Another terrific shave and jibber-jabber! The woodland shave was outstanding, and thank's to Alistair for his idea with the bowl and flying chips, loved it! Good job with the flower artwork too Alistair. Mrs. W is not a woodsy girl either Mrs. H, it must be a male thing, can't explain it. You both do exquisite flower arrangements which brightens up the day and makes one smile just to look at them. Take care, Ossie
beautiful display Mrs H after watching you using a horse hair brush a few shaves back i decided to get one off ebay just to try £5.60 from china arrived Monday, omg it is beautiful with a blue acrylic handle. i have been shaving over 40 years and never owned a horse hair brush. the difference between boar and horse is massive, could not believe how soft it was and just how much water and soap it held and how amazing it was on the face, cracking vid as always mate catcha laters
Another great video! I'm relatively new to DE shaving only been a few months, however I've got my brother in law DE shaving my father in law just started this week and even my fiancé is now shaving with one of my DE razors! So we have made it a family affair now! Hope you and Mrs. H are having a splendid week and as always we are looking forward to the next shave!
That Nivea sensitive is great stuff, love it. Especially for the price. Seems to be a thirsty cream for me though but when you figure that part out its beautiful. Have a good week Paul and see you next time.
I must confess straight up, I have become a shave addict! No thanks to you sir. I have been with you now for 8 months and enjoy every shave. I now have 5 razors, the Futur is on my Christmas list. You have mentioned your method of keeping track of the number of shaves per blade. My simple technique is to make a tick with a Sharpie on the wrapper after each shave. Do you and Mrs H grow all the flowers or do you own a flower shop or just invest in a local shop! Beautiful variety. See you Sunday.
I do the same thing with the Sharpie. Any friend that I can convince to try a brush and cream or soap becomes a convert. Some still insist that their cartridges clogged with hair are still the way to go and I can't change their minds at all.
I have also been shaving for about 8 months. I currently have two DE razors - Muhle r89, Executive Shaving razor and would really like to get an ATT set which Im considering buying. What razors do you have Dennis?

Another entertaining video Paul. I will keep an eye out for that Nivea cream looks good. Mrs H did a great job with the wonderful and very colourful flowers.
Check my longer comment and some replies I've made here. There's much more detail including links to images of other Nivea products we can't seem to obtain.
Glad you had fun Paul . Beautiful Flowers Always Mrs H ! I bet you're glad and thankful to be back in civilization Paul . I used to love camping , but lately (especially in the heat) , I'm with Mrs H , forget the bugs , and critters . Give me a bed and a/c if possible . Whoops , it happens . I was told TOBS discontinued St James Luxury , have you heard that ? I really liked that one , among my top 3 TOBS scents . I always like the second shave with the IPs . The Futur is mowing the whiskers down , but the shiny version looks slippery . Great Shave Paul ! Have a wonderful rest of the week . Thanks Paul !
An enjoyable shave, Paul. I just received a tube of the Nivea from the shaver you just mentioned. Cheers to Mrs H for the splash of color in the studio. Enjoy the rest of the week, sir.
Hello Paul! Just wanted to let you know that your videos mean very much to me. I've got my second heart surgery (to get rid of atrial fibrilation) coming up this monday and your positive attitude is helping a great deal with calming my nervous feelings. I've only recently discovered your channel and DE shaving in general and believe me if I say that you've got another fan! I have a channel (All Mental Physical) where I talk about the link between mental and physical health and to help people to talk about their mental health. So I was wondering if you might enjoy to talk about what shaving means to you on a mental level in more detail during one of your shaves. Take care and thank you again!!
Thank you Michael, and good luck with your surgery, a friend of mine on TH-cam Steve Faragher had a triple by pass and filmed some videos from the hospital, and he felt like a new man after, so know you will be in good hands and life will be better after the op.....I will see what I can talk about in a video whilst shaving.....good subject....all the best, and let me know how you get on.....Paul.
PaulHFilms Thank you so much! Surgery went very well. Got home today. Still tired and a bit sore ofcourse but doing well overall. Just watched your Italian Shave video and I've also seen the videos you did with Steve. Good stuff! Helps with my recovery ;) Watching together with my girlfriend by the way! She just loves your positive attitude, personality and the things you say! I hope to be able to run marathons within a year or so to help break the stigma surrounding mental health. And I'll keep you posted if you like :) Take care Paul, stay awesome!
Beautiful flowers ! I use the Nivea Sensitive but haven't tried this new kind. I will have to put it on my "birthday wishes" list so she who must be obeyed will see it. Grand shave and I look forward to your new 007vauxhall where you have a "fantastic idea" ???
