY! It has no speed limit like a lot of alpine coasters do, and it has strong enough airtime and laterals that you might question if that seat belt will hold, so it can get pretty crazy. As an untravelled west-european, I have to say you have probably not only picked the best of each manufacturer but also the best our region has to offer.
    Black mamba aged like fine wine. Fly is good but the main thing that lifts it above even more is the setting and attention to detail that Phantasialand is known for and of course the novelty of a launched flying coaster. Konda is just awesome and how a family oriented park built something like Ride to happiness still blows my mind.
    haven't ridden Dawson Duel yet but for what I've ridden from Wiegand I prefer their water slides over anything else they offer

    I've been lucky enough to do Black Mamba, as well as Nemesis being at my home park, and I've got to say it was slightly disappointing in the forces department but the setting and theming alone makes it incredible!

    Great topic! Pretty good list!! I noticed you mentioned “if it’s not even a good ride” about Black Mamba. Yes, the setting is damn cool, BUT… the last 3rd of the ride is B&M (Boring and Mundane)! For Magnus Colossus - it has some incredible views, one of the best that I have ever seen! Death IS a viable option. Hint - take the Advil BEFORE riding!! As for Togo coasters - in the USA, they were all pretty much trash. But, in Japan, they are all pretty good, and Fujiyama is no exception. (And YES, Dodonpa (now Do-dodonpa) feels like your taking a sledgehammer to the chest - but it is so worth it!!

    I've been on three on your lists. I feel like Steel Dragon gets way more hate than it should. I've been on over 550 different coasters and it's enjoyable enough for me I have it in my top 10. If you like tall and fast, you'll like it. Dodonpa was excellent. A true one trick pony, but it was one heck of a trick. I got to ride it while it still had the top hat. It wasn't uncomfortable to me in the slightest and certainly not painful. It's intense, no doubt. Most intense sensation I've ever felt on a coaster. Finally, Fujiyama, it did nothing to improve my view on Togo coasters. It's just uncomfortable. I was optimistic before it, but it's a completely forgettable experience for what it is, especially in a park that features Eejenaika, Takabisha, and Dodonpa, which are all vastly superior.

    I missed Dragon Mountain by only a couple inches. We traveled up to Canada in ‘83 and hit up Niagara Falls, Clifton Hill and Marineland. I was the most excited to ride but when I was measured at the ride’s entrance, I was too short. Perhaps a little karma back at me as I got my first ride on The Runaway Train on my toes. My mom panicked before the train was dispatched, pulling both my sister and my dad with her. Only my grandfather would ride. The next year I got on both Rolling Thunder and Big Thunder Mountain the honest away, but I never braved up to Lightnin’ Loops. It would take until ‘91 when I would get on Lockness Monster.

    • @sitarad_
      @sitarad_ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AirtimeThrills It is still pretty rough indeed, even more so in the back, sadly. The parts that GG retracked are a lot smoother though, but still pretty shaky overall. I came out having had fun but my back kinda hurt . Also there's surprisingly no specific line for the back row, in the station the operators just ask people whether or not they want to tride backwards and place them there. It's not that popular with the GP weirdly enough, I've seen it run with no one in the back car many times!
      Toutatis is the real scene stealer at the park now

  • @Soonjai

    Great list, but as someone who has ridden Dawson Duel, I would highly recommend to kick it off your Wiegand Bucket List and replace it by Trapper Slider at Fort Fun in Germany.
    Reason being that setting aside, Dawson Duel is just a boring ride, while Trapper Slider is borderline a genuine Thrill ride with a fast layout, quick drops and double down every chance it get´s, has a sextuple down (aka 6 mini drops in a row) that makes it hard to keep your legs in the cart and all that in a dense hillside forest. As a Bonus, it has one of the most bonkers night rides out there, during their really good Halloween Event you can experience Trapper Slider in Pitch Black darkness, and riding a Alpine Coaster with so many quick drops that you can´t see coming is youst insane.
    As for Jinma, I would probably want to try one of their Dive Coasters the most, I imagine the first drop in the 4th row is probably somewhat insane in on them.

    Black mamba and Nemesis are top tier (with a slight preference for nemesis on my side, because of its sheer intensity) but if you're coming to Europe soon you'll be surprised by O'ziris at Parc Asterix. Probably one of the best inverts in the world. It's so surprisingly great, it looks like a standard mid size invert but because of very specific tiny design details on the course it just SLAPS.
    Oh and Volare is pronounced "vo-lah-ray"! (Like the song)

    You speak of Japan as this far-away land. But it's very accessible. Easy to get to, easy to get around. To FujiQ there's a direct bus from Tokyo. For Nagashima, there's a train to Nagoya from Tokyo every 5 minutes. Then a bus. I've been multiple times and would highly recommend coasters in Japan. Just be ready for more security theater.
