  • Is the Panasonic Lumix G95 still worth buying in 2023?
    Short Answer: Yes.
Eyy. So this is my short review of the Lumix G95. It's my first ever mirrorless camera. Please let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions or questions. Thank you!

Thank you! I didn't catch that, i thought I described it as 4k capable up to 30fps.

I purchased a used G85 a few years ago and I had enjoyed it very much. So easy to use and a high magnification EVF for its segment range. All other manufacturers offer a smaller EVF at the price segment when first released. And today for 700$ it’s a steal with weather resistance, ibis and a great kit lens. I am considering the G95, sadly micro 4/3 gear isn’t available in my country. Have to wait for someone coming from abroad.
People always criticised the autofocus system of Panasonic for not having phase detection. For video it might be and issue. But for photo no issue at all. Sure you might see some wobbling while the camera is focusing, but by magic what you want is always in focus. Shot birds in flight with the G85 and no issues.
    Great concise and informative video!

    Timestamp 1:05 - G95 4k can only do up to 30fps.
I apologize for the big error everyone. Thank you to @lifevisualsphotography for correcting me.

The g95 is a great value my favorite lens for low light photography is the Samyang 12mm F2 manual focus lens. Ive used that when shooting buildings/lights at night. Also the lens size is amazing and if you travel you will see the immediate advantages. I've had the gx85, gx9, g95, g9. The g95 was my favorite because of its size. I liked the g9 too however I always grabbed my g95 instead. That 14mm panasonic lens is a huge winner too for its size and weight. I imagine soon PDAF will come to the m43 side of panasonic. I've never had any focusing issues in photos. Once you figure out a few video tricks its not bad especially for the price and it even has in body image stablization. Ive been looking at the new leica branded 12-35 2.8 lens that just came out too, Compare the 35-100 (70-200 equiv) on full frame and you see a HUGE difference. I'm picking a g95 up for street photography.

Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge regarding the camera! I agree with the G95 being the most accessible but very valuable mirrorless out there. You're right with the pdaf the only thing that's missing, and I'd add the joystick. but with the g95's price, I can't really complain.
I appreciate the lens suggestions. Will look into those for sure. Thank you again.
If you ever have m43 lens you wanna get rid of I can always send you my address. Lol jk.
Thanks for checking out my video! 🙌🏼

Yes. As is the G85, GH5, G9, OMD Em1-Mk2, OMD EM5-Mk3. All of these can be had for around $600 or less for the body on EBay and are absolutely incredible.

Thanks for sharing! I think people over emphasize the autofocus problem due to older Lumix cameras having greater AF issues. The G95, GH5m2, and S5 generation of AF is about as good as it gets for CDAF system in my opinion. That said CDAF has certain weaknesses like low light/contrast situations and low frame rate for video. The new PDAF hybrid system in S5II solved that problem.
I think the G95 makes for great entry level 4k video/stills/vlogging camera.

Thanks for checking the video out! 😊 and yes, I'd even say the prime lenses are better cause most of them have wide apertures. So they let in more light and shallower dof and better bokeh. 😁 I'm only using the kit lens and the 40-150mm f4-5.6 Olympus. and so far it fits all my photography/vid needs as a hobbyist. 😊
Also looking to get the Lumix 25mm f1.7 once I get the budget for it. Hope it works out for you! 😁

No, but G9 is. Now that g9 costs 550 usd it is one of the most cost effective camera!

    • @macbuang07

Great point. Value wise G9 is the best m43 atm. But for recording non stop, the G95 has that edge against the G9.
If i remember right the G9 can record up to 30min at a time.

Hey man cool info thanks waht about the pohoto quality lumix cameras are well know to get you washed out photos another issues is to record 4k lumix cameras doenst work well with regulard sd cards i mean you have to get expensive sd cards

No concern with any kind of memory card on this camera with recording 4k. And i don't think the photos are washed out at all. I have a Sony A6000 with the 18-105 G lens but I prefer my g95s colors and contrast. The A6000s hybrid c/pdaf is noticeably better than my g95s contrast AF though.

Low key don’t buy this camera, if you live in a place you can pick up a used a7 for cheaper, like I did and it was just a waste, not like it’s bad just limiting

    • @macbuang07
      @macbuang07  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the comment! 😁
I doubt you'd find a used a7 for cheaper than a brandnew g95. You might but it'd prob just be the body. You also have to consider the E mount lenses are not too budget friendly. But I appreciate your point of view. For someone aiming to go full frame right away, what you're suggesting might make perfect sense. 😊

No it's not worth in 2023. It's small sensor, no phase detection, only contrast hunting focus in video. no bsi-cmos.
