I’m So Glad Meadow was rescued! Feel bad for her family not knowing that she’s is safe and will be back soon! Mom & Dad & Sis will miss her very much! Thank You W.O.W. & E.C. For your Love of Eagles! 🦅🦅🐥🐥💞💓💓
So happy meadow was rescued! Thank you for the info and thank you to all the volunteers who helped in the rescue. Now meadow can be evaluated and fed/taken care of until meadow is ready to fly and be back with his/her family. ❤❤❤
She cannot be put back in with nest. She is to old for one and she's pretty down, very thin. The rehab will keep her first night and then she goes to the vets where she will be fed and so on.
Good job!! Thank you for veering just a little bit off your ‘no intervention’ goal and assisting in this unique situation. You’ve won many many friends today!!
I couldn’t sleep last night thinking about Meadow 🦅 but then I saw this update moments ago. My prayers were answered! 🙏🏼🫶🏼THANK YOU for all involved in saving Meadow! My heart is filled with joy and gratitude! ❤
This rescue was needed and I am appreciative that there are organizations that can do this kind of rescue. Thank you. And thank you for your information 😊
I hate that she fell to the ground but grateful she’s finally going to get the help she needs! The poor baby hasn’t eaten and even tho it’s Florida she hasn’t had anyone to even snuggle with to keep warm or anything 😢😢😢I’m praying for a fast return after she’s evaluated 🙏🙏🦅🤍🤎
Wow, this poor baby! 2 traumas in one week but as eagle's do, she is remaining strong! She tried so hard to get back to the nest, I believe we have not heard the last of this strong, magnificent eaglet! God is watching over her!
I’m also glad Meadow ended up slipping before it got to the point where s/he didn’t have the strength to use its wings ( as gliders)at all to make a safe landing.
Happy Meadow was rescued and will receive excellent care as it sounds like the baby needed some TLC. Thanks for your video and update, I’ve been worried about her!
So happy for the rescue. Hope the baby will soon be 100% again and can go back to reunion with family....hope they will accept it back and not think is an intruder
There are a few reasons, but the biggest one is Swampy. At Swampy's age, such an action could result in Swampy panicking and falling out of the nest as well. I think they attempt to avoid that risk if it is at all possible, saving it for when there is simply no other choice. Since Meadow is pretty near fledging time, it probably seems less risky to keep Meadow safe until fledging time, and hopefully release him/her back at the nest then for a family reunion. :)
Poor thing! Meadow's situation reminds me of that movie, Legend of the Guardians. I know that was owls, but no bird should be on the ground before being fully fledged. Thank you so much for the video update. Is there any other source to follow Meadow's progress?
I just ran into your site here. Gosh a lot of excitment. Where is this? Thanks! And from reading all your messages, I'm assuming the vid that I see is from early this morning, right? Breaks my heart.
Welcome! This is from the Eagle Country nest in SE Florida. This situation did occur this morning, yes. Definitely could have been much worse, so overall this is a pretty lucky eaglet. Hopefully the powers that be can get him/her ship-shape and back to the nesting area around fledge time!
I'm hopeful that s/he'll be able to be released, near the nest, around fledge time. S/he didn't appear injured, so I think this will have a happy ending. Awaiting updates!
I strongly suspect s/he'll be released at the nesting site at fledge time. Hoping that no injuries will be found and release will be confirmed sooner than later. Meadow looked perfectly fine while hopping around on the ground though, so I feel good about this.
I’m not happy on how this was handled when he first fall from tree. USFW needs to make some major adjustments on guidelines for intervention. There is no way the other one is ready to fled yet & Meadows could have been placed back in nest. Start thinking outside the box. Plus Meadows needs nutrition as he’s getting dehydrated. You could see the parents were trying to entice with food to fly back up to the nest but could not.
Medow looks fine sitting on log on ground. Chirping, feather preening(another V Post) and at very least, some ligament strain in lower rt leg/ankle when she fell from Tree branch last nite--a fairly large drop i'm told by a EC Mod on the Nest site. But in this video, near the end, She was able to 'Push Oll" on a flight Hop to the ground among several plants there, Which indicates fairly good use of both legs and wing involvement to some extent. I would be very happy seeing her go thru such a 2 day dramatic fall event and ending up on the Ground with no predators around. Can't be returned to this Nest as of danger of other Eaglet might try an early fledge upon hearing ground Crew approach the nest on foot or in a Bucket truck. Happy days ahead for this Nestling Eagle.
S/he did appear to be moving around very well, so I'm hopeful we'll get a "no injuries" confirmation update soon. Would love to see Meadow able to be released at the nest near fledging time for a family reunion!
@@WingsOfWhimsy I don't know it you saw but Meadow was transferred to Raptor Center of tampa bay after the rescue group that picked her up found she was very malnourished for an 8 wk old Eaglet. All future comm will come from there. The raptor center notes in a report she can't be put back into the Nest but may be released back into the Area in time. That first group that picked her up and found how malnourished she was, did not comment on any injuries, so might be she is Essentially uninjured--just malnourished. I asked on the nest chat about bodies of water and there is a big River and atleast one lake around , s she is should be getting plenty of fish(omega 3 fatty acids) , one of the nutrients she is getting in her new diet to recover her from malnutirition on the nest. So i don't know anything about her poor nutrition condition--except to note that fledged eagles aren't examined by wildlife centers just before they fledge--so not sure how many Y Eagles are in that condition in wild nests.
I would guess he/she was “very very thin” due to its sibling dominance over food resources for weeks. Then all that time on the branch, w Several hours attempting to get back up to the nest. I didn’t like the way it was handled either. Clearly it was incapable of rescuing itself.
Why isn’t she left alone and let her parents feed her?? No rescue was called for the bird fell. That is not a man-made problem. That’s a bird made problem. She either survives, or she becomes prey. Which feed some other animal family. Isn’t that what all of you talk about? The circle of life? The ways of nature? I love how you bird people just decide which eaglets or whomever you’re going to save and which ones you’re going to allow to simply die. Love the hypocrisy.

