You can pick up a Infiray P2 for around £200 from the usual Chinese sites. Full 25fps and it has a respectable 256*192 thermal resolution (higher than the Kane model your reviewing). The Flir One available on amazon (for around £160) is usable for the money but the Infiray with the responsive display and increased resolution are definitely with the extra cash.
Check out Bosch videos on their GIS-1000. VERY impressive spec. and has built in humidity sensor. Just found one for £195 with Bosch full warranty, or you can buy them for around £350.
Good video Derek handy tool to have but expensive ...but saying that Kane is quality gear and not to far away in Atherton I think for calibration and repair 👍
A landscape rather than a portrait display would be more useful. Removable memory card and easily swappable batteries would be preferable. Video and improved connectivity would be big improvements. Definitely over priced in my opinion.

BES selling the Kane for £391 Inc.; was £500. Bosch do one similar at £348 but uses 4AA batteries.

FLIR plugin devices for your phone are cheaper, and perhaps more convenient. Certainly smaller.
