A good solution for the language change is to just create a new account specifically in your target language and use it for bard. That’s what I just did and I’m going to see how it suffices
Another use for Bard is parallel translations. You can feed in a text in your L2 and ask it to translate in table form, with the 1st column for L1 and the 2nd for L2. I ask for a new row per sentence. At present its concept of a sentence is sketchy, so I tell it to break on stops, commas and question marks. If it's a dialog which shows the names of the speakers as in a play, tell it the names and ask Bard to list them in a 3rd column on the LHS. Then you can click a button at the bottom of the table to upload directly to Google Sheets, or copy and paste to any spreadsheet or word processor. Very handy - saves a huge amount of faff.
Hi, Spanish speaker here. I've been watching a lot of videos about this topic, and yours are the best by far. Pretty good advice, and the editing is great. New subscriber.
The optimal interaction scenario would be an interactive verbal conversation with subtitles in the language with the AI correcting you grammer dynamically, including diction and providing suggestions. . If we get there, let me know, because that is comparable to speaking with a native and the level I need to completely self teach.
I fully agree with you-Bard isn’t quite there yet, but ChatGPT can do what you described, and I showed this off in the ChatGPT Voice video. You might find some useful tips there: th-cam.com/video/_J6e0JHl3C4/w-d-xo.html
Well, as a person living In a foreign country and having to learn a language...what would help a lot more is if Google took the 15second limit off the live translation app. You can't follow a conversation when you have to start again every 15seconds. It's all I need. It would be vastly more useful than what's offered here, and also Google don't get fed my documents which I really don't trust.
So. I have now tried for 10 minutes to make Bard have a conversation where it answers me in 1 sentence, plus a question back. And it tells me "Yes I can do that" and then does NOT do any of those things. I cant make Bard understand it even tho Bard repeatedly tells me it can do that.
I speak both English and Japanese. I tried Japanese chat with Google Bard. The sentences were mostly fine, but very formal. This is not how you would talk with friends. I tried to get it to speak more colloquially but it didn't last very long. This is quite limited in usefulness in my opinion.
Nooo 🥲 You could try asking Bard to be more casual and see how it performs. Try copying my first prompt and changing it to “casual conversation” or “informal conversation between friends” and see if that helps. If not, I’d recommend checking out the ChatGPT Voice video instead: th-cam.com/video/_J6e0JHl3C4/w-d-xo.html
I'm always seeing that AI in general tends to have a problem with Japanese, either it talks to you like a robot (outrageous, right?) or the sentences end up being filled with errors.
I tested with ChatGPT and it has worked for me so far, you have to be very specific, like when they write "masu" or "desu" conjugations, tell it to not use them and just write in casual form.
An intersting thing is that bard can build a lesson over any topic. So, if you want to learn better a specific topic, like the use of some kind of verb, you can ask it to make a lesson about it.
Can't wait for Bard to be integrated into Google Assistant soon 🔥I used Google lens to buy Korean skincare and be able to read the entire description at the back in English even though it's originally in Korean 😅

Interesante video amigo. Hey y qué bien hablas el español. Se te escucha bien natural. Mira, lo que no me gustó de Bard es que no te da ideas de qué contestar cuando no sabes cómo continuar la conversación.
Too bad, I started to learn the German sign language. But maybe some day an AI will support this as well. Fun fact about Bard: Few weeks ago I "explored" Bard, I asked him who is the oldest human whose name is known. Bard said it's Ötzi and that he lived about 3200 bc (Bard said an actual year). But Ötzi is not this guys real name, it was given to him today by us. So I told him that and asked him again the same question. Bard answered a name I don't remember anymore and a date around 2000 bc. So I asked him if there is't a known name of a pharaoh. Then Bard finally told me about a pharaoh who lived over 4000 years bc. I don't know if he is the oldest human whose name is known but Bard doesn't know it as well, I guess. :)
Interesting! I look forward to connecting this to augmented reality headsets, so I can speak something in English, then have the system play back a translation in my ear, which I then speak. It will be possible to have a real time conversation with a real person, although with a delay time factor. These back and forth spoken statements are then recorded, so that I can return at the end of the day to review what I have learned. Learning a language will become five times easier.

I found Bard quite limited, to be honest. I tried to have mixed conversations with him (in two languages at the same time), but it didn't fly. During the chat Bard would keep providing me with English translations in brackets, even when I directly asked him to stop. He apologised, promised to be a good boy, and then did the same thing once again. I gave up afer 45 minutes, he kept apologising but couldn't follow my instructions.