Glad to see you returned safely from your expedition, Paul, you look like you've almost managed to leave your wild ways behind you & you've almost fully integrated yourself back into civilisation 😌👏 Another beautiful arrangement from MrsH 😌👍💐 Oh yeah, nice shave, I've seen a couple of people use that cream before, and like you, they were impressed too 😌
Nice and laid back mid week shave. Enjoyed watching plus had a rather enjoyable one myself with my trusty Schick Injector G-Type. :D Thanks for the show.
great to see you back in one peice Paul. whats next for our intrepid shaving adventurers. it reminded me of an old show called ripping yarns can't wait to find out all the best Paul to you Mrs h and your fellow thrill seekers (slangevar)
Hi Paul, I find that when I try to shave everyday my shaves go horribly wrong, sharp blades start tugging, skin gets very irritated, etc. But when I shave every other day everything's fine.. Is that normal and could you advise me on how to get every shave comfortable? Thanks in advance and thank you very much for your great videos!
I'm the same way. I have been DE shaving for 18 months and never shave more often than every other day. I tried a couple of times shaving two days in a row (two passes) and got irritation and not a close shave. Shaving every other day I do just two passes, with the grain and against the grain and get great shaves. If I go a few days or longer I like to use open comb razors like the Fatip or Gillette vintage 3 piece New Long Comb razor. If you want to shave daily you may want to do just one pass with the grain and you shouldn't have any irritation. Hope this helps.
That is exactly how it is for me too....and many others...the skin would probably get used to it over a long time, but I enjoy the shaves even better as you say after a day or two.
I shave every day. Even on weekends! What I find is that I will not have two aggressive shaves in a row, so I have mild shave (with the Wilkinson Sword Classic or similar) in between aggressive ones. I also adjust the number of passes. So, I would do a double pass mild shave (with the WS Classic) the day after I do a triple pass aggressive shave (with the Future on setting 6). And I also adjust the shave creams - so I'd pick a thick protective shave cream or soap when using an aggressive razor. Hope that helps. I love shaving on the weekend as it's something that signifies the end of the working part of the day and then it's my time to have a shave, grab a cold one and relax. Highly recommended.
Paul, I Nivea has a great idea making a nonalcoholic shave cream, that will be great for guys with sensitive skin. Excellent choices for razor ì've always like the Merkur Futur. There is nothing like medicated witch hazel to sooth any nicks you've gotten while shaving. The best part was to finish off with good old fashioned bay rum aftershave . You always know how to work your shavecream into a nice thick lather.
Good shave Paul...flowers are explosive with color...I think Nickshaves said rubbing alum on your hands improves grip...which is better the future or the progress....I want an adjustable...need your Input....It's NFL football season ..the Ravens of Baltimore won their first game..."Sunday shave...Football....Beer.....snacks"...who's got it better then us....Nobody....Cheers!
Love it. I do the same here in Australia. Do all of my Sunday chores, have a shower, shave and then grab a cold one, grab doritos my dip and watch the Rugby League (NRL - very popular here in Australia).
Ha ha! The old "double chin" technique works a treat for me Paul. I managed to pick one up from the USA Amazon website on my recent trip there, the UK site was sold out! You must be making a fortune on those! Lol! All the best mate :)
Works a treat doesn't it Kevy...haha....yes UK Amazon sells out within days....hope you enjoyed the USA visit, especially New York.....on my list that place....cheers and all the best..Paul.
Another good video Paul, had a few crap shaves this week myself as been trying a few different blades but can see me sticking to my favourite feather blades. Got me a Semogue 830 on order and want to treat myself to a new razor stuck between the R41 and the future mmmm choices choices!!!
Products have been good, Taconic bay rum. Plus I tried the Musgo Real preshave soap. Just the blades I struggled with, Gillette silver blue and personna platinum.
Welcome back Paul, nice working day video; since 2011, through good times and bad...Merkur Futur setting 3..when you did your first shaving video ? maybe its the one as an answer to Steve Faragher with Futur?
They seem like they done it right after all. It was interesting. Used the regular one, no problem whatsoever. Picked up the "sensitive" one, my face was on fire. It didn't make any sense for me. Gonna try the new one if I can find it around. I'm curious.
Hey Paul love the videos never a dull moment with you! And if you can find it or if you have it already you should try the Barrister and Mann Lavender shave soap I think you'll enjoy the scent!
Really enjoy the videos. I've learned a lot. I was wondering what soap/cream you think has the strongest lime scent that lasts as well I really enjoy the lime but can't find a lasting scent. I've purchased clubmans lime cologne and just received TOBS 74 Victorian Lime cologne to add so maybe that's the trick.
