Saying someone was the best druumer,singer,drummer,, player ect. Is basically up to t he listener. But John was spectacular!! I played drums fir years and wasn't fit to clean his symbols lol. What he could do with a single bass drum is awe inspiring. Definitely one of the best for sure. No doubt my favorite!

Back in 1979 I had my 16th birthday. Usually my Dad would ask me what I would like but this year he didn't. I just thought he'd forgotten but the day before my birthday I saw an envelope on the table with my name on it. Inside was two tickets for a concert the following night at Knebworth House. So I sent the night of my 16th birthday watching Led Zeppelin play live. An unforgettable experience that I still look back on with fond memories.
This is from Zep II, you need to listen to the original album cut. When they mixed the sound they fully used stereo effect which was still fairly new in 1970. If you listen to this song with headphones or a good stereo, sound effects go from side to side and fill a room. Led Zeppelin II was way ahead of its time!
Yeah, and as good as this performance is, there are better out there in terms of sound quality, and this one is missing that signature "airplane" diving riff by Page that always makes first-time listeners ask, "What is that?" ;)

A live performance I think you’d really love is, Since I’ve Been Loving You, live at Madison Square Gardens (1973). It’s my favorite live they do, though so many are. Every song they do is absolutely amazing, & I love seeing your 3 generations enjoying them. All 4 members are the greatest at their crafts, drummer John Bonham’s live MSG solo long version of Moby Dick, shows why he’s the greatest drummer. Rolling Stone Magazine in 2016 listed the top 100 greatest drummers of all time including all music genres (rock, country, jazz, R&B, etc) and they listed Led Zepplin's John Bonham as #1 !!!!
R rolling stone is a joke of a publication more concerned with style and popularity than any real musical analysis. That being said, Bohnam I’d definitely one of the top drummers to ever play. Others to consider in no particular order are, Keith Moon, Buddy a rich, Neil Peart, and Ginger Baker.

From the looks on the faces of Kathy & Donna they know exactly what is going on with Mr.Plants vocals ! As you all seem to like Bonhams drumming i recommend a track called Moby Dick which is a solo where the rest of the band used to walk off stage and leave him to it as they never knew how long he would make it - some of it he performed without drum sticks - just his bear hands. It is a great watch that I am sure you would all enjoy.

This is one of the best WLoL concert songs. When I saw them in 70 Winterland (SF) Jimmy played like a 5 min. solo, and the drummer Bonham played the bongo`s drums with his bare hands!
You mentioned seeing Heart doing Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Awards. The drummer in that was Jason Bonham, son of JOhn Bonham and the reaction of the remaining members was so touching.
I was blessed to see Zeppelin live in 1975 in St Louis. It was wonderful, but also sad in a way as I knew I had seen the best concert I was ever going to see. They were amazing.

