I played and was able to finish this on the original NES. Actually out of all the NES games I played, this one was one of the few I could beat, and actually was somewhat linear.

Great game. Great music. My first curse word I saw on an NES game. Its interesting, looking back, that we were being fed altered context, having been censored from any Nazi references. Though they weren't enough to remove it altogether. I mean, c'mon. It was just weird. And cool. But, back then, I was too young. Not reading about games being altered from original content from Japan. This was pre-internet. Not so much info handy back then, or leisure knowledge. I didn't think about it being a Japanese port. Didn't even think about Japanese gaming at all. Thanks Wiiguy.

I love themes in Bionic Commando. But My all-time favorite is the Albatross Tower Theme. Really captures the sense of danger of being in enemy territory. BC was one of those games that I didn't get a chance to play back in the day. It wasn't until 2003-ish that I got my hands on it. When Got to Area 5 (with the Albatross Theme), I was happy to see that certain old games could still surprise me.

The first stage right before the bosses door is a place where enemies continue to spawn. Stick around for about 15 minutes building your health bar and you will be able to make steady progress through the game. I can't remember which stage has the rocket launcher. It basically kills nearly every sub-boss enemy in the game with one hit. Several main bosses can be taken out in 4 hits or more. 3 hits are all that is needed to blow up the reactors. Rocket Launcher, get!

Great soundtrack, thanks for stereofying it, Wiiguy! Imho the Munitions Base (I think it's Sector 8 in the game) is one of the best songs in the entire NES library, and the HQ theme perfectly sets the mood for the final showdown.

  • @KronnangDunn
    @KronnangDunn 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Most of the original NES soundtrack was composed by Junko Tamiya, a woman who was videogame music composer for Capcom from 1987 to 1990. During that time Capcom forced her to use several nicknames in the credits of the games she worked and she even wasn't credited in the Strider game AT ALL. Ppl say it was because she was so awesome Capcom wanted to hide Junko to keep her from going to other companies. She left the videogame industry since then and now lives in Nara Prefecture in Japan.

If you haven't played the remake of this game on Xbox Live, you need to. If nothing else, for the soundtrack; the whole thing was done in an EDM remix style.
The game is a blast, too. They made some tweaks and added some stuff, and made the final boss fight an actual fight. Plus, there's even a PvP multiplayer.

What particular parts are you having difficulty with?
Something that would make the game a lot easier for you would be too build up your green can reserves that enemies leave me behind after being defeated. Collect them until your health bar extends to 4 or 5. That will make the game significantly funner. Also, when on the battlefield stage, if you kill a commander or a jeep, you will get a continue, which is awesome. Also, you can get the best weapon in the game (rocket launcher) quiteearly

Thumbs up if the tense chords progessions of the Map Select remind you of Mefjus!

I always thought it was pretty lame, that they censored the hell out of this game, even changing its title.. As a kid I somewhat knew about the evil ideologies of socialism, fascism, and communism, and knowing what those things have done to people (and still do).. It made the game slightly frightening to me, especially with the music, it was perfectly done with the limited technology.
The music inspired me a lot, with my drawings.. I became pretty fascinated with military stuff, and WWII era history. I started making a little comic (Still have that old ass artwork lol).. I remember leaving it all alone later, because some of the things I was learning, and saw (documentaries) kinda creeped me out, and I also didn't want to hear the music from this game, because it reminded me of all of those things too.
I then picked it up again years later in 2005, making a little game of it with RPG Maker.. Mein Kampf, and the Communist Manifesto inspired the main bad guy greatly, and he had to look very charismatic, and cool.. It' was supposed to take place in the year 2040, but a lot of what lead up to a WWIII in the game, began in 2022- after a great economic disaster, which is worse than The Great Depression. There is also then another civil war in America. The dictator is supposed to be the leader of a new country, everyone loves him at first, and thinks he's great, and when he shows his true intentions, it's too late for many. The country's flag is changed to the symbol of Chaos, since that's what he wants to bring to the world. His ideologies are all a mix of fascism, communism, socialism, and the occult.
The look of everything is quite steampunk-ish somewhat (but also kind of inspired from an old manga/anime Venus Wars).. In 2017 I actually toyed around with some mods for Fallout 4, and made the 2 main characters, just to see how they could look in a current gen game lol. If I ever make this game, this 8bit music will have been what inspired it, along with Area 88's music later ^_^.

Here we are in 2022....this game is prophetic and Fascism and communism is fusing together here in America. We are about to live through what this game and many other movies and games have warned us about. This is America's and the freeworlds great stand against evil

@@inkmage4084 lol i appreciated reading your comment last night. With all the stuff going on within the last year my mind went back to this very games storyline. As a kid playing this game the story always intrigued me as I too like you understood about what and how led up to WW2. But this game very accurately predicted what was going to happen. Its frightening in alot of ways because grains of truth are always leaked out in entertainment, but Bionic Commando straight up punchs you in the face with it. After scrolling down all the comments it was cool to read you had the same take from the plot as I had. BTW I saw some u.s. senators giving a speech in front of the a same flag that the empire uses and Nancy Pelosi saying that they would all be wearing the color purple as it's the color of bipartisanship...not making this up lol

@@ToxicAvengerX Hey thanks! yeah I still find it all a bit creepy. Definitely can't make any of that stuff up, they get creepier every day. But I think the most creepiest thing is how people are so quick and willing to follow them.
Like when I was younger, learning about Fascism, Communism, and Socialism. I would think "there is absolutely no way any of this would ever happen again, no one would fall for it".. Yet here we are, again you have people falling for it, excusing it, saying it "wasn't real Socialism". So to see that I basically stopped looking at those things as just horrible political ideologies, but stuff that is truly evil, because those things aren't designed at all to help anyone, but to take as many lives as possible from people who refuse to go your way, so it makes sense now why so many keep falling for it, cause evil does that.

In the description, is the 4:18 listing supposed to be spelled "Albratross"? Or is that first "r" a typo?