I used a tube of the Nivea Sensitive Shave Cream a couple years ago when I saw Nickshaves review it. Liked it a lot and haven't been able to find it in the states since.
Loveliest flowers yet. We can get Nivea shaving creams in stores here. I should try those. Gillette has a gel that comes in a tube, which can also be found in stores here. It works well with a brush. Also, had a decent shave today, with Gem razor, new Gem blade by Persona, and Kell's bay rum soap. Finished with cold water, generic witch hazel, and Zihr Erase. (Hope I spelled those product names right.)
Shave-a-thon, I'm in the US, and I had no idea Nivea shave cream was discontinued here. I will have to check next time I'm out, because sometimes they say one thing and do another, or old product could still be on the shelves.
I received this email from Nivea USA yesterday I'm not sure if the Nivea offices around the rest of the world will continue to stock it. It's still listed on the websites of quite a few countries: www.nivea.com/pages/int-website-selection "Thank you for contacting us about NIVEA MEN Sensitive Shaving Cream. We're sorry to disappoint you, but this product has been discontinued due to declining distribution and decreasing sales. It is a difficult decision to discontinue a product, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Unfortunately, we no longer have inventory nor do we know of retailers stocking the product. We do not have another product like this in our current line at this time."
Take a look at what's available in Spain that isn't available in the USA or the UK (the cream may be found in the UK): Click on image to enlarge it: i.imgur.com/auVBI4M.jpg These are all the men's products available in Spain: www.nivea.es/shop/search?contextRatio=80&context=products&prefv1=Cuidado%20Masculino&prefn1=maincategory#user=1
Hi Paul, very nice shave as always. I have one question if you don't mind, How do you keep your teeth so white? is it a spacial toothpaste , or something else ? I'd be happy to know....
I find my futur very similar to my Mergress. Both amazingly efficient razors, would not class them as aggressive like a Fatip or R41. Not gone above 3 on them, usually 3 on my head and 2.5 on my face.
before using the razor ( I use qshave and ming shi 2000 ) , I always dry my hand, the only problem with this razor ( for you the merkur futur ) is to reach the zone under the nose, therefor I use a mach 3 razor to finish shaving under the nose, regards robert , soaps seems to be very slick
Another great video paul!! Quick question whats the best online place to get your shaving stuff from I'm starting to build my collection in trying different creams blades and razors etc.
Try Giftsandcare.com in Spain, then Shaving.ie in Ireland, Westcoastshaving.com or Maggardrazors in the USA, Connaughtshaving in the UK and Amazon for Edwin Jagger razors.(although Connaught has good prices).
My wednesday is complete after wednesday shave video. What your favourite Razor? How many passes can i do with shaving foam? i still got a little shaving foam left.
Vintage is Gillette Slim Adjustable, Modern would be something like the Merkur Futur....how many passes you get would depend on how you use it, and your beard growth, type etc.
I've typed this so many times, it should probably be a sticky in Paul's more info area. Nivea shaving cream in the tube has been discontinued in the USA. One person said it's discontinued in Ireland, too, but apparently it's still available in the UK as well as other territories. If you check some of Nivea's sites, you'll see how they issue different products in different regions: www.nivea.com/pages/int-website-selection. This is what they wrote someone from Ireland: imgur.com/JBEVlte. There's a Reddit discussion about it here: www.reddit.com/r/wicked_edge/comments/4txgyr/nivea_shaving_cream_discontinued/?sort=old This is what Nivea emailed me today: "Thank you for contacting us about NIVEA MEN Sensitive Shaving Cream. We're sorry to disappoint you, but this product has been discontinued due to declining distribution and decreasing sales. It is a difficult decision to discontinue a product, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Unfortunately, we no longer have inventory nor do we know of retailers stocking the product."
The Futur is much more aggressive than the Progress. Setting 5 on the Progress is like settting 2.5 on the Futur. The Progress also comes with a long handle or short handle.
Paul, nice vid as always. I notice when it comes to software you seem to gravitate toward store-bought "mass-produced" product (not that there's anything wrong with that!). Have you ever gone through a time where you were more of a niche/artisan based guy?
Paul or Anyone Else I'm Using A Gillette Slim Adjustable On Setting 3 ... Would The Murker Have Any Setting Equal To That ? Was Thinking Of Getting One
What's in the canned foam that shaving gel doesn't have that makes you want to try it,surely that why we have nice shaving soaps and cream,to get away from that God for saken stuff ?
