I'd like to see some retellings of Grimms fairytales that haven't been covered by Disney. They might be a bit darker and the stories less well known and predictable.

The last book series you mentioned made me think of The Ever After High books. Oh, the nostalgia...

Cinderella is actually at the number 1 spot for retellings, but Beauty and the Beast is at a REAL close second. I had a similar theory that Disney did end up, in fact, influence a generation of writers who wanted to write retellings as some of the other REALLY popular fairytales are actually the ones Disney has done. Though I can’t 100% explain the 12 dancing princesses …….. Barbie, maybe?

U should read 'The last wish' and 'Sword of destiny'. Those are short stories from the Witcher universe. Really good retellings