I knew Robert Plant before he was famous. He was very well known around the Black Country (area in the midlands region of England) and was a regular visitor to our weekly blues club. We never had to ask him twice to get up on stage to do a couple of numbers with us. It was harder to get him off the stage!
Easy suggestion. Watch their concert film "The Song Remains The Same" from their 1977 concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It is part concert film, part fantasy, part docu-drama, and all good. See John Henry Bonham do an epic version of his drum solo song "Moby Dick", see Jimmy Page play "Stairway To Heaven", see John Paul Jones play "No Quarter" and see Robert Plant sing "Dazed and Confused". You will be happy you did.
Bonzo was/is one of the GOATS of drumming. My all time favorite band which I am sad to say I never got the pleasure of see live. Talented and gifted everyone of them. Secret funfact (thats no longer a secret): Some years ago,one of my uncles met Jimmy Paige (the lead guitarist) on a bar in Thailand. My uncle is a massive fan,so i was surprised to hear him describe his idol when he came home. "He look really old,not at all like i remembered him" I was like "Well,you started listening to them while they were just starting out right? It has been ALOT of years gone since then,its just part of time". He agreed on that,and i think the outburst was more a disappointment in barely recognizing him. But he got a really good impression of him,he was smiling,polite and just being himself. So my Uncle was probably both starstruck and felt abit down over the visual meeting,not answering to his expectations at the same time lol. I remembered i wanted to add "You are not getting any younger yourself",but i choosed not to go down that path with him haha. He was just shocked by seeing Jimmy that he knew had dark dark hair,be all grey haired when they met. But he is really proud that he met one of the rocking legends,and im abit jealous. I can brag about the same thing with Phil Collins though,i was in the production team that interviewed him back in the 90s. On the top of my head,i think thats the most powerful musician i have firsthand experiences with. Well,celebrities in general. Probably good that Lulu didnt take any deepdive into the lyrics with Whole Lotta LoveProbably theyr funkiest song this,that bassline is legendary already!
The basic riff from this track was the theme tune (different versions, but based on this) to a British music chart television programme (Top of the Pops), made by the BBC broadcast weekly until 2006. It always made me laugh, as most people had no idea; so it is likely many many UK folks know this riff with no idea where it comes from
Zeppelin pretty much has the #1 drummer, #1 guitarist, #1 vocalist and #1 bassist of all time. You could make an argument for each one but John Paul Jones would pretty much be a universal choice. Doesn't even feel proper to call him a bassist, he can and does do so many things. Not sure if a live performance where they're all high out of their mind and experimenting is the most accessible way for Lulu to get a first listen to Zep. I might have started with 'Fool in the Rain' or something that's a little easier to listen to.

John Bonham (drums) of Led Zeppelin was the power behind the band... he gave Led Zeppelin a powerful beat and undeniable groove that elevated the musicianship by Jimmy Page (guitar) and John Paul Jones (bass) ... not to mention the soaring vocals of Robert Plant 🤘🔥 Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 after the end of Jimmy Page's previous UK band The Yardbirds... Page wanted to form a 'new Yardbirds' and discovered a 19 yr old Robert Plant singing up North in England's 'black country' (because of the heavy industry) and hired him for the new band... Plant suggested that his friend John Bonham was a stellar drummer whom he had known since they were kids. Page went to see John Bonham play drums and knew that he wanted the 20 yr old in his band... Then, John Paul Jones joined on bass; he was an experienced composer/ studio musician/ multi-instrumentalist who had worked w/ Jimmy Page... When the 4 first rehearsed together, they felt the most thrilling sound emerge when they played - it was like 50's American blues jacked up to the next level. John Bonham was already married at 20 w/ a son... he worked labor jobs to support his family, but wanted to be a drummer... The problem was that he hit so hard and played so loud that he would often get fired... It was Jimmy Page who finally saw his potential and unleashed what John Bonham could do on drums w/ Led Zeppelin... Bonham could not only hit hard, but he also played musically - his sound was almost impossible to replicate in the 70's and beyond... Zeppelin's engineers marveled that John Bonham would record his drums in the studio in 1 or 2 takes; he and John Paul Jones were one of the best rhythm sections in rock history. Led Zeppelin became huge in 1969/ '70 after 'Whole lotta love' became a hit single and the money poured in... According to his son Jason Bonham, his dad bought a farm and when he was not on tour, he would hang out w/ his farmer friends and talk livestock... He also spent a lot of money buying vintage cars for his collection (Unfortunately, John Bonham had his driver's license revoked later on)... On tour, he would drink heavily and play pranks... he was nicknamed 'Bonzo' for his antics... Later, they would call him 'the Beast' because he could get ill- tempered when he was drunk. Sadly, John Bonham's drinking got more out of control by 1975 and he was also getting into violent altercations and car accidents... He was especially upset w/ the music press because he wanted to be a 'star' drummer like Ginger Baker of Cream, or Keith Moon of The Who... When Led Zeppelin were in the final year 1979/ '80, John Bonham had gained weight and was visibly burley... he didn't look like the lean drummer he had once been... but he prided himself w/ his explosive drumming. In the fall of 1980, Led Zeppelin were booking a US tour (their first since 1977) and John Bonham was plastered one day to the point he could not play drums... The session was called off and Bonham went drinking at the bars again before returning to Jimmy Page's house that night. The next morning, John Bonham was found dead... apparently, he had choked on his own vomit while he was passed out. He was only 32 yrs of age... His death ended Led Zeppelin... and they could never replicate his drum sound when they recorded music outside of Led Zeppelin. His son Jason Bonham became a drummer and filled in for his dad when Led Zeppelin played for special occasions... He played John Bonham's parts faithfully when Led Zeppelin played their final concert in 2007 for charity... It was recorded for the live CD/DVD 'Celebration day'... and Jason Bonham also played drums w/ Heart when they paid tribute to Led Zeppelin playing 'Stairway to heaven'.

