Good grief! The similarities between Adam and Patrick! I am really enjoying this series of interviews and interactions between Adam and the Henson Company/Puppet Up! I didn't even know there was a Muppet show being regularly performed! Just fascinating for someone who has been a Muppet fan since Rowlf the Dog appeared on the Jimmy Dean Show in the 60s!
The Muppets was my favorite show growing up and I still watch the movies. Miss you Jim, and I am sure glad you had an amazing offspring to take over the art.

I’m sure that you could make some with the kids. They might not sell them, but there are lots of people and videos online showing how they make them 🙂 I absolutely looooved making puppets as a kid. I made a sock puppet horse once and gave it felt ears and a woolly mane and forelock. Watching that sock come to life, simply by sewing on button eyes is a kind of magic I have never forgotten ❤ imagination unlocked
Some artists considered merchandising as Selling their Soul. This is why you never saw any Official Calvin and Hobbes toys or clothing. I know it's not the same, but Jeff Dunham was talking about making Muppet design Peanut Puppets for sale. They were cute. Personally I like the idea of making the puppets with the young ones. Feel free to start small with Sock Puppets. I had countless hours playing with them when I was young.
FAO Schwartz used to sell Build-a-Muppet at their flagship 5th Avenue store in NYC back in 2008, and later they had Build-a-Monster more recently in 2021 or so in the newer store in Rockefeller Center. There also used to be muppet kits sold under the FAO name in Toys-R-Us’ before they all closed.
Awesome that Adam's doppelganger has such an interesting and creative workflow to talk about. Because if he had been an IRS auditor, this video would have been a harder watch.

@11:50 -- my wife and I lived and worked in Belgium for almost eight years (mid 1998 to early 2006), and we joked that we loved Belgium for the same reason the Germans did in the 1930s and 1940s -- it's so centrally located to all of Europe.
this is so awesome Adam Savage I remember watching puppet up back in the day on a tv channel called tbs it would be cool if they could change it up a bit with maybe some of the muppets or some of the sesame Street characters it would be really funny to see them do that
what I find intriguing here with the doppelganger aspect is they do not only look alike they are the same height they have the same casual slightly sloppy fashion sense they have the same type of graying of formerly reddish hair they have similar mannerisms like arching back with excitement and hand gesturing as well as the sometimes machinegun ADHD-like speech patterns. a forensic anthropologist of the past might conclude that they must have similar family origins from brother to nephew since a list of stuff like this is rare and near-perfect doppelgangers are really rare. there's always something off they are different in height and composure or dress differently they have different mannerisms but here it's bang on!
Years ago, I went to a Henson exhibit in Seattle. One part was the chance to try out using puppets to the track of a Henson skit. It took a second to adjust, but it was really fun.

I'm not going to be tricked! I watched the mythbusters where Adam and Jamie learned to change their body language and I know Adam would love to use motion control to film each half of the screen.
Had an idea. An Adam puppet greets the audience as Adam normally does, then a door bell rings, and Adam says, "I wonder who that could be", and walks off camera. We hear, "Hello, I wasn't expecting you today, come in". Adam returns to center stage with a Mr. Rogers puppet, who came to visit. Hilarity ensues as Mr. Rogers looks into things and keeps hurting himself, gradually losing fingers and arms, etc. Adam keeps saying, " No, don't touch that".
About a year ago I asked you to make more of these. And you did. Good boys and girls. Now.... MAKE MORE. Not going for that job is the biggest regret in my life, so now I'll live vicariously through your videos.
It reminds me of when they experimented with having people wear goggles that turn the world upside down, sideways, or both, and surprisingly quickly the brain just adapts so that the world looks "normal". I wonder if something similar happens with puppeteers while puppeting.

This is super interesting. I've putted up lights, and controlled them on a theatre stage, years ago. The whole process, of figuring out and develop a play and then be there to perform it. The feeling of being "on." is so awesome.

eBay, my son got a nice older Kermit puppet from his grandparents and that's where they had luck.
