    Laureles is nice, but El Poblado was completely insane to me. I was there for a month. Never been to a sketchier place personally, and I've been to about half of the Americas. I generally did not feel safe throughout Medellin. You can't just sit in a shop with your laptop without having anxiety after seeing two videos of masked gunmen robbing entire coworking cafes of their laptops.
    I enjoyed Bogota. A lot say that it's more dangerous but it felt safer to me. Just my two cents. No judgment at all to the people of Colombia or to your video, this just my honest reaction and unsolicited opinion.

    • @joyoushapes
      @joyoushapes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Omg I’m so sorry to hear this!! I have to say that I wasn’t super hyper going around El Poblado because tourist spot = higher chance of crime. But I haven’t felt that type of anxiety you describe.
      Thank you so much for sharing, I love to hear honest opinions, this is a safe space for it, and yours is very valuable!!
      I’m so happy you enjoyed Bogota, I skip it because I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it as much as Medellin, but you definitely gave me a reason to check it out next time!

    Hey. What a great video!
    Simple and yet, full of usefull information.
    I would like to add that Bello Antioquia has very good areas. Surrounded by nature and big malls. Buildings close to Fabricato Mall are worth visiting and considering.

    3:47 Great tip and video. Medellin is a cool city but a real Fact is in our country some taxi drivers hacks the "taximetro" and the score goes "100 miles per second" (lol not too fast ) but being honest is pretty important knows the context of the cab travels and dont waste money (hey gringo dame tu money!!)

    Hi, very educatif and fun video! The living cost (apartment, transport..etc) that is mentioned is for one people or two people?

    • @joyoushapes
      @joyoushapes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Glad you enjoyed:) all the prices are for 1 person. So, for example, the total of the apartment was the double, but because I travel with my partner, we can split it.

    Just don't. Please don't. We have to try to fight the power in our own countries. We must demand affordable housing and food. Latin America has a lot of problems that we can't fix woth money. It would take multiple lifetimes, so it's ultimately not worth it

    • @joyoushapes
      @joyoushapes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Digital nomad doesn’t have anything to do with the problem of a whole country. Actually we bring money, create jobs. That’s how everything is evolving worldwide with the digitalization.

    • @we8608
      @we8608 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joyoushapes You're dead wrong. All we're doing is creating greater inequality by producing more powerful landlords and organized crime.

    • @joyoushapes
      @joyoushapes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@we8608 if you want to make money and you own apartments, the best way is to rent them out, especially in touristic places. That’s how it works worldwide. Crime happens both if there are nomads that if there aren’t.

    • @we8608
      @we8608 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joyoushapes NO. Lording over land/property is not a way to make money. It's a way to make war and genocide. Landlords only produce inequality and warfare.

      We are creating more work and bringing money from outside at the same time. The fact is that you won’t be happy neither if we are tourists, nomads, or anything else.

    • @doncoder13
      @doncoder13 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are not paying any taxes in those places, we all know that, also, don't compare tourist with digital nomads, a tourist stays in a place for 3 weeks max, than leaves, while a digital nomads stays for months or even years, most of the time they don't connect with the locals or the culture, they are just looing for cheap accomodation and fun.
      You contribute to a small part of the economy, but help destroy the rental market, this are all facts@@joyoushapes

    • @joyoushapes
      @joyoushapes  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How is this possible if there is a digital nomad visa to allow nomads to rise the economy?
      Secondly, we don’t destroy the market. If we destroy the market, we will come in mass, getting apartments at the same price as locals. But this doesn’t happen because we have to pay at least the double you pay.
      This amount goes in the pocket of locals, because we rent from locals, helping them with their small estate business.
      But you don’t even like we support small estate business because you call it gentrification (which is just another word to say you don’t have a property to rent out, because this is happening worldwide).
      So then, we have to go to luxurious hotel (which is just gonna be a room without kitchen, and that’s holiday, not nomadism), but you don’t want us to go to luxurious hotels because we don’t support local business but just big companies as Marriot.
      Then you tell us “go back to your country” but this will burn down the tourism which will hurt your economy.
      So, do you have a solution for all of this?

    • @doncoder13
      @doncoder13 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The digital nomad visa money goes mostly to the pocket of the government, but again, you have not even paid your taxes in the places you have been, which is a criminal act ( yes it is)
      Most digital nomads do not go to luxurious hotels, that is a lie, only true tourists do, you probably never been to one of those for more than 3 days, I mentioned what was the difference between one and the other, is not the same.
      You DO affect the property market, is ridiculous to deny this, of course you pay double, that is precisely why the locals can not rent them. The owner much rather give it to you than to a local who can not even pay half, daaaa, this is basic, you trying to sleep at night with no guilt by convincing your self what you are doing is ethical
      Do you have a solution for all of this?
      YES, do not go to places that over rand by digital nomads looking for cheap living, food, fun, and easy/casual dating, but it seems you been to all of those FOMO places to make it worse
      If you ever discover places that are not like this, keep it to yourself! the stupidity of making everything public ruins everything