Aww, poor sweet baby. Thankful (s)he has been rescued from the ground.
It was interesting that the eaglet kept looking up, like it knew it needed to be up off the ground
Thank u angels❤❤
Thank you for her rescue. ❤️❤️❤️🙏
Meadow will be able to have a great life thanks for all you do❤
Thank you for stepping up. There was no reason to watch this fledging die. We aren't in the wilderness where help is unavailable.
Thank you so very much to everyone that helped rescue sweet Meadow. Pray she will be ready to fly home soon
Sending love ❤️
Ty all! Meadow's rescue was the best for Meadow ❤❤
🎉 yeahhy🎉 to know that update is the best 🎉 scenario !👍🧡👍👏 awe well done teams!

Hope they can get Meadiw reunited asap with patent to continue growing up wild!
Thankful for this outcome ❤
Why it is not possible to renested Meadow? Thanks for answer and respectful greetings from Germany.

Oh my sweetie 😢 hungry and miss her restroom heartbreaking until come back to the nest 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you
Thank goodness!!
can't wait to see the rescue which I'm sure will be filmed
They apparently did not film. I think it was a quick action with little planning really allowed and few people involved.
So happy meadow is alright scary situation
Yesss!!❤
Rescue crew I know of your policy, but in this case your intervention is needed. Meadow needs human help.
Raptor Center of Tampa Bay has rescued Meadow!
Sorry, kind of new….what would the risk to Swampy be that Meadow couldn’t be returned to nest??
At the age they are at, there is a high potential for Swampy panicking and jumping/falling from the nest if humans approach it to renest Meadow. :(

If you use Facebook, I'd suggest following Raptor Center of Tampa Bay and Audubon Center for Birds of Prey for the latest updates.

Didn't see any rescue crew. Is the eagle back in the nest?
I’m wondering too! I only see her struggling to get to the nest
Raptor Center of Tampa Bay came to the rescue. Not on video, but there was a photo update & more updates to come! Meadow is in wonderful hands.

Sarasota County, Florida
New here. How old is meadow ?