"Kashmir" from 1979 is one of John Bonham's BEST moments!

Stairway to Heaven live from MSG 1973 is a must reaction. Also from 1973 MSG live must reactions would be Rock and Roll, Since I've Been Loving You, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Dazed and Confused and No Quarter. The Immigrant Song live from 1972 and Kashmir live from 2007, would be some other great reactions. Rolling Stone Magazine declared Zeppelin the "heaviest band of all time", but Zeppelin could also be very soft and beautiful. Some of Zeppelin's softer compositions will touch your soul as they have mine. Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page referred to Zeppelin's personality as "light and shade." Love your channel ladies. Led Zepplin was born out of the British blues explosion (a rather local event) but the band went on to be the best of the exponents of that style. The band even had a few chart hits along the way.

0 seconds ago I saw them on 5/30/77 which is online as an edited audio I was the first section off the floor directly across from Jimmy Page. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. If you listen to the audio, you’ll hear Robert talking about firecrackers. We were warn any firecrackers the concert would stop and be canceled. Robert came out to sing and bam a firecracker (looked like a small roman candle of sorts) flew up landing along his neck and hair. They left. After I would say 20 minutes they came out and did a great show. Let’s here it for Robert!

Led Zepplin played Acid Rock and was one band that when played on a home stereo system you risked blowing up your speakers. You just didn't play it close to full volume. Didn't have subs. Zepplin is responsible for alot of blown speakers. It is not safe to play it at the volume it needs to be wearing headphones or ear buds. People have hearing damage from live concerts. They say that the deep subsonic bass sound (Infra sound, sound you cant hear) can effect your heart beat. They are to this day the number one killer of speakers (Home and Auto).
This is what made America great, zeppelin did after some time give a co writers credit to Willy Dixon as the riff and some vocal elements had been adopted,then supercharged and sent back to the homeland of rock n roll.

He is the best drummer of all time, but his drumming in that song is overrated. I mean it sounds good because it's Bonham's signature sound and power. But it's just very disjointed, doesn't build and go anywhere.
I’m aging myself but I saw Led Zep in 77 at the Oakland Coliseum at a “Day on the Green” concert. Judas Priest and Rick Derringer Band were the two opening acts. As a goofy teenage drummer I was definitely there to witness John Bonham play. I personally think he’s the drummer all other contemporary drummers are measured.

A lot of people, myself included, consider Led Zeppelin the greatest rock band ever. They were the most imitated band of the era. Every garage band wanted to be Zeppelin. Those hoops and psychedelic sounds were produced by a Theremin.

As far as I'm concerned Jon Bonham was the LED in LED ZEPPELIN meaning he was one hell of a drummer.

I knew Robert Plant before he was famous. He was very well known around the Black Country (area in the midlands region of England) and was a regular visitor to our weekly blues club. We never had to ask him twice to get up on stage to do a couple of numbers with us. It was harder to get him off the stage!
Grade 10, in my high school radio station - we must have worn out the record, we played this song so much.

It is part concert film, part fantasy, part docu-drama, and all good. See John Henry Bonham do an epic version of his drum solo song "Moby Dick", see Jimmy Page play "Stairway To Heaven", see John Paul Jones play "No Quarter" and see Robert Plant sing "Dazed and Confused". You will be happy you did.

