THAT is a VERY COOL Trans Am, .... and a "flashback" in time for us "older" viewers .... "Thanks" Dave !!!

Beautiful car. In '96 I bought a brand new Black Trans Am. It looked like a Batmobile with that huge spoiler in the rear. Gr8 memories. Thanks for sharing. 🚙 🇺🇸

Dave, Thank you for sharing. I have two of these cars one of the Cloth/Hardtop and the other is a Cloth/T-Top used as a festival car during the month of May in 1989. The brakes are not stock. The 89 TTA has the same brakes 1LE as the Camero Z-28/IROC 1LE cars had in 1989. 12-inch rotors with the aluminum PRB brake calipers. Automatic was the only transmission available with the 89 TTA.

Just an fyi, even though you can't sell me a bolt EV thanks for being transparent and selling it at MSRP. Those markups other dealers are putting on remaining bolts are brutal.

I bought my 2022 Bolt EV on 9/5/22 after much searching. I looked all over the southeast for weeks. Nobody had one that I was allowed to test drive and buy. I found an EUV 15 minutes away but only wanted the EV. I managed to find one 40 miles away and they had an EV and an EUV. I test drove the EV and the next day I wanted to test the EUV LT again, but it was sold after I left the day prior. I went the next day and bought the EV 2LT. It is an awesome vehicle, and the easiest vehicle I have ever driven (in 57 years of driving). My only problem is that I don't drive enough to make the gas savings high enough to offset the payment, insurance, and taxes. I live in SC and the taxes are outrageous, even more than my 2020 Cadillac XT5 premium Luxury that cost about $58K. The same for insurance. I pay more for insurance on it than all my other vehicles combined. I am still concerned about the low range when charging now that it's colder. Waiting on hot weather before passing judgement on that. My suggestion is: if you're looking for a great deal, and you can find one, then get it ASAP.

I love my Bolt EUV '22. Just got lucky, I was wanting to buy a used Prius Prime in a Chevy dealer, got sweet talked in buying into a full EV vehicle. It was available then... No regrets!!

We ordered a Bolt EV 2LT in June (upstate NY). Watched the order “sit” in the Chevy app at code 1100 (code translated is: “we got your letter, but we haven’t opened it yet”) through December. At that point, my husband located an EV LT2 on a lot in Mt. Kisco, NY, optioned exactly as our order, and we jumped on it. We drove the car back to upstate and we absolutely love it. Got fantastic “mileage” on the drive back. It’s got pep, heated steering wheel, heated seats, aggressive re-gen braking and much more. We’ve had no trouble locating charging capacity - we have a charger in our home situation, but chargers are readily located at nearby grocery stores, colleges, hospitals, shopping centers, restaurants, local library, etc. And more chargers are showing up on the map daily. For us, it’s a terrific car - economical, and perfect for the mostly in-town driving we do. Over the road, the My Chevy app helps locate charging locations, and the range is more than the advertised 259 miles. Love, love this car!
As someone who does not have real insight to how auto dealerships function, I’ve been entirely baffled by the “allocation” system that prevails. More so that specific orders are caught up in that system - leaving people hanging for 6 months to a year until a car that’s been ordered is finally through the production line and delivered. Leading to the current scramble of people calling all over the country to locate a Bolt and having to travel great distances to acquire it. Hope Chevy now recognizes that they can “own” the market for the small EV - but production needs to meet the demand.

    • @arjunc2266
      @arjunc2266 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Wow! You really lucked out with finding one on the lot optioned exactly as you had ordered. I suppose it was worth the wait, sounds like you enjoy the car. I was wondering how did you were able to view the code through the Chevy app? I have my stock number provided by the dealer at time of order, is there any way i can track my event codes through the Chevy app as well ?

Dave, I own a modified 87 Turbo Buick and the 89 Turbo Trans Ams often attend the Buick related events. The production numbers you stated are correct. The 3.8 LC2 in the TTA was similar to the GNX, but used lower profile FWD 3.8 V6 heads to clear the heater box in the Trans Am. The V6 is also lighter than the small block tuned port V8s in the normal Trans Am. The 3800 is not the same engine. The TTA and 1LE packages came with C4 Corvette calipers and 12" rotors, but slotted rotors and red calipers are not stock. The a-pilar gauge pod is also not stock. They came with an owners kit which included the pace car decals. It was up to the owner if they wanted to install them or the dealers would install them. Stock paint is off white, not a bright or pearl white.

0 TO 60 AND 1/4 mile times were just hit gas pedal from a stop. If you launch this car with it torqued up it was much faster. Also the hp rating was higher but at the time GM would not allow a TA to be rated higher then the corvette and borg warner who designed the rear diff would not agree to cover the warranty items if the torque rating was to high.

The Firebird Indy Pace Car is an Historical Vehicle. Thanks for showing it on your Channel. Myself having attended 50 Indy 500s (so far) remember this Car very well. I live 5 miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway & every year The 500 Festival allows VIPs to drive Replica Pace Cars for a limited time prior to the race itself. These were Automatic Transmissions only. They were Truly Pace car ready. At that time that was sort of Rare!

