I haven't finished the 5th season yet but im guessing this hostage situation isn't explained any further after this ep?? Why were the daughter and mom concealing that there was a safe and that they knew how to open it - when what was in it was worthless to milton/chalky all along? They damn near got themselves killed by lying to milton this whole time. They shoulda just opened the safe right away it would have saved everyone a lot of grief lol.
No its not explained further. Why would it be? This is the conclusion to that entire situation. Whats more to talk about? Chalky kills Milton, walks out, and goes back to AC. As far as why wouldn't they open it and keep the charade going? Because as the mother clearly stated it was ALL she had left from her husband. I imagine most would go at least that far to protect something near to their heart. No they shouldn't have just relented and opened the safe for the criminals. This is what emboldens them to continue and push it further each time. Victims who just do as they're told. Nah. They stood strong and they get my respect for that. What I don't respect are criminals who inflict fear and suffering on innocents for their own gain. Embarrassing.

But they were liberty bonds, they were WORTHLESS to Chalky and Milton, chalky and milton could do NOTHING with the contents of the actual safe. Why didn't she tell that/show them that right from the jump?? Why would she be scared of losing the last thing her husband left them, when what he left them is literally worthless to anyone on the planet except his wife and daughter. With the wife's decision to lie and conceal the contents of the safe and that she had the ability to open the safe - she nearly got her own daugther killed. Would that have been worth it? And sure I hate criminals too but its just a TV show, I was just confused by what I thought was illogical action by two of the characters, in a show where 99% of the time I can follow the logic of the characters.
@@karabinjr they are checks from the US government - they are endorsed to a specific person who would have either fought in or donated to the war. They weren't valuable to Chalky and Milton there is nothing they could do with them. If they were valuable why didn't they take them with them? The whole point of the mother opening the safe was to prove to them there was nothing in it for them to steal. But my whole question was - why did she wait until her daughter was an inch from her death to reveal that? She should have just told them from the start. But then I guess the episode would have been a lot shorter ha.