Bonzo was/is one of the GOATS of drumming. My all time favorite band which I am sad to say I never got the pleasure of see live. Talented and gifted everyone of them. RIP John Bonham. 1980 was a tough year on music. Lost Bon Scott (ACDC Original singer) John Bonham (Zepplin) and of course the great John Lennon (Beatles just in case Lulu didn't know). Secret funfact (thats no longer a secret): Some years ago,one of my uncles met Jimmy Paige (the lead guitarist) on a bar in Thailand. My uncle is a massive fan,so i was surprised to hear him describe his idol when he came home. "He look really old,not at all like i remembered him" I was like "Well,you started listening to them while they were just starting out right? It has been ALOT of years gone since then,its just part of time". He agreed on that,and i think the outburst was more a disappointment in barely recognizing him. But he got a really good impression of him,he was smiling,polite and just being himself.
So my Uncle was probably both starstruck and felt abit down over the visual meeting,not answering to his expectations at the same time lol. I remembered i wanted to add "You are not getting any younger yourself",but i choosed not to go down that path with him haha. He was just shocked by seeing Jimmy that he knew had dark dark hair,be all grey haired when they met.
But he is really proud that he met one of the rocking legends,and im abit jealous. I can brag about the same thing with Phil Collins though,i was in the production team that interviewed him back in the 90s. On the top of my head,i think thats the most powerful musician i have firsthand experiences with. Well,celebrities in general.

The basic riff from this track was the theme tune (different versions, but based on this) to a British music chart television programme (Top of the Pops), made by the BBC broadcast weekly until 2006. It always made me laugh, as most people had no idea; so it is likely many many UK folks know this riff with no idea where it comes from
Zeppelin pretty much has the #1 drummer, #1 guitarist, #1 vocalist and #1 bassist of all time. You could make an argument for each one but John Paul Jones would pretty much be a universal choice. Doesn't even feel proper to call him a bassist, he can and does do so many things. Not sure if a live performance where they're all high out of their mind and experimenting is the most accessible way for Lulu to get a first listen to Zep. I might have started with 'Fool in the Rain' or something that's a little easier to listen to.

John Bonham (drums) of Led Zeppelin was the power behind the band... he gave Led Zeppelin a powerful beat and undeniable groove that elevated the musicianship by Jimmy Page (guitar) and John Paul Jones (bass) ... not to mention the soaring vocals of Robert Plant 🤘🔥
Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 after the end of Jimmy Page's previous UK band The Yardbirds... Page wanted to form a 'new Yardbirds' and discovered a 19 yr old Robert Plant singing up North in England's 'black country' (because of the heavy industry) and hired him for the new band... Plant suggested that his friend John Bonham was a stellar drummer whom he had known since they were kids.
Page went to see John Bonham play drums and knew that he wanted the 20 yr old in his band... Then, John Paul Jones joined on bass; he was an experienced composer/ studio musician/ multi-instrumentalist who had worked w/ Jimmy Page... When the 4 first rehearsed together, they felt the most thrilling sound emerge when they played - it was like 50's American blues jacked up to the next level.
John Bonham was already married at 20 w/ a son... he worked labor jobs to support his family, but wanted to be a drummer... The problem was that he hit so hard and played so loud that he would often get fired... It was Jimmy Page who finally saw his potential and unleashed what John Bonham could do on drums w/ Led Zeppelin... Bonham could not only hit hard, but he also played musically - his sound was almost impossible to replicate in the 70's and beyond... Zeppelin's engineers marveled that John Bonham would record his drums in the studio in 1 or 2 takes; he and John Paul Jones were one of the best rhythm sections in rock history.
Led Zeppelin became huge in 1969/ '70 after 'Whole lotta love' became a hit single and the money poured in... According to his son Jason Bonham, his dad bought a farm and when he was not on tour, he would hang out w/ his farmer friends and talk livestock... He also spent a lot of money buying vintage cars for his collection (Unfortunately, John Bonham had his driver's license revoked later on)... On tour, he would drink heavily and play pranks... he was nicknamed 'Bonzo' for his antics... Later, they would call him 'the Beast' because he could get ill- tempered when he was drunk.
Sadly, John Bonham's drinking got more out of control by 1975 and he was also getting into violent altercations and car accidents... He was especially upset w/ the music press because he wanted to be a 'star' drummer like Ginger Baker of Cream, or Keith Moon of The Who... When Led Zeppelin were in the final year 1979/ '80, John Bonham had gained weight and was visibly burley... he didn't look like the lean drummer he had once been... but he prided himself w/ his explosive drumming.
In the fall of 1980, Led Zeppelin were booking a US tour (their first since 1977) and John Bonham was plastered one day to the point he could not play drums... The session was called off and Bonham went drinking at the bars again before returning to Jimmy Page's house that night.
The next morning, John Bonham was found dead... apparently, he had choked on his own vomit while he was passed out. He was only 32 yrs of age... His death ended Led Zeppelin... and they could never replicate his drum sound when they recorded music outside of Led Zeppelin.
His son Jason Bonham became a drummer and filled in for his dad when Led Zeppelin played for special occasions... He played John Bonham's parts faithfully when Led Zeppelin played their final concert in 2007 for charity... It was recorded for the live CD/DVD 'Celebration day'... and Jason Bonham also played drums w/ Heart when they paid tribute to Led Zeppelin playing 'Stairway to heaven'.

