  • Marty Worm and Alan from Let's Talk Metal have returned with our weekly (almost) stream, this time under the new name, "Heavy Metallurgy"! This week we will be joined by Eric Bauer to discuss non-metal bands/albums that would likely appeal to the headbanger in all of us.
If you have never checked out Eric's Channel, go here:

Glad to see Siouxsie and Sisters of Mercy shown, I've personally been spinning "First and Last and Always" a lot lately. I've actually been listening to a lot of not-metal music as of late: Kate Bush's "Hounds of Love"; that first Enigma album; Clan of Xymox's self-titled album; The Pierces (folk/indie pop). Something that I think more people should listen to if they're willing to dip their toes in some not-trashy European pop music, "Mini World" by Indila is great -- folky French pop with some classical crossover tendencies, it's dramatic as shit.

Thanks for the recommendation! And as the years go on, I find myself spinning first and last and always the most out of their catalog. Flood land rules, but it’s pretty repetitious. First and Last… just feels more “assembled” and band like. Thanks for watching!

@@HeavyMetallurgy Another cool discussion you guys could have, is on non-metal bands that were influential to metal bands. I find that DeadCanDance is definitely one!

Gary Moore wasn't on Thunder and Lightning. John Sykes ex Tygers of Pan Tang etc was the name you were looking for.

There's tons in my collection: classical music, 70`s rnb/soul/funk, jazz fusion, 70's progressive rock, triphop, 'krautrock', punk and hardcore punk, new wave, post-punk and goth etc.
For me there's only 2 genres of musical/artistic expression. The good and the bad xD.
P.S. Script of the Bridge by The Chameleons is in my top 5 favorite albums of all time. Simply majestic.

Thanks for watching!! I think any collector or fan of MISIC has to surround themself with a diverse catalog to fit every mood this life throws at us.

In the 90s-00s I noticed a lot of metal fans also liked the Tori Amos albums of the era. Can't explain it but I am also a fan.

Had a big Tori phase, there is some definite crossover appeal and she did a pretty wicked Raining Blood....
