I met Phife in the Pittsburgh airport in like 96 or 97. I worked at one of the rental car places and saw him when I was walking outside on my break. I was so young and acted a little crazy, like started reciting his rhymes to him 😂😂. He just smiled, gave me a semi-hug and said nice to meet you or something. ♥️ #GoodMan
Dang they must hire young!
Lucky you. They one of my favorite groups coming up and Phife was my favorite
I was blessed to see these brothers back in 94 with De la Soul at The Hampton Colosseum. Best $14.00 I ever spent.
Back when concerts were cheap in price and expensive in experience.
@@profil-avitaravitar-profil7852 before it was fully mainstream
saw them the same year at Radford University.
I was blessed to see them on their final reunion tour. I swear the crowd rapped every lyric to every song so loud that I could barely hear whoever was on the stage rapping, but it was a beautiful thing!
Q-Tip still has the nicest voice. No matter how old he gets it will not change. ❤️
Loves some Abstract Poetic!❤
"Women love the voice... brothers dig the lyrics... Quest the people's choice. We striving for the spirit."
Everybody needs a NORE in their life bro is the light of the world in a sense

On my NY shit....Aye!!!!! The Nostalgia is thru the roof!!! My Generation...RIP Phife...
Why's ATCQ not yet in the Hall of Fames? They are most relevant
That's what I'm sayin
This aged beautifully
Seriously...
Midnight Marauders -- arguably one of the best hip hop albums EVER.

Salute to ATCQ! Tip is a 🐐 producer and an underrated MC...same with Phife (R.I.P.)
Underrated? Maybe by youngsters who weren't around when the albums dropped
@@AB-nb2ic I dunno bro...a lot of dudes who were around in the golden era (90s) tend to overlook Tip when they name their Top 15 or Top 20 MCs
These niggas are like everyday brothers you can kick it with love these brothers we all vibed with these dudes grown up
Drink Champs needs to interview Little Brother or the Roots
The legendary people in this room is the concert I’d pay a rack to see.
💯Facts 👍🏾
Damn looking at the older Drink Champs Episodes the quality AND locations changed drastically!
I be telling people that Q-Tip is the most important thing that happened to rap. That portfolio is too deep. Bringing in Dilla, influencing Dr. Dre, Kanye, Pharrell. Making classics for Nas, Mobb, Apache(the only good song on that album, I still have on tape), and many others.
Facts.
Don’t forget he got Mobb Deep their first record deal
Created the term Boom Bap Hip Hop. Discovered Mobb Deep, J Dilla and Rah Digga.
Also produced The Crooklyn Dodgers joint.
Most definitely made Positivity Hip to DA Hop.
Lessons.
Q Tip is a genius Love and respect to you king tribe call quest all of y’all Phife another genius shout out to Queens Linden,Farmers Blvd,Hollis, Baisley, Merrick ,Springfield,Laurelton, Southside, Queensbridge, Rockaway Boulevard, Far Rockaway the whole Borough of Queens💯

Tribe will FOREVER BE RELEVANT!
Major fact
A Tribe called Quest got me though some of the toughest times in my life! Thank you!
Same here, especially when I was in college on my own broke and starving
Man I'm Thankful they made us feel like Hip Hop could be stoned and eclectic lol
Who cares! Not one hit or buzz nothhin
Same here. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Nore so right. 15:58. Groups like ATCQ never need to stop making music. Especially with the condition the world is in. That sound needs to be omnipresent at all times.
Whew Q-Tip is so fine
Yessss
What's missing today isn't bars or quality of music, its the DIVERSITY man. 36 Chambers, Midnight Marauders and Doggystyle dropped in THE SAME YEAR. Three different soundscapes. Three different philosophies from three different places. Now it's all cookie-cutter shit because that's how the labels want it. Same thing happened to funk music, when the labels won over : Disco. Same fucking beats over and over. Hopefully we get back to chasing what's unique.
I agree with you 100 percent!!! #Diversity!!!
this whole comment is educational Originality will last longer than imitation,, thats why the 70s and 90s music i will always cherish because of the diversity of styles
Pharrel Ghost Produced Rump Shaker? Mind Blown.....
You might also find interesting that Teddy Riley discovered Pharrell at the talent show in Virginia
Also wrote one of the verses on there
I said the same thing!
learned that from narduwar
Y'all need to check out Hip Hop Evolution Season 4 Episode 3: Super Producers on Netflix. They interview Teddy Riley and he talks all about it!
Dam..... I wish this one was like 3-3 1/2 hours long. I love hearing the niggas I grew up listening to sit and tell stories and chop it up......
Yall need a atcq part 2 on drink champs
But with Ali Shaheed Muhammad next time
@@marcep1078 that's who we were looking for the most
A lot of people don't realize how important Tribe was to hip hop. Not just the evolution of it, but what makes it great in general.
ATCQ & De La Soul...The best Hip Hop groups of all time 💯
About to sample that - Q-Tip = "Here We Go" @21:28
Queens real strong in this episode 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 #SOUTHSIDE 🗽

Q Tip should be honored even more then Tupac and Biggy
Q tip deserves more honor but Biggie & Tupac, I don't know about all that
@@lennoxshakes2287 done more for the culture, stayed positive the whole time. no bs, all skill. mc and producer and put a lot of other people on, as well as inventing an entire ethos and style. 2pac and big, ehhhh..

@@jamesross4779 what did pac do besides make one super popular album that wasn't even his best. I love pac but me against the world was his peak but all eyes on me is when he fell off and became this fake super baller gangster and ended up getting killed for it. Pacs discography is pretty weak with his 1st album being a flop 2nd album was ok me against the world was a classic all eyes on me is whatever and makavali is solid meanwhile q tip and tribe have classics upon classics and q tip would go on and produce for some of the best in the scene name your favorite album and I'll bet q-tip either inspired the artist or was apart of the album

Big up tribe, much love straight from kingston, jamaica. Hip HOP fan for over r0 years
Busta never came back from bathroom.this was a short ep but good
The reason why he (Red Foxx) always said El Segundo quiet as kept it was urban legend that he stashed and hid his money away in El Segundo. He owed the IRS and went bankrupt, he let them take the Vegas home everything but had real money stashed in southern California (El Segundo).
woah thats deep
But isn’t Cali still the U.S? How’d he pull that off?
@@CodyCole80 deposit money in your house, safe or vault, back then hand cash was king. Even Aretha Franklin asked for cash up front, no one can tax it and no books and bank deposits to track. Got to adapt uncle Sam want his off top and the back end if he can get it.
Lol I read this at the exact same time they started discussing this topic
El Segundo has one of the largest military bases in California. It also is were MK Ultra programming take place. Roseanne Barr has her production company in El Segundo. The LA Lakers training facility in El Segundo.

That's dope ..but that actually worked out because for us here in L A. pressing up records, They had a spot call Bill Smith's vinyl over in El Segundo,we usta be used to press up our vinyl, so I was able to write a pretty ill rhyme using that "left my wallet down El Segundo, no need to mumble I found a place that we could press a wax by the bundles!!!!