They were all equally awesome in the band. Another great song from this 1970 concert is "I can't quit you, baby." A terrific one from 1973 in Madison Square garden is "Rock and Roll," where the drummer has more "moments"! A softer side of them can be seen in 1975 Earl's Court, "Goin to California." "Kashmir" from 1979 is one of John Bonham's BEST moments!

Stairway to Heaven live from MSG 1973 is a must reaction. Also from 1973 MSG live must reactions would be Rock and Roll, Since I've Been Loving You, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Dazed and Confused and No Quarter. The Immigrant Song live from 1972 and Kashmir live from 2007, would be some other great reactions. Rolling Stone Magazine declared Zeppelin the "heaviest band of all time", but Zeppelin could also be very soft and beautiful. Some of Zeppelin's softer compositions will touch your soul as they have mine. Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page referred to Zeppelin's personality as "light and shade." Love your channel ladies. Led Zepplin was born out of the British blues explosion (a rather local event) but the band went on to be the best of the exponents of that style. The band even had a few chart hits along the way.
Check out Neil Peart from Rush plus Peter Criss from Kiss and Don Brewer from Grand Funk drum solos as well. Check out Buddy Rich sometime he is my all time favorite drummer.

I saw them on 5/30/77 which is online as an edited audio I was the first section off the floor directly across from Jimmy Page. I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. If you listen to the audio, you’ll hear Robert talking about firecrackers. We were warn any firecrackers the concert would stop and be canceled. Robert came out to sing and bam a firecracker (looked like a small roman candle of sorts) flew up landing along his neck and hair. They left. After I would say 20 minutes they came out and did a great show. Let’s here it for Robert!

Led Zepplin played Acid Rock and was one band that when played on a home stereo system you risked blowing up your speakers. You just didn't play it close to full volume. Didn't have subs. Zepplin is responsible for alot of blown speakers. It is not safe to play it at the volume it needs to be wearing headphones or ear buds. People have hearing damage from live concerts. They say that the deep subsonic bass sound (Infra sound, sound you cant hear) can effect your heart beat. They are to this day the number one killer of speakers (Home and Auto).

This is what made America great, zeppelin did after some time give a co writers credit to Willy Dixon as the riff and some vocal elements had been adopted,then supercharged and sent back to the homeland of rock n roll.

If you really want to see him go OFF, check out a live performance of "Moby Dick". It's his masterpiece.
He is the best drummer of all time, but his drumming in that song is overrated. I mean it sounds good because it's Bonham's signature sound and power. But it's just very disjointed, doesn't build and go anywhere.

I’m aging myself but I saw Led Zep in 77 at the Oakland Coliseum at a “Day on the Green” concert. Judas Priest and Rick Derringer Band were the two opening acts. As a goofy teenage drummer I was definitely there to witness John Bonham play. I personally think he’s the drummer all other contemporary drummers are measured.

A lot of people, myself included, consider Led Zeppelin the greatest rock band ever. They were the most imitated band of the era. Every garage band wanted to be Zeppelin. Those hoops and psychedelic sounds were produced by a Theremin.
