Going to be doing exactly this with pennytile and Flofx. Thanks for the video and mentioning the size spacer you used 👍🏻

If you already put the spacer in and the square plastic top that receieves the grate, how do you remove it? I need to go with thicker tile and add extra spacer under. Do I need a new drain kit or do I try and chisel it out and hope it won't break?

Did you add thin set to the spacers? I've seen tile coach add a bunch of thin set, which to me looks like it blocks drainage from the waterproofing membrane, water has to come up to the top of the drain.... Do the spacers need to be thin set or can they be left loose? Or it has to be thin set to add grout at the edge of the tray? I can't tell because you skipped that part 😭😭😭😭

Flo fx is a great drain system. The blue shower looks sharp. Nice video!!

What's up what part of town you install at. I'm a tile installer here in Texas. Installer here man can't do nothing right. No waterproofing or nothing. But you do everything text book by code good stuff.

What size trowel did you use for the penny tiles?

I rent and they just had the shower retiled because it was old and had two big cracks. The floor they did has the drain too high and a low spot ring about 1 ft around the drain where water sits. Is there any fix you can direct me to? I’m so frustrated.

How are you finishing the tile edge next to the floor grate. Are you leaving a dry gap between the tile and grate. Are you grouting up to the grate. Are you siliconing the gap between the grate and tile. I'm assuming you want the grate removable, there are no screws to tighten it and I would imagine the grate can wiggle when stepping on it. So how are you finishing the gap?

The black part is a grate carrier and you grout up to it, the green cover gets removed and replaced with the actual grate. Grate is popped into place snug and can be removed using some type of “hook” tools or such

thank you for video. How do you secure the spacers to the drain? thin set, silicone? Thanks in advance

I add thin set first then embed the spacers into it, making sure the thin set comes through the "holes" all the way up, same thing for the grate carrier, it has "holes" under that need once thin set come through and dries is what holds it in place
