There is a freshman in my Hich School (who is like, 5'4 ish) who in the 100y fly, went a 23.89 first split and a 27.81 second split for a grand total time of 51.70 seconds in a sectionals meet. In a dual meet, he went a 54.79, first split 25.17, second split 29.62.
100% feel free to ignore this. I was just wondering if maybe sometimes a tiny bit more context could be added to times and stuff, especially when in yards. I really like to get the rundown on times/meets put into context…because I was an ex swimmer who was never very good and really for a long time only got to watch it during olympics and world championships. It’s still hard to navigate where to watch stuff, and then some are behind a serious paywall. I find I have to look up info a lot to put these videos in context which is fine but sometimes hard to find simply because it’s kind of niche to know where to look in the first place. It’s entirely possible this content is just sort of above my pay grade so to speak which is fine, I just thought that maybe I would mention on the off chance that maybe it was something you hadn’t thought about yet. I mean no disrespect whatsoever. I’m off to look up what 100 backstroke times are like/what’s record/previous personal best hehe
Perfectly fair and honestly really appreciated feedback as I’m always looking for ways to make my commentary better for the 1% fan as well as more casual fans who could become 1% fans eventually. I will absolutely keep this in mind moving forward. Thanks for watching the videos 🙏
@@Sockwell thanks :) I know it can be crazy difficult to even try to find a balance that isn’t giving too much info that it’s dumbing it down for those in the know. I honestly understood this video so much more than some others because you did a great job explaining showing the records/personal bests for all the freestyle portion, it was only the backstroke portion I needed to look up
I think flip turning is like .4 or .5 because it's not like your getting to the wall and then turning, instead you are turning into the wall, so it can't be that much slower
@@SovietYugoslavhas walsh gone 15:01 in a 1650? Has she also been to 5+ world and like 3 soon to be 4 Olympics? Does Gretchen walsh Own any actual world records? No. 😹😹😹
Does her 200 suggest she may have the strength/speed endurance to translate this to LCM? Her skills are so tailored to SCY feel like despite her brilliance, she’s still going to struggle to translate her achievements here to LCM at the same level KD has been able to.
Why do people think being delusional is the only way to be a fan? She’s not winning the 50 or 100 free. She may have a chance in the fly but her ceiling outside of the relays is getting 1 minor medal.
@@Ineddiblehulk how is she not winning the 50 100 free. She just broke 20 seconds in the 50 free, first woman to do so. She’s the fastest woman in history
Because it’s SCY and the Olympics is LCM - her skills are her underwaters. In SCY that makes up 60% of a 100, in LCM it’s 30%. She’s not done anything in LCM that puts her in contention for gold ahead of MOC, McKeon, Haughhey or Steenbergen. And in the 50 she’s not getting near Sjostrom.
I would compare Gretchen Walsh’s performance to Kyle’s performance as a commentator at Big 12s
The ⚠️ symbol says “Suspicious time” when I hover over it 😂
When Kyle post it makes me so happy I have been watching for a year, and this is my favorite TH-camr rn
WE WANT SWIMCLOUD ROASTS
"Having you first child" 😂 Also would say to the feet is at least .5 slower, wouldn't go as far as .7 but prob .6
Please hammer the college content! This is the most exciting time of the year!
Heard you on ESPN plus yesterday! Fantastic job Sockwell! Your commentary was awesome
Love the posts! Would seriously enjoy live reactions to races though, it'd be so fun!!
Kyle should commentate at ncaas

Swimming isn't a sport. It's a way to keep him drowning.

Can you cover the ongoing issue for New Jersey states swimming as they just cut their B final? I’m curious to see what you think about it
Atlantic Coast Conference swimming is going to be awesome when the two Pacific Coast schools become members.

Gretchen: greatest female swimmer of all time
Go watch a Katie Ledecky race then try again

Bro she’s gonna win the 50-100 free and the 100 fly at the Olympics, I don’t wanna hear it she’s the GOAT

If Gretchen leads off the 200 medley relay at NCAAs I think she goes 22.08 for the 50 back if she does fly then she splits 20.91 🫨
She led off the 200 Medley and went 22.10! .02 off what I thought