I was a Paint Tech for a local Mercedes Benz Dealer for 0ver 30 years and the Whites of the 1980’s looked more Yellow than the Whites of today. The 3 Stage Pearl White Finishes of Today were not even available on Production Cars in the late 1980’s. FYI: White vehicles are probably the most difficult to match when refinishing . A lot of people are not aware of that! I really like your Dealership, It seems Family oriented much like the Dealership I worked at in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Man I would that trans am. Back in 2004, my first car was a 1987 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird, 350 motor, 5 speed manual, t-tops with a bird on the hood. Only paid $1500 back then and wish I kept it. T-tops leaked and filled the back seats in the winter and ran out of gas more times then I would like to mention, but man what a fun car and hard to find now with a 350 and in a manual trans.

I had a model Firebird like that back in the day. Not pace car. Mine was 2 tone where top one color and the flaring around the bottom all around a different color. It was automatic so they did have those. The t-tops on those are notorious to leak. Still had fun with it and had turbo as well. Took out back seats eventually and put monster stereo system in there. Had 2 - 15's behind the seats and 2-12's facing up toward back glass. Has to dynamat the whole inside and take off panels to do outside to keep no rattles just pure bass and sound.

It had enough miles that indicates several people test drove this vehicle. I found it with everything we wanted and our color of choice. We had to drive 150+ miles one way to get it.

Nearly everyone looking for a car right now are looking for EVs. The automakers are going to take years to ramp up production to meet demand. Production limitations is actually the only factor slowing our transition to an EV world honestly.

The 20th Anniversary Trans Am either came with the pace car decals installed, or you could opt to leave them off, and they were delivered in a box in the hatch, along with other anniversary goodies. The cross drilled rotors, red calipers, and A-pillar gauges on this car are not original. The paint was originally 40U GM white, same as used on all white Firebirds for that model year. While the engine is essentially the same as used in the 1987 Grand National, the 20th Anniversary Trans Am uses a different cylinder head, different pistons, headers, crankshaft and ECM. Power was very conservatively rated as 250hp and 340 lb ft torque, but actually the cars made well over 300 hp. No standard transmission was available, all anniversary cars were equipped with the 4 speed Turbo Hydramatic. The Anniversary cars were quite expensive, basically $9000 more than a fully loaded Trans Am GTA.

Interesting with the level of demand on the Bolts. Here in Australia, we're now allowed to lease & pay the running costs for an EV or PHEV out of our pre-tax income, without having to pay tax on any private (non-business) use. Deliberately done to increase the numbers of EV's on the road & to supply the used market in future years. Wonder if GMSV is looking to bring the Bolt here to Australia...

A big reason people are calling Chevy dealers all over looking for an in-stock Bolt on the lot that isn't sold is because of the $7,500 tax credit. The tax credit is expected to be cut to $3,750 in March. I would be past my comfort level for a car purchase without the full $7,500 tax credit. I gave up looking for a Bolt on Jan 2/3 because I realized after calling about ten dealers that dealer websites are wrong. Any Bolt shown as in stock on the lot is either already gone off the lot or is already sold and awaiting customer delivery. I'll hold onto my ICE vehicle a few more years and see what happens in the car market.

I wonder if the Bolt thing is regional. I rarely ever see one in southeastern Wisconsin. I personally wouldn’t walk across the street for a free one. Perhaps due to my age, but I have zero interest in an EV. But like everything today, I am not the demographic that is being satisfied.

i dont like EV's but the deal you had on your EUV is very hard to beat, i found the first Bolt fugly but the new one are actually good looking, i really dont like the futuristic looks trend that going on with EV's, the new Bolt and Bolt EUV looks more conservative than the older model, the same thing happen with the Volt, the second gen was more conservative than the first gen

It’s a shame, with most EV incentives you can get either Bolt for around $25,000 to $30,000 , I’d rather have new Bolt EUV for that price than a $25,000 used gas car that still needs oil changes and more maintenance the longer you own it.

We have a Bolt EUV and a Volt that can run on gas after 55 miles of EV range. We put nearly double the miles on the EUV as the Volt. We've gone through 16 gallons total in the Volt in one year. In 6 months, we've put over 7,000 miles on the EUV. Full electric works better for most of our driving and is a much better experience which is why we always drive the EUV whenever possible. We only switch to the Volt if we're having to drive out of state for convenience reasons only.

The Firebird is a F Body with a Buick Grand National engine in it. Also, I do believe, when a car is used for a pace car, it can't be sold for a vehicle that can be used on the highways.

@@Stevonoles1 The 89 Pontic was in the fourth generation (1993-2002) F platform. Also, Trans Am went with a turbocharged 3.8 liter V6 supplied by their cross-company buddies at Buick. There were some differences in cylinder heads and turbo. The short block was the same. I worked on enough of them to know. Again the pace car thing, I'm not sure about that.

Correct the firebird was an F body, it never got the Buick Grand national, 3.8 turbo!
The 1989 trans am pace car, did get the 3.8 turbo! With 1555 made!