The Gel dries my skin out terribly, the shaving foam is OK for a travel or very quick shave, doesn't take away the wonderful shaving soaps we have, they can be enjoyed even more so.
Check out my longer post. You may not have much time to get the Nivea shaving cream as it's been discontinued here in the USA. I'm not sure what their plans are for elsewhere as they have different offerings in different territories.
Watching one of Paul's posts is like spending time with an old friend.
Take care, Ossie
thank you Ossie for the praise - i try to keep paul innovative.
Well done Alistair, I really enjoy the shave and the camping videos! Such a beautiful spot! You can't beat an outing like that.
Thank you Ossie, it was a really good shave and what a location for it..good fun...great idea by Alistair.....all the best ..Paul.
Welcome home, Paul! Love the flowers by Mrs. H, as always!!
beautiful display Mrs H
after watching you using a horse hair brush a few shaves back i decided to get one off ebay just to try £5.60 from china arrived Monday, omg it is beautiful with a blue acrylic handle. i have been shaving over 40 years and never owned a horse hair brush. the difference between boar and horse is massive, could not believe how soft it was and just how much water and soap it held and how amazing it was on the face,
cracking vid as always mate
catcha laters
That is how shocked I was too....and sorry I never used one years ago now...lol....all the best....Paul.
Paul always loves his soaps a little on the dry side!!! Love the Wednesday shave!
It's great except for the dimethicone they add to it. It's been discontinued here in the USA and you can't find it anymore.
Welcome back home Paul and a great video as always.
i learnt a lot from Paul. My shaving is getting better. Thank You.
Great video and awesome razor Paul, That polished Futur is one great looking razor. My wife got me the satin finished one.👍👍

I am interested in getting the merkur 34c for travelling etc. What's your take on it?
So far all my friends think I have gone off the deep end. They hate shaving...to the point, right!
Another entertaining video Paul. I will keep an eye out for that Nivea cream looks good. Mrs H did a great job with the wonderful and very colourful flowers.
I'm not sure where you're located but you better hurry because the Nivea cream has been discontinued here in the USA.
Do you know why this product has been discontinued?
Check my longer comment and some replies I've made here. There's much more detail including links to images of other Nivea products we can't seem to obtain.
Nivea has some nice affordable products. Great video, thanks! I enjoy watching your shaving videos, keep them coming ;)
Beautiful flower arrangement Paul, back to the old reliable Merkur Futur, great shaving cream will have to give it a go.
All the Best Mark.
Thanks Mark, yes nice to use the Futur again...like an old friend.
Glad you had fun Paul . Beautiful Flowers Always Mrs H ! I bet you're glad and thankful to be back in civilization Paul . Thanks Michael, didn't know about the Luxury no....hope it's not true, but I suppose they try different things....all the best...Paul.

Mrs. H is a smart lady, as I stated before, roughing it for me is having to stay in a motel. The Futur is the only razor that I inevitably get a nick.
Beautiful flowers ! I use the Nivea Sensitive but haven't tried this new kind. I will have to put it on my "birthday wishes" list so she who must be obeyed will see it. Grand shave and I look forward to your new 007vauxhall where you have a "fantastic idea" ???
Glad to see you returned safely from your expedition, Paul, you look like you've almost managed to leave your wild ways behind you & you've almost fully integrated yourself back into civilisation 😌👏
Another beautiful arrangement from MrsH 😌👍💐
Oh yeah, nice shave, I've seen a couple of people use that cream before, and like you, they were impressed too 😌
Cheers Dave, yes it was a good trip.....and this cream was great...loved it :-)
Another very good video Paul, thank you. I like Nivea products and will have to try that cream.
Lovely Flowers!! Great Shave!
Love the Futur...great razor ! Thanks for the Vid...
Nice and laid back mid week shave. Enjoyed watching plus had a rather enjoyable one myself with my trusty Schick Injector G-Type. :D Thanks for the show.

Great shave, thanks for posting. I haven't used Nivea Sensitive Cream in a long time. I think I might take it out this morning!
Hi Paul,

Thank you Jarryd.
Ha ha! The old "double chin" technique works a treat for me Paul. I managed to pick one up from the USA Amazon website on my recent trip there, the UK site was sold out! You must be making a fortune on those! Lol! All the best mate :)

Not a lot of them last for a very long time sadly....but the TOBS 74 does seem to be a longer lasting scent I find.
I used a tube of the Nivea Sensitive Shave Cream a couple years ago when I saw Nickshaves review it. Liked it a lot and haven't been able to find it in the states since.
It's been discontinued in the USA. The last tube I bough was December 2015. See my longer comment.

