I appreciate the kids words. Another video in progress now 👍
I’m learning and this was enjoyable
Good! Im glad you found some value 🤝🤝
Great to see this type of content! I work in lathes and mills and it’s so awesome to see the content and the machining examples
Sounds great! I love mills too - just not as much experience. But they’re a lot of fun and takes a whole different skill set. Very cool stuff.
Great Job Luke! Very informative!
Thank you Joseph!
Wow! This was great! Informative. Clear. 👏👏👏
Thank you! Lathes are my life and hopefully we can teach while showing some cool videos!

Thank you!
Good job Luke!!
Hey thank you Pat! I appreciate you 🤝
this is very good.
Ive been a fabby/welder for the last 30 years and last year decided to change trades and become a CNC machinist. Im comfortable with Milling but im still a little scared a of turning.
Im looking forward to your next vid, cheers
Thank you. I love welding and fab too. I never had much time to work with that stuff but it’s very cool. Good luck on your journey in the CNC world!
This is awesome would love to see a video of types of tool holder and connections to the turret.
That’s a great idea 👍👍
Awesome video Luke! I’m definitely going to be watching this again when I finally buy a lathe and need to brush up on my lathe skills😂, well done. 👍
Heck yea! Thank you. I appreciate the positive feedback. Get a lathe - they’re so much fun

A very rare good hair day. But I’ll take it! 😂
Great job!
Much appreciated thank you 🙏
Cant want for the next episode. Im an apprentice at a shop were i am running there only jobing lathe doing solely small runs between 1 and 20 parts parts with a huge range of work. I do all the programming on the controller within shopturn with work kinda well. Alot of tricks to gwt the tool paths i want and need. I've between running it for a year or so now and i still feel like im straggling most days when it comes to drilling boring and patting. The opracions just never sound nice in the cut and have horrible surface finishes. I look forward to learning what im doing wrong. Thanks for the great video.
That sounds great and thank you for watching. One of the next videos we will be doing on the series deals with tool selection. Good luck and hope we can help. Practical Machinist has loads of great videos here and on Instagram also.
Great vid love your content
And a great hair stylist
Thank you!
@@Lukenielsand thank you 😂😂

Thank you 👍👍
What’s the best way to touch off a tool in the thumbnail image having so much trouble with it
Happy to help. What type of machine ?
Just simple fanuc two axis lathe, I have a V style tool that’s on the turret in the horizontal (like in the thumbnail) position. I just don’t know how to touch it off on the measurements probe the tip of the tool is not where it’s supposed to be I have to be touching it off wrong in the x position I probe it to -x or +x depending on how I programmed the part.
@@Crusadermachining I usually just touch the very end of the insert but it’s not very accurate
@ I sent you a video on instagram
Broach opps?
Like all programs like this the camera follows the face rather than the machine he's describing. If you want to teach me about the machine, SHOW ME THE MACHINE ! I've seen you in the intro and know almost as much about you as I need. I'm here to learn about the machine. So please, show me the machine long enough and in enough detail to inform me how it works.