AI is so powerful, it’s almost like if we were able to add up all of human knowledge into one person, the applications are endless. I do worry that it could incentivizes not critically thinking, or learning how things work, because you can just use your personal AI, similar to how I feel the internet has affected me but worse. Also it should be called an intelligence emulator, not artificial intelligence, as it is incapable of creating something completely original, it can only copy and morph things that it has gotten form other humans, the name AI is a bit misleading and probably just used to create hype and get investors.
Thank you so much for this video. But I am wondering which AI I should use for language learning. In your channel there are 3 AI you introduced. Which one should I use
They are all language models. So either one will be fine. Thats literally what they do best. Languages. Chat GPT or Bard. You will not notice a difference. Only if you ask about stuff in the news or politics and such. Then Bard will go on the net and read the latest news, while Chat GPT will not.
i'm confused....you have to click the microphone to speak to Bard and then it responds in text not verbal speech....why is this TH-camr saying that you can talk in real time to Bard ?
Interesting that Bard blows Translate out of the water but I am curious if Bard is better than ChatGPT-4 since I’m subscribed to the latter to talk to some relatives in the Philippines and told me that it’s near perfect.
I appreciate the heads up! 🙏🏽 Does it help when I add subtitle files for these videos, or does the music really make these unwatchable for part of the community?
Quick heads up, make sure you change the language in Settings like I showed in the video. The whole interface should change to Russian if you do it right
Do you mention that you cant 'talk' to it. You have to talk to text then also click the speaker to hear it. Not a fluent conversation like u present. Its ok tho
it is way worse than ChatGPT, I tried to optimize couple of python functions for faster run with Bard and ChatGPT. Bard is not even giving a runnable one when ChatGPT is making a lot faster.
The video starts off if you type this prompt but you don't put with this you don't say what this prompt is and you can't read it on your phone , critical information..so I'm done.
Hey friend, my apologies if there were parts that were hard to follow. I try to read every comment to improve these videos bit by bit, so I’ll try and see if I can make these even easier to follow for people that are trying to copy the prompts. For now I’d recommend pausing the video to copy any prompt you’re interested in if they didn’t stay on screen long enough. I’ll also see if I can copy some of these prompts into the video description a little later today. Hope this helps and cheers 🙏🏽
It should be (although my Japanese isn’t good, so I didn’t test it there). I showed all the languages that are currently supported later in the video 🙌🏽
This is useful but ai is so freaky. It would be nice if we just stayed here. Because advancing further seems extreme. Will it soon be indistinguishable from talking to a real human?
I’ve tried it in Japanese and it’s atrocious. The number of mistakes it silently makes is far too frequent. If one were to learn Japanese as it teaches, one would end up sounding like an AI agent with a bad translator.
your videos need to be a bit more detailed - can you do a to do guide on how to add the voice feature - your videos are showcasing good stuff but not detailing how to do it step by step
Bard is absolutely terrible. By far the worst of the “big” language models. I always laugh at these BARD DESTROYS (INSERT WHATEVER). That’s like giving a 3 year old a trophy for not falling down in a race.
I like Bard, but he lies and makes things up all the time. Although he's a pretty lousy liar, he will admit to lying when confronted. And then he's sorry.
Thanks for the feedback man-I want these to be easy to follow, so I’ll copy the prompts into the video description later today to hopefully make it easier. You should also be able to pause the video and see any prompt you want as another route

Hi guys ..Is there AI available that can translate Portuguese or Spanish in real-time for TH-cam videos.
Can you ask it to speak slower or mas despacio?
For some reason it won't let me speak to it in Spanish. Every time I record myself it thinks I'm still speaking English and just inputs gibberish.
Make sure to change it to Spanish in settings! Covered this towards the end of the video 😄 🙌🏽
Can you show how to train Bard to find out your level and known words so it can adjust itself?
You’ll have to do this with every conversation, and it’s a bit tricky, but a few options you have are:
- If you’re working in English, use the adjustment tool and ask it to be simpler or more formal. This isn’t perfect since it’s not attached to a level, but it can help make answers tougher or easier.
- You can use descriptive phrases to ask it to change its level. Things like “respond at a 1st grade level”, “respond at a university professor level”. But Bard isn’t the best at following instructions.

Tried it with russian, but the bot obviously is not able to understand spoken russian. To bad. I had hoped to work around typing.
Quick heads up, make sure you change the language in Settings like I showed in the video. The whole interface should change to Russian if you do it right
@@JerryRegistre thanks, going to try
The one outstanding problem is that it's not fun
OMG i need this so bad
google have a massive amount of data base this is a huge benfit for the ai to digg inside the data and find any think about anyone
it might even get native English speakers to start saying "There are" for instances of two or more instead of the curiously weird, "There's"...
AHHH thanks you did it !
Couldn’t fail you on this one 🙌🏽😆
Imagine if Bard demostrated composed video like that 4:04
That would be insane...and I'm not putting it past Google to get here soon
ChatGPT was already able to do it - better at it too... so Google didn't kill anything. Google has a little bit of catching up to do
Wonder how good is with Japanese, Google translate is notoriously bad with it. Does bard had any improvement?
Sadly my Japanese is not good enough to give a good review, but let us know if you try it. It's free 🙌🏽
👍
So now AI will suggest kids under 12 years old ED medication?
Oh yes the pesky subjunctive en español 4:51
Just finished adding the prompts in this video to the bottom of the video description. Hope that helps 🙌🏽
Can it do Japanese though?
It should be (although my Japanese isn’t good, so I didn’t test it there). I showed all the languages that are currently supported later in the video 🙌🏽
Bing already have all those and he's more intelligent
No. Not at all
Try learning a language you don't know This is just a browser with voice.
It didn't, actually.
Unfortunely, Bard cannot speak in my language.
what language do you speak?
@@TschikoDeutsch Tagalog.
Al ? 🤣🤣🤣
Bard is the best .
I’m a fan of the image features 🙌🏽
Bard is absolutely terrible. By far the worst of the “big” language models. I always laugh at these BARD DESTROYS (INSERT WHATEVER). That’s like giving a 3 year old a trophy for not falling down in a race.
Bro has been milking one video concept for half a year now XDDD
The voice still robotic
You can still detect a bit of AI in there. It’s getting really close to a fully human-sounding voice though, in my opinion
I like Bard, but he lies and makes things up all the time. Although he's a pretty lousy liar, he will admit to lying when confronted. And then he's sorry.
Looks like a half baked product. Instead of rushing to be the first to introduce a feature they should strive to be the best.
'Just KILLED Traditional Language Learning'
WTF?
∆. This ∆
Thanks for the feedback man-I want these to be easy to follow, so I’ll copy the prompts into the video description later today to hopefully make it easier. You should also be able to pause the video and see any prompt you want as another route
Just added the prompts to the bottom of this video's description. Hope that helps 🙌🏽