Take a look at what's available in Spain that isn't available in the USA or the UK (the cream may be found in the UK):

They seem to have a new line here, with this cream, which is a good sign I hope Don....we will see....sounds like a dam good shave too :-)
Hi Paul, very nice shave as always. I have one question if you don't mind, How do you keep your teeth so white? is it a spacial toothpaste , or something else ? I'd be happy to know....
best shaving cream i ever tried...it has very good care of your face. What is the shaving cream you prefer?
Thank Odin for that, you're not homeless... I was starting to think Mrs H was gonna end up putting you on the Game to make ends-meat LOL
Thanks shave a thon for the comment i will give them a try. 👍🏻
Plus you can look on eBay for razors , blades etc.... :-)
Ye paul its a job trying to get hold of those personna red blades.
this shave reminded me of your 5th September shave video 5 years wow lol you talked about rinsing the merkur future on that video as well.
My wednesday is complete after wednesday shave video. What your favourite Razor? How many passes can i do with shaving foam? i still got a little shaving foam left.
Vintage is Gillette Slim Adjustable, Modern would be something like the Merkur Futur....how many passes you get would depend on how you use it, and your beard growth, type etc.
thank you. sorry late reply been busy.
I'll be keeping an eye out for the Nivea shaving cream, I like anything Nivea
I've typed this so many times, it should probably be a sticky in Paul's more info area. Nivea shaving cream in the tube has been discontinued in the USA. One person said it's discontinued in Ireland, too, but apparently it's still available in the UK as well as other territories. If you check some of Nivea's sites, you'll see how they issue different products in different regions: www.nivea.com/pages/int-website-selection. This is what they wrote someone from Ireland: imgur.com/JBEVlte.
There's a Reddit discussion about it here: www.reddit.com/r/wicked_edge/comments/4txgyr/nivea_shaving_cream_discontinued/?sort=old
This is what Nivea emailed me today:
"Thank you for contacting us about NIVEA MEN Sensitive Shaving Cream.
Hi Paul. What would be the difference between a Futur and the Progress, have been thinking about buying one or the other. Thanks Dave
The Futur is much more aggressive than the Progress. Setting 5 on the Progress is like settting 2.5 on the Futur.
The Progress also comes with a long handle or short handle.
As shave a thon says, the Futur is more aggressive out of the two, and much heavier too.
hello paul, I also like the ingredient list, take a looksie .
Paul you got legendary double chin :D Great video
Paul, nice vid as always. I notice when it comes to software you seem to gravitate toward store-bought "mass-produced" product (not that there's anything wrong with that!). Have you ever gone through a time where you were more of a niche/artisan based guy?
Yes, use a lot of Artisan products, and great they are too, if not better than the mass produced stuff.
Does the cream smell like the after shave balm?
No, not to me , it has a nice fresh scent...enjoyed it.
Paul or Anyone Else I'm Using A Gillette Slim Adjustable On Setting 3 ... Would The Murker Have Any Setting Equal To That ? Was Thinking Of Getting One
I have both. It's hard to compare them... due to the different head geometry.
As Thomas says, can't really compare the two like that...the Merkur is much more aggressive either way.
Shaving with that big thing is like driving a German tiger tank. ! Lol
Lol
What's in the canned foam that shaving gel doesn't have that makes you want to try it,surely that why we have nice shaving soaps and cream,to get away from that God for saken stuff ?
The Gel dries my skin out terribly, the shaving foam is OK for a travel or very quick shave, doesn't take away the wonderful shaving soaps we have, they can be enjoyed even more so.
I've watched on my 60" TV before. LOL
Don't tell me that..lol.
hi paul great stuff your bald patch is in the same place as mine paul lol
lol...and getting bigger :-)
hi Paul this shave cream is not new I I hade it one year back or even more than one year back . great shave
It must be a new formula, as the box states "New" shaving cream. Plus I have not seen it for sale before here.....Paul.
I only have 2X creams & 1X soap double figures in price all the rest are the couple of quid buy's & i can't fault them in any way.
A great point and I agree with you on that. My Wilkinson Sword and Boots shave creams "punch way above their weight/price point".
Check out my longer post. You may not have much time to get the Nivea shaving cream as it's been discontinued here in the USA. I'm not sure what their plans are for elsewhere as they have different offerings in different territories.
+Shave- a-thon Noooooooo..... bummer. I guess I'll have to pop to the local drug store and grab a few tunes. thanks for the heads up
Another deliberate spelling mistake, Paul?
No, it is a genuine mistake.
I would have thought Merkur would be the last word in the world that you would misspell.
